1 My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments within you.
1 Filho, lembre do que eu digo e nunca esqueça os meus conselhos.
2 Keep my commandments and live, and my law as the pupil of your eye.
2 Faça o que eu digo e você viverá. Siga as minhas instruções com o mesmo cuidado com que você protege os olhos.
3 Tie them upon your fingers; write them upon the tablet of your heart.
3 Guarde sempre os meus ensinamentos bem-gravados no coração.
4 Say to wisdom, You are my sister, and call understanding your kinsman,
4 Trate a Sabedoria como sua irmã e o Entendimento, como o seu melhor amigo.
5 that they may keep you from the strange woman, from the foreigner who makes smooth her words.
5 Eles conservarão você longe das mulheres imorais, das mulheres de palavras sedutoras.
6 For I looked through my lattice, at the window of my house,
6 Uma vez eu estava olhando pela janela da minha casa
7 and I saw among the simple ones, I observed among the children a young man lacking heart,
7 e vi vários rapazes sem experiência; mas notei que um deles era mesmo sem juízo.
8 passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
8 Esse rapaz estava andando pela rua, perto da esquina onde morava uma certa mulher. Ele passava por perto da casa dela,
9 in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the middle of the darkness of night.
9 ao anoitecer, quando já estava escuro.
10 And behold, a woman came to meet him, with the attire of a harlot, and a heart of secrecy.
10 E aconteceu que essa mulher foi encontrar-se com ele, vestida como uma prostituta e cheia de malícia.
11 (She is boisterous and stubborn; her feet do not settle down in her own house.
11 Ela era espalhafatosa e sem-vergonha e estava sempre andando pelas ruas.
12 At one moment she is outside, the next in the streets, and she lies in wait at every corner.)
12 Ficava esperando em alguma esquina, às vezes numa rua, outras vezes na praça.
13 So she has seized him and kissed him; and with straight face says to him,
13 Ela chegou perto do rapaz, e o abraçou, e beijou. Então, com um olhar atrevido, disse:
14 Regarding my peace offerings, today I have completed my vows;
14 — Paguei hoje os meus votos, e a carne da oferta de paz está comigo.
15 therefore I came out to meet you, earnestly to seek your face, and I have found you.
15 Por isso saí procurando você. Eu queria encontrá-lo, e você está aqui!
16 I have spread my bed with coverings, with striped cloths of linen from Egypt.
16 Já forrei a minha cama com lençóis de linho colorido do Egito.
17 I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.
17 Eu a perfumei com mirra , aloés e flor de canela.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning; let us delight ourselves with lovemaking.
18 Venha, vamos amar a noite toda. Passaremos momentos felizes nos braços um do outro.
19 For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey.
19 O meu marido não está em casa; ele foi fazer uma longa viagem.
20 He has taken in hand a bag of money, and will come home on the day of the full moon.
20 Levou bastante dinheiro e só voltará daqui a alguns dias.
21 With great persuasion she influences him; with her seductive lips she moves him.
21 Assim, ela o tentou com os seus encantos, e ele caiu na sua conversa.
22 In an instant he goes after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool goes to correction in fetters;
22 E, num instante, lá foi ele com ela, como um boi que vai para o matadouro, como um animal que corre para a armadilha,
23 till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare; and does not realize that it is for his soul.
23 onde uma flecha atravessará o seu coração. Era como um pássaro que entra num alçapão, sem saber que a sua vida está em perigo.
24 Now then, listen to me, O sons, and pay attention to the words of my mouth:
24 Agora, meu filho, escute! Preste atenção no que vou dizer.
25 Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways; do not go astray in her paths.
25 Não deixe que uma mulher como essa ganhe o seu coração; não ande atrás dela.
26 For many are the wounded she has caused to fall, and countless are the ones slain by her.
26 Pois ela tem sido a desgraça de muitos homens e tem causado a morte de tantos, que nem dá para contar.
27 Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the rooms of death.
27 Se você for à casa dessa mulher, estará caminhando para o mundo dos mortos , pelo caminho mais curto.
