1 My soul loathes my life; I will leave behind my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
1 “Estou cansado de minha vida, vou me queixar abertamente; minha alma amargurada precisa se expressar.
2 I will say to God, Do not condemn me; show me why You contend with me.
2 Direi a Deus: ‘Não apenas me condenes; dize-me que acusações tens contra mim.
3 Has it been delightful to You that You oppress, that You despise the work of Your hands, and have shone on the counsel of the wicked?
3 Que vantagem tens em me oprimir? Por que me rejeitas, se sou obra de tuas mãos, enquanto sorris para as tramas dos perversos?
4 Do You have eyes of flesh? Or do You see as man sees?
4 Acaso teus olhos são como os nossos? Vês as coisas como um ser humano qualquer?
5 Are Your days like the days of mortal man? Are Your years like the days of a mighty man,
5 Tua vida é tão breve como a nossa? Vives tão pouco, como o homem,
6 that You should seek out my iniquity and search out my sin,
6 que precisas, sem demora, investigar minha culpa e procurar meu pecado?
7 although You know that I am not wicked, and there is no one who can rescue out of Your hand?
7 Embora saibas que não sou culpado, não há quem possa livrar-me de tuas mãos.
8 Your hands have made me and fashioned me together all around; yet You swallow me up.
8 “‘Tu me formaste com tuas mãos; tu me fizeste e, no entanto, me destróis por completo.
9 Remember, I beseech You, that You have made me like clay. And will You bring me back and return me to dust?
9 Lembra-te de que do barro me fizeste; acaso me farás voltar tão depressa ao pó?
10 Did you not pour me out like milk, and curdle me like cheese?
10 Tu guiaste minha concepção e me moldaste no ventre materno.
11 You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews.
11 Com carne e pele me vestiste e me teceste os ossos com meus tendões.
12 You have granted me life and favor, and Your care has preserved my spirit.
12 Tu me deste vida e me mostraste teu amor, e com teu cuidado me preservaste.
13 And these things You have hidden in Your heart; I have known that this was with You.
13 “‘Teu verdadeiro motivo, porém, tua real intenção,
14 If I have sinned, then You have kept watch over me, and will not acquit me of my iniquity.
14 era me vigiar e, se eu pecasse, não perdoar minha culpa.
15 If I have been wicked, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head; I am full of disgrace. Pay attention to my affliction!
15 Se sou culpado, pior para mim; e, mesmo que eu seja inocente, não posso manter a cabeça erguida, pois estou cheio de vergonha e sofrimento.
16 If I am exalted, You hunt me like a lion, and return to show Yourself wondrously to me.
16 Se mantenho a cabeça erguida, tu me caças como um leão e manifestas contra mim teu imenso poder.
17 You renew Your witnesses against me, and increase Your indignation toward me; changes and war are with me.
17 Repetidas vezes depões contra mim; sobre mim derramas tua ira crescente e me atacas com um exército após o outro.
18 Why then have You brought me out of the womb? Oh, that I had expired and no eye had seen me!
18 “‘Por que, então, me tiraste do ventre de minha mãe? Por que não me deixaste morrer antes de vir ao mundo?
19 I would have been as though I had not been. I would have been carried from the womb to the grave.
19 Seria como se eu nunca tivesse existido; iria direto do ventre para o túmulo.
20 Are not my days few? Then cease and leave me alone, that I may take a little comfort
20 Restam-me apenas alguns dias; por favor, deixa-me em paz, para que eu tenha um instante de alívio
21 before I go and not return; to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;
21 antes de partir para a terra de escuridão e densas sombras, para nunca mais voltar.
22 a land of darkness and gloom, as the shadow of death, without any order; where it shines as darkness.
22 É uma terra escura como a meia-noite, terra de profunda escuridão e desordem, onde até mesmo a luz é escura como a meia-noite’”.
