1 Better a poor person walking in integrity than one who is perverse ⌞in his speech⌟ and is a fool.
1 Melhor é o pobre que anda na sua integridade, do que aquele que é perverso de lábios e tolo.
2 Also, a life without knowledge is not good, and he who moves quickly with his feet ⌞misses the mark⌟.
2 Não é bom agir sem refletir; e o que se apressa com seus pés erra o caminho.
3 As for the folly of humankind, its way leads to ruin, and against Yahweh his heart will rage.
3 A estultícia do homem perverte o seu caminho, e o seu coração se irrita contra o Senhor.
4 Wealth adds many friends, but the poor will be left by his friends.
4 As riquezas granjeiam muitos amigos; mas do pobre o seu próprio amigo se separa.
5 A witness of falsehood will not go unpunished, and he who breathes lies will not escape.
5 A testemunha falsa não ficará impune; e o que profere mentiras não escapará.
6 Many will seek favor before the generous, and everyone is the friend of a man of gifts.
6 Muitos procurarão o favor do liberal; e cada um é amigo daquele que dá presentes.
7 All the brothers of the poor, if they hate him, how much more will his friends keep away from him. He pursues them with words, and they are gone.
7 Todos os irmãos do pobre o aborrecem; quanto mais se afastam dele os seus amigos! persegue-os com súplicas, mas eles já se foram.
8 He who acquires wisdom loves himself; he who guards understanding loves to find good.
8 O que adquire a sabedoria é amigo de si mesmo; o que guarda o entendimento prosperará.
9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes lies will perish.
9 A testemunha falsa não ficará impune, e o que profere mentiras perecerá.
10 For a fool living in luxury is not fitting, any more than it is for a slave to rule over princes.
10 Ao tolo não convém o luxo; quanto menos ao servo dominar os príncipes!
11 The understanding of a person makes him slow to his ⌞anger⌟, and his glory overlooks offense.
11 A discrição do homem fá-lo tardio em irar-se; e sua glória está em esquecer ofensas.
12 The rage of a king growls like a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.
12 A ira do rei é como o bramido o leão; mas o seu favor é como o orvalho sobre a erva.
13 A foolish child is a ruin to his father, and the quarreling of a woman is a continuous dripping.
13 O filho insensato é a calamidade do pai; e as rixas da mulher são uma goteira contínua.
14 A house and wealth are an inheritance from fathers, but from Yahweh comes a woman who is prudent.
14 Casa e riquezas são herdadas dos pais; mas a mulher prudente vem do Senhor.
15 Laziness will bring on a deep sleep, and a person of idleness will suffer hunger.
15 A preguiça faz cair em profundo sono; e o ocioso padecerá fome.
16 He who guards commandments guards his life; he who is careless of his ways will be killed.
16 Quem guarda o mandamento guarda a sua alma; mas aquele que não faz caso dos seus caminhos morrerá.
17 He who lends to Yahweh is he who is kind to the poor, and his benefits he will repay to him.
17 O que se compadece do pobre empresta ao Senhor, que lhe retribuirá o seu benefício.
18 Discipline your child, for there is hope, but on his destruction do not set your desire.
18 Corrige a teu filho enquanto há esperança; mas não te incites a destruí-lo.
19 A hot-tempered person pays a penalty; if you rescue him, you will do it yet again.
19 Homem de grande ira tem de sofrer o castigo; porque se o livrares, terás de o fazer de novo.
20 Listen to advice and accept instruction so that you will gain wisdom for your ⌞future⌟.
20 Ouve o conselho, e recebe a correção, para que sejas sábio nos teus últimos dias.
21 Many plans are in the heart of a man, but the purpose of Yahweh will be established.
21 Muitos são os planos no coração do homem; mas o desígnio do Senhor, esse prevalecerá.
22 The craving of a man is his steadfast loyalty, and it is better to be poor than a ⌞liar⌟.
22 O que faz um homem desejável é a sua benignidade; e o pobre é melhor do que o mentiroso.
23 Fear of Yahweh leads to life; he who is filled with it will rest—he will not suffer harm.
23 O temor do Senhor encaminha para a vida; aquele que o tem ficará satisfeito, e mal nenhum o visitará.
24 A lazy person buries his hand in the dish, and even to his mouth he will not bring it back.
24 O preguiçoso esconde a sua mão no prato, e nem ao menos quer levá-la de novo à boca.
25 The scoffer you shall strike, and the simple, may they learn prudence, and reprove the intelligent and he will gain knowledge.
25 Fere ao escarnecedor, e o simples aprenderá a prudência; repreende ao que tem entendimento, e ele crescerá na ciência.
26 He who does violence to a father, he who chases away a mother, is a child who causes shame and brings reproach.
26 O que aflige a seu pai, e faz fugir a sua mãe, é filho que envergonha e desonra.
27 Cease to listen to instruction, my child, ⌞and you will stray⌟ from sayings of knowledge.
27 Cessa, filho meu, de ouvir a instrução, e logo te desviarás das palavras do conhecimento.
28 A worthless witness will mock justice, and the mouth of the wicked will devour iniquity.
28 A testemunha vil escarnece da justiça; e a boca dos ímpios engole a iniqüidade.
29 Judgments are prepared for the scoffers, and flogging for the back of fools.
29 A condenação está preparada para os escarnecedores, e os açoites para as costas dos tolos.
