1 My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are mine.
1 “Meu espírito está quebrado, e minha vida, quase apagada; o túmulo está pronto para me receber.
2 Are there not mockers around me? and doth {not} mine eye abide in their provocation?
2 Estou cercado de zombadores; seus insultos estão sempre diante de mim.
3 Lay down now {a pledge}, be thou surety for me with thyself: who is he that striketh hands with me?
3 “Dá-me garantia de que me defenderás, ó Deus, pois ninguém mais tomará meu partido.
4 For thou hast hidden their heart from understanding; therefore thou wilt not exalt {them}.
4 Fechaste a mente deles para o entendimento, mas não permitas que triunfem.
5 He that betrayeth friends for a prey-even the eyes of his children shall fail.
5 Traem os amigos em benefício próprio; deixa que os filhos deles desfaleçam de fome.
6 And he hath made me a proverb of the peoples; and I am become one to be spit on in the face.
6 “Deus me transformou em motivo de zombaria; as pessoas cospem em meu rosto.
7 And mine eye is dim by reason of grief, and all my members are as a shadow.
7 Meus olhos estão inchados de tanto chorar; sou apenas sombra do que já fui.
8 Upright men {shall be} astonished at this, and the innocent shall be stirred up against the ungodly;
8 Os virtuosos ficam horrorizados quando me veem, e os inocentes se levantam contra os ímpios.
9 But the righteous shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall increase in strength.
9 Os justos prosseguem em seu caminho, e os de mãos limpas se fortalecem cada vez mais.
10 But as for you all, pray come on again; and I shall not find one wise man among you.
10 “Quanto a vocês, voltem com um argumento melhor; ainda assim, não encontrarei sábio algum em seu meio.
11 My days are past, my purposes are broken off, the cherished thoughts of my heart.
11 Meus dias chegaram ao fim e minhas esperanças se foram; os desejos de meu coração não se realizaram.
12 They change the night into day; the light {they imagine} near in presence of the darkness.
12 Esses homens dizem que a noite é dia, afirmam que a escuridão é luz.
13 If I wait, Sheol is my house; I spread my bed in the darkness:
13 E se eu descer à sepultura e arrumar minha cama na escuridão?
14 I cry to the grave, Thou art my father! to the worm, My mother, and my sister!
14 E se eu chamar o túmulo de pai e o verme, de mãe ou irmã?
15 And where is then my hope? yea, my hope, who shall see it?
15 Onde está, então, minha esperança? Há alguém que possa encontrá-la?
16 It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, when {our} rest shall be together in the dust.
16 Não, minha esperança descerá comigo à sepultura; descansaremos juntos no pó”.
