1 “My spirit is pulled down; my days are extinguished; the graveyard is for me.
1 O meu espírito se vai consumindo, os meus dias se vão apagando, e só tenho perante mim a sepultura.
2 ⌞Surely⌟ mockery is with me, and my eye ⌞rests⌟ on their provocation.
2 Porventura, não estão zombadores comigo? E os meus olhos não contemplam as suas amarguras?
3 Please lay down a pledge for me with yourself; who is he who will give security for my hand?
3 Promete agora, e dá-me um fiador para contigo; quem há que me dê a mão?
4 Indeed, you have closed their mind from understanding; therefore, you will not let them triumph.
4 Porque ao seu coração encobriste o entendimento, pelo que não os exaltarás.
5 He denounces friends for reward, so his children’s eyes will fail.
5 O que, lisonjeando, fala aos amigos, também os olhos de seus filhos desfalecerão.
6 “And he has made me a proverb for the peoples, ⌞and I am one before whom people spit⌟.
6 Mas a mim me pôs por um provérbio dos povos, de modo que me tornei uma abominação para eles.
7 And my eye has grown dim from grief, and the limbs of my body are all like a shadow.
7 Pelo que já se escureceram de mágoa os meus olhos e já todos os meus membros são como a sombra;
8 The upright are appalled at this, and the innocent excites himself over the godless.
8 os retos pasmarão disto, e o inocente se levantará contra o hipócrita.
9 But the righteous holds on to his way, and ⌞he who has clean hands⌟ increases in strength.
9 E o justo seguirá o seu caminho firmemente, e o puro de mãos irá crescendo em força.
10 But ⌞all of you must return⌟—⌞please come⌟! But I shall not find a wise person among you.
10 Mas, na verdade, tornai todos vós e vinde cá; porque sábio nenhum acho entre vós.
11 “My days are past; my plans are broken down— even the desires of my heart.
11 Os meus dias passaram, e malograram-se os meus propósitos, as aspirações do meu coração.
12 They make night into day, saying, ‘Light is ⌞near to darkness⌟.’
12 Trocaram a noite em dia; a luz está perto do fim, por causa das trevas.
13 If I hope for Sheol as my house, if I spread my couch in the darkness,
13 Se eu olhar a sepultura como a minha casa; se nas trevas estender a minha cama;
14 if I call to the pit, ‘You are my father,’ to the maggot, ‘You are my mother or my sister,’
14 se à corrupção clamar: tu és meu pai; e aos bichos: vós sois minha mãe e minha irmã;
15 where then is my hope? And ⌞who will see my hope⌟?
15 onde estaria, então, agora, a minha esperança? Sim, a minha esperança, quem a poderá ver?
16 Will they go down to the bars of Sheol? Or shall we descend together into the dust?”
16 Ela descerá até aos ferrolhos do Seol, quando juntamente no pó teremos descanso.
