1 Hast thou known the time of The bearing of the wild goats of the rock? The bringing forth of hinds thou dost mark!
1 “Você sabe quando nascem os cabritos selvagens ou já viu nascerem as
2 Thou dost number the months they fulfil? And thou hast known the time of their bringing forth!
2 Você sabe quantos meses as suas fêmeas levam para darem cria ou qual é o momento do parto?
3 They bow down, Their young ones they bring forth safely, Their pangs they cast forth.
3 Você sabe quando elas se abaixam para dar cria, trazendo a este mundo os seus filhotes?
4 Safe are their young ones, They grow up in the field, they have gone out, And have not returned to them.
4 Os filhotes crescem fortes, no campo; depois vão embora e não voltam mais.
5 Who hath sent forth the wild ass free? Yea, the bands of the wild ass who opened?
5 “Quem deu a liberdade aos jumentos selvagens? Quem os deixou andar soltos, à vontade?
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, And his dwellings the barren land,
6 Eu lhes dei o deserto para ser a sua casa e os deixei viver nas terras salgadas.
7 He doth laugh at the multitude of a city, The cries of an exactor he heareth not.
7 Eles não querem saber do barulho das cidades; não podem ser domados, nem obrigados a levar cargas.
8 The range of mountains [is] his pasture, And after every green thing he seeketh.
8 Eles pastam nas montanhas, onde procuram qualquer erva verde para comer.
9 Is a Reem willing to serve thee? Doth he lodge by thy crib?
9 “Será que um touro selvagem vai querer trabalhar para você? Será que ele vai passar a noite no seu curral?
10 Dost thou bind a Reem in a furrow [with] his thick band? Doth he harrow valleys after thee?
10 Será que você consegue prendê-lo com cordas ao arado a fim de arar a terra ou puxar o rastelo?
11 Dost thou trust in him because great [is] his power? And dost thou leave unto him thy labour?
11 Será que você pode confiar na grande força que ele tem, deixando por conta dele o trabalho pesado que há para fazer?
12 Dost thou trust in him That he doth bring back thy seed? And [to] thy threshing-floor doth gather [it]?
12 Você espera que ele traga o trigo que você colher e o amontoe no terreiro?
13 The wing of the rattling ones exulteth, Whether the pinion of the ostrich or hawk.
13 “Como batem rápidas as asas da avestruz! Mas nenhuma avestruz voa como a cegonha.
14 For she leaveth on the earth her eggs, And on the dust she doth warm them,
14 A avestruz põe os seus ovos no chão para que a areia quente os faça chocar.
15 And she forgetteth that a foot may press it, And a beast of the field tread it down.
15 Ela nem pensa que alguém vai pisá-los ou que algum animal selvagem pode esmagá-los.
16 Her young ones it hath hardened without her, In vain [is] her labour without fear.
16 Ela age como se os ovos não fossem seus e não se importa que os seus esforços fiquem perdidos.
17 For God hath caused her to forget wisdom, And He hath not given a portion To her in understanding:
17 Fui eu que a fiz assim, sem juízo, e não lhe dei sabedoria.
18 At the time on high she lifteth herself up, She laugheth at the horse and at his rider.
18 Porém, quando ela corre, corre tão depressa, que zomba de qualquer cavalo e cavaleiro.
19 Dost thou give to the horse might? Dost thou clothe his neck [with] a mane?
19 “Jó, por acaso, foi você quem fez os cavalos tão fortes? Foi você quem enfeitou o pescoço deles com a crina?
20 Dost thou cause him to rush as a locust? The majesty of his snorting [is] terrible.
20 É você quem os faz pular como gafanhotos e assustar as pessoas com os seus rinchos?
21 They dig in a valley, and he rejoiceth in power, He goeth forth to meet the armour.
21 Impacientes, eles cavoucam o chão com as patas e correm para a batalha com todas as suas forças.
22 He laugheth at fear, and is not affrighted, And he turneth not back from the face of the sword.
22 Eles não têm medo. Nada os assusta, e a espada não os faz recuar.
23 Against him rattle doth quiver, The flame of a spear, and a halbert.
23 Por cima deles, as flechas assobiam, e as lanças e os
24 With trembling and rage he swalloweth the ground, And remaineth not stedfast Because of the sound of a trumpet.
24 Tremendo de impaciência, eles saem galopando e, quando a corneta soa, não podem parar quietos.
25 Among the trumpets he saith, Aha, And from afar he doth smell battle, Roaring of princes and shouting.
25 Eles respondem com rinchos aos toques das cornetas; de longe sentem o cheiro da batalha e ouvem a gritaria e as ordens de comando.
26 By thine understanding flieth a hawk? Spreadeth he his wings to the south?
26 “É você quem ensina o gavião a voar e abrir as asas no seu voo para o Sul?
27 At thy command goeth an eagle up high? Or lifteth he up his nest?
27 Será que a águia espera que você dê ordem a fim de que ela faça o seu ninho lá no alto?
28 A rock he doth inhabit, Yea, he lodgeth on the tooth of a rock, and fortress.
28 Ela mora nas pedras mais altas e no alto das rochas constrói o seu ninho seguro.
29 From thence he hath sought food, To a far off place his eyes look attentively,
29 Dali enxerga o animal que ela vai atacar, os seus olhos o avistam de longe.
30 And his brood gulph up blood, And where the pierced [are] -- there [is] he!
30 Onde há um animal morto, aí se ajuntam as águias, e os filhotes chupam o sangue.”
