1 Better a poor person walking in integrity than one who is perverse ⌞in his speech⌟ and is a fool.
1 Melhor é o pobre que anda na sua sinceridade do que o perverso de lábios e tolo.
2 Also, a life without knowledge is not good, and he who moves quickly with his feet ⌞misses the mark⌟.
2 Assim também ficar a alma sem conhecimento não é bom; e o que se apressa com seus pés peca.
3 As for the folly of humankind, its way leads to ruin, and against Yahweh his heart will rage.
3 A estultícia do homem perverterá o seu caminho, e o seu coração se irará contra o Senhor .
4 Wealth adds many friends, but the poor will be left by his friends.
4 As riquezas granjeiam muitos amigos, mas ao pobre o seu próprio amigo o deixa.
5 A witness of falsehood will not go unpunished, and he who breathes lies will not escape.
5 A falsa testemunha não ficará inocente; e o que profere mentiras não escapará.
6 Many will seek favor before the generous, and everyone is the friend of a man of gifts.
6 Muitos suplicam a face do príncipe, e cada um é amigo daquele que dá presentes.
7 All the brothers of the poor, if they hate him, how much more will his friends keep away from him. He pursues them with words, and they are gone.
7 Todos os irmãos do pobre o aborrecem; quanto mais se afastarão dele os seus amigos! Corre após eles com palavras, mas não servem de nada.
8 He who acquires wisdom loves himself; he who guards understanding loves to find good.
8 O que adquire entendimento ama a sua alma; o que conserva a inteligência achará o bem.
9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes lies will perish.
9 A falsa testemunha não ficará impune; e o que profere mentiras perecerá.
10 For a fool living in luxury is not fitting, any more than it is for a slave to rule over princes.
10 Ao tolo não está bem o deleite; quanto menos ao servo dominar os príncipes!
11 The understanding of a person makes him slow to his ⌞anger⌟, and his glory overlooks offense.
11 O entendimento do homem retém a sua ira; e sua glória é passar sobre a transgressão.
12 The rage of a king growls like a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
12 Como o bramido do filho do leão é a indignação do rei; mas, como o orvalho sobre a erva, é a sua benevolência.
13 A foolish child is a ruin to his father, and the quarreling of a woman is a continuous dripping.
13 Grande miséria é para o pai o filho insensato, e um gotejar contínuo, as contenções da mulher.
14 A house and wealth are an inheritance from fathers, but from Yahweh comes a woman who is prudent.
14 A casa e a fazenda são a herança dos pais; mas do Senhor vem a mulher prudente.
15 Laziness will bring on a deep sleep, and a person of idleness will suffer hunger.
15 A preguiça faz cair em profundo sono, e a alma enganadora padecerá fome.
16 He who guards commandments guards his life; he who is careless of his ways will be killed.
16 O que guardar o mandamento guardará a sua alma; mas o que desprezar os seus caminhos morrerá.
17 He who lends to Yahweh is he who is kind to the poor, and his benefits he will repay to him.
17 Ao Senhor empresta o que se compadece do pobre, e ele lhe pagará o seu benefício.
18 Discipline your child, for there is hope, but on his destruction do not set your desire.
18 Castiga teu filho enquanto há esperança, mas para o matar não alçarás a tua alma.
19 A hot-tempered person pays a penalty; if you rescue him, you will do it yet again.
19 Homem de grande ira tem de sofrer o dano; porque, se tu o livrares, virás ainda a fazê-lo novamente.
20 Listen to advice and accept instruction so that you will gain wisdom for your ⌞future⌟.
20 Ouve o conselho e recebe a correção, para que sejas sábio nos teus últimos dias.
21 Many plans are in the heart of a man, but the purpose of Yahweh will be established.
21 Muitos propósitos há no coração do homem, mas o conselho do Senhor permanecerá.
22 The craving of a man is his steadfast loyalty, and it is better to be poor than a ⌞liar⌟.
22 O desejo do homem é a sua beneficência; mas o pobre é melhor do que o mentiroso.
23 Fear of Yahweh leads to life; he who is filled with it will rest—he will not suffer harm.
23 O temor do Senhor encaminha para a vida; aquele que o tem ficará satisfeito, e não o visitará mal nenhum.
24 A lazy person buries his hand in the dish, and even to his mouth he will not bring it back.
24 O preguiçoso esconde a mão no seio; enfada-se de a levar à boca.
25 The scoffer you shall strike, and the simple, may they learn prudence, and reprove the intelligent and he will gain knowledge.
25 Fere o escarnecedor, e o simples tomará aviso; repreende ao sábio, e aprenderá conhecimento.
26 He who does violence to a father, he who chases away a mother, is a child who causes shame and brings reproach.
26 O que aflige a seu pai ou afugenta a sua mãe filho é que envergonha e desonra.
27 Cease to listen to instruction, my child, ⌞and you will stray⌟ from sayings of knowledge.
27 Cessa, filho meu, ouvindo a instrução, de te desviares das palavras do conhecimento.
28 A worthless witness will mock justice, and the mouth of the wicked will devour iniquity.
28 A testemunha de Belial escarnece do juízo, e a boca dos ímpios engole a iniquidade.
29 Judgments are prepared for the scoffers, and flogging for the back of fools.
29 Preparados estão os juízos para os escarnecedores e os açoites para as costas dos tolos.
