1 My soul loathes my life; I will leave behind my complaint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
1 A minha alma tem tédio de minha vida; darei livre curso à minha queixa, falarei na amargura da minha alma.
2 I will say to God, Do not condemn me; show me why You contend with me.
2 Direi a Deus: não me condenes; faze-me saber por que contendes comigo.
3 Has it been delightful to You that You oppress, that You despise the work of Your hands, and have shone on the counsel of the wicked?
3 Parece-te bem que me oprimas, que rejeites o trabalho das tuas mãos e resplandeças sobre o conselho dos ímpios?
4 Do You have eyes of flesh? Or do You see as man sees?
4 Tens tu, porventura, olhos de carne? Vês tu como vê o homem?
5 Are Your days like the days of mortal man? Are Your years like the days of a mighty man,
5 São os teus dias como os dias do homem? Ou são os teus anos como os anos de um homem,
6 that You should seek out my iniquity and search out my sin,
6 para te informares da minha iniquidade e averiguares o meu pecado?
7 although You know that I am not wicked, and there is no one who can rescue out of Your hand?
7 Bem sabes tu que eu não sou ímpio; todavia, ninguém há que me livre da tua mão.
8 Your hands have made me and fashioned me together all around; yet You swallow me up.
8 As tuas mãos me fizeram e me entreteceram; e, todavia, me consomes.
9 Remember, I beseech You, that You have made me like clay. And will You bring me back and return me to dust?
9 Peço-te que te lembres de que, como barro, me formaste, e de que ao pó me farás tornar.
10 Did you not pour me out like milk, and curdle me like cheese?
10 Porventura, não me vazaste como leite e como queijo me não coalhaste?
11 You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me together with bones and sinews.
11 De pele e carne me vestiste e de ossos e nervos me entreteceste.
12 You have granted me life and favor, and Your care has preserved my spirit.
12 Vida e beneficência me concedeste; e o teu cuidado guardou o meu espírito.
13 And these things You have hidden in Your heart; I have known that this was with You.
13 Mas estas coisas as ocultaste no teu coração; bem sei eu que isto esteve contigo.
14 If I have sinned, then You have kept watch over me, and will not acquit me of my iniquity.
14 Se eu pecar, tu me observas; e da minha iniquidade não me escusarás.
15 If I have been wicked, woe to me! And if I am righteous, I cannot lift up my head; I am full of disgrace. Pay attention to my affliction!
15 Se for ímpio, ai de mim! E se for justo, não levantarei a cabeça; cheio estou de ignomínia e olho para a minha miséria.
16 If I am exalted, You hunt me like a lion, and return to show Yourself wondrously to me.
16 Porque se me exalto, tu me caças como a um leão feroz, e de novo fazes maravilhas contra mim.
17 You renew Your witnesses against me, and increase Your indignation toward me; changes and war are with me.
17 Tu renovas contra mim as tuas testemunhas e multiplicas contra mim a tua ira; reveses e combate estão comigo.
18 Why then have You brought me out of the womb? Oh, that I had expired and no eye had seen me!
18 Por que, pois, me tiraste da madre? Ah! Se, então, dera o espírito, e olhos nenhuns me vissem!
19 I would have been as though I had not been. I would have been carried from the womb to the grave.
19 Então, fora como se nunca houvera sido; e desde o ventre seria levado à sepultura!
20 Are not my days few? Then cease and leave me alone, that I may take a little comfort
20 Porventura, não são poucos os meus dias? Cessa, pois, e deixa-me para que por um pouco eu tome alento;
21 before I go and not return; to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;
21 antes que me vá, para nunca mais voltar, à terra da escuridão e da sombra da morte;
22 a land of darkness and gloom, as the shadow of death, without any order; where it shines as darkness.
22 terra escuríssima, como a mesma escuridão, terra da sombra da morte e sem ordem alguma, e onde a luz é como a escuridão.
