1 My son! keep my sayings, And my commands lay up with thee.
1 Filho meu, guarda as minhas palavras, e esconde dentro de ti os meus mandamentos.
2 Keep my commands, and live, And my law as the pupil of thine eye.
2 Guarda os meus mandamentos e vive; e a minha lei, como a menina dos teus olhos.
3 Bind them on thy fingers, Write them on the tablet of thy heart.
3 Ata-os aos teus dedos, escreve-os na tábua do teu coração.
4 Say to wisdom, `My sister Thou [art].` And cry to understanding, `Kinswoman!`
4 Dize à sabedoria: Tu és minha irmã; e à prudência chama de tua parenta,
5 To preserve thee from a strange woman, From a stranger who hath made smooth her sayings.
5 Para que elas te guardem da mulher alheia, da estranha que lisonjeia com as suas palavras.
6 For, at a window of my house, Through my casement I have looked out,
6 Porque da janela da minha casa, olhando eu por minhas frestas,
7 And I do see among the simple ones, I discern among the sons, A young man lacking understanding,
7 Vi entre os simples, descobri entre os moços, um moço falto de juízo,
8 Passing on in the street, near her corner, And the way [to] her house he doth step,
8 Que passava pela rua junto à sua esquina, e seguia o caminho da sua casa;
9 In the twilight -- in the evening of day, In the darkness of night and blackness.
9 No crepúsculo, à tarde do dia, na tenebrosa noite e na escuridão.
10 And, lo, a woman to meet him -- (A harlot`s dress, and watchful of heart,
10 E eis que uma mulher lhe saiu ao encontro com enfeites de prostituta, e astúcia de coração.
11 Noisy she [is], and stubborn, In her house her feet rest not.
11 Estava alvoroçada e irrequieta; não paravam em sua casa os seus pés.
12 Now in an out-place, now in broad places, And near every corner she lieth in wait) --
12 Foi para fora, depois pelas ruas, e ia espreitando por todos os cantos;
13 And she laid hold on him, and kissed him, She hath hardened her face, and saith to him,
13 E chegou-se para ele e o beijou. Com face impudente lhe disse:
14 `Sacrifices of peace-offerings [are] by me, To-day I have completed my vows.
14 Sacrifícios pacíficos tenho comigo; hoje paguei os meus votos.
15 Therefore I have come forth to meet thee, To seek earnestly thy face, and I find thee.
15 Por isto saí ao teu encontro a buscar diligentemente a tua face, e te achei.
16 [With] ornamental coverings I decked my couch, Carved works -- cotton of Egypt.
16 Já cobri a minha cama com cobertas de tapeçaria, com obras lavradas, com linho fino do Egito.
17 I sprinkled my bed -- myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
17 Já perfumei o meu leito com mirra, aloés e canela.
18 Come, we are filled [with] loves till the morning, We delight ourselves in loves.
18 Vem, saciemo-nos de amores até à manhã; alegremo-nos com amores.
19 For the man is not in his house, He hath gone on a long journey.
19 Porque o marido não está em casa; foi fazer uma longa viagem;
20 A bag of money he hath taken in his hand, At the day of the new moon he cometh to his house.`
20 Levou na sua mão um saquitel de dinheiro; voltará para casa só no dia marcado.
21 She turneth him aside with the abundance of her speech, With the flattery of her lips she forceth him.
21 Assim, o seduziu com palavras muito suaves e o persuadiu com as lisonjas dos seus lábios.
22 He is going after her straightway, As an ox unto the slaughter he cometh, And as a fetter unto the chastisement of a fool,
22 E ele logo a segue, como o boi que vai para o matadouro, e como vai o insensato para o castigo das prisões;
23 Till an arrow doth split his liver, As a bird hath hastened unto a snare, And hath not known that it [is] for its life.
23 Até que a flecha lhe atravesse o fígado; ou como a ave que se apressa para o laço, e não sabe que está armado contra a sua vida.
24 And now, ye sons, hearken to me, And give attention to sayings of my mouth.
24 Agora pois, filhos, dai-me ouvidos, e estai atentos às palavras da minha boca.
25 Let not thy heart turn unto her ways, Do not wander in her paths,
25 Não se desvie para os caminhos dela o teu coração, e não te deixes perder nas suas veredas.
26 For many [are] the wounded she caused to fall, And mighty [are] all her slain ones.
26 Porque a muitos feridos derrubou; e são muitíssimos os que por causa dela foram mortos.
27 The ways of Sheol -- her house, Going down unto inner chambers of death!
27 A sua casa é caminho do inferno que desce para as câmaras da morte.
