1 The preparations of the heart are in man: but the answere of the tongue is of the Lord.
1 O coração do homem pode fazer planos, mas a resposta certa dos lábios vem do
2 All the wayes of a man are cleane in his owne eyes: but the Lord pondereth the spirits.
2 Todos os caminhos do homem são puros aos seus olhos, mas o
3 Commit thy workes vnto the Lord, and thy thoughts shalbe directed.
3 Confia ao Senhor as tuas obras, e os teus desígnios serão estabelecidos.
4 The Lord hath made all things for his owne sake: yea, euen the wicked for the day of euill.
4 O Senhor fez todas as coisas para determinados fins e até o perverso, para o dia da calamidade.
5 All that are proude in heart, are an abomination to the Lord: though hand ioyne in hand, he shall not be vnpunished.
5 Abominável é ao Senhor todo arrogante de coração; é evidente que não ficará impune.
6 By mercy and trueth iniquitie shalbe forgiuen, and by the feare of the Lord they depart from euill.
6 Pela misericórdia e pela verdade, se expia a culpa; e pelo temor do
7 When the wayes of a man please the Lord, he will make also his enemies at peace with him.
7 Sendo o caminho dos homens agradável ao Senhor , este reconcilia com eles os seus inimigos.
8 Better is a litle with righteousnesse, then great reuenues without equitie.
8 Melhor é o pouco, havendo justiça, do que grandes rendimentos com injustiça.
9 The heart of man purposeth his way: but the Lord doeth direct his steppes.
9 O coração do homem traça o seu caminho, mas o
10 A diuine sentence shalbe in the lips of the King: his mouth shall not transgresse in iudgement.
10 Nos lábios do rei se acham decisões autorizadas; no julgar não transgrida, pois, a sua boca.
11 A true weight and balance are of the Lord: all the weightes of the bagge are his worke.
11 Peso e balança justos pertencem ao Senhor ; obra sua são todos os pesos da bolsa.
12 It is an abomination to Kings to commit wickednes: for the throne is stablished by iustice.
12 A prática da impiedade é abominável para os reis, porque com justiça se estabelece o trono.
13 Righteous lips are the delite of Kings, and the King loueth him that speaketh right things.
13 Os lábios justos são o contentamento do rei, e ele ama o que fala coisas retas.
14 The wrath of a King is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacifie it.
14 O furor do rei são uns mensageiros de morte, mas o homem sábio o apazigua.
15 In the light of the Kings coutenance is life: and his fauour is as a cloude of the latter raine.
15 O semblante alegre do rei significa vida, e a sua benevolência é como a nuvem que traz chuva serôdia.
16 Howe much better is it to get wisedome then golde? and to get vnderstanding, is more to be desired then siluer.
16 Quanto melhor é adquirir a sabedoria do que o ouro! E mais excelente, adquirir a prudência do que a prata!
17 The pathe of the righteous is to decline from euil, and hee keepeth his soule, that keepeth his way.
17 O caminho dos retos é desviar-se do mal; o que guarda o seu caminho preserva a sua alma.
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an high minde before the fall.
18 A soberba precede a ruína, e a altivez do espírito, a queda.
19 Better it is to be of humble minde with the lowly, then to deuide the spoyles with the proude.
19 Melhor é ser humilde de espírito com os humildes do que repartir o despojo com os soberbos.
20 He that is wise in his busines, shall finde good: and he that trusteth in the Lord, he is blessed.
20 O que atenta para o ensino acha o bem, e o que confia no
21 The wise in heart shall bee called prudent: and the sweetenesse of the lippes shall increase doctrine.
21 O sábio de coração é chamado prudente, e a doçura no falar aumenta o saber.
22 Vnderstading is welspring of life vnto them that haue it: and the instruction of fooles is folly.
22 O entendimento, para aqueles que o possuem, é fonte de vida; mas, para o insensato, a sua estultícia lhe é castigo.
23 The heart of the wise guideth his mouth wisely, and addeth doctrine to his lippes.
23 O coração do sábio é mestre de sua boca e aumenta a persuasão nos seus lábios.
24 Faire wordes are as an hony combe, sweetenesse to the soule, and health to the bones.
24 Palavras agradáveis são como favo de mel: doces para a alma e medicina para o corpo.
25 There is a way that seemeth right vnto man: but the issue thereof are the wayes of death.
25 Há caminho que parece direito ao homem, mas afinal são caminhos de morte.
26 The person that traueileth, traueileth for himselfe: for his mouth craueth it of him.
26 A fome do trabalhador o faz trabalhar, porque a sua boca a isso o incita.
27 A wicked man diggeth vp euill, and in his lippes is like burning fire.
27 O homem depravado cava o mal, e nos seus lábios há como que fogo ardente.
28 A frowarde person soweth strife: and a tale teller maketh diuision among princes.
28 O homem perverso espalha contendas, e o difamador separa os maiores amigos.
29 A wicked man deceiueth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
29 O homem violento alicia o seu companheiro e guia-o por um caminho que não é bom.
30 He shutteth his eyes to deuise wickednes: he moueth his lippes, and bringeth euil to passe.
30 Quem fecha os olhos imagina o mal, e, quando morde os lábios, o executa.
31 Age is a crowne of glory, when it is founde in the way of righteousnes.
31 Coroa de honra são as cãs, quando se acham no caminho da justiça.
32 He that is slowe vnto anger, is better then the mightie man: and hee that ruleth his owne minde, is better then he that winneth a citie.
32 Melhor é o longânimo do que o herói da guerra, e o que domina o seu espírito, do que o que toma uma cidade.
33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposition thereof is of the Lord.
