1 The ⌞wisest of women⌟ builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her hands.
1 A mulher sábia edifica a sua casa, mas a insensata, com as próprias mãos, a derriba.
2 He who walks in uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is devious in his ways displeases him.
2 O que anda na retidão teme ao Senhor , mas o que anda em caminhos tortuosos, esse o despreza.
3 In the mouth of a fool is the rod of pride, but the lips of the wise preserve them.
3 Está na boca do insensato a vara para a sua própria soberba, mas os lábios do prudente o preservarão.
4 ⌞When there are no⌟ oxen the manger is empty, but an abundance of crops comes by the strength of an ox.
4 Não havendo bois, o celeiro fica limpo, mas pela força do boi há abundância de colheitas.
5 A faithful witness does not lie, but he who breathes out falsehood is a witness of deceit.
5 A testemunha verdadeira não mente, mas a falsa se desboca em mentiras.
6 A scoffer seeks wisdom, but there is none, but knowledge ⌞comes easily to him who understands⌟.
6 O escarnecedor procura a sabedoria e não a encontra, mas para o prudente o conhecimento é fácil.
7 Leave ⌞the presence of a foolish man⌟, for you will not come to know ⌞words of knowledge⌟.
7 Foge da presença do homem insensato, porque nele não divisarás lábios de conhecimento.
8 The wisdom of the clever is understanding his ways, but the folly of fools is deceit.
8 A sabedoria do prudente é entender o seu próprio caminho, mas a estultícia dos insensatos é enganadora.
9 Fools mock the guilt offering, but among the upright, it is favorable.
9 Os loucos zombam do pecado, mas entre os retos há boa vontade.
10 The heart knows the bitterness of its soul, but in its joy, it will not share itself with a stranger.
10 O coração conhece a sua própria amargura, e da sua alegria não participará o estranho.
11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
11 A casa dos perversos será destruída, mas a tenda dos retos florescerá.
12 There is a way that seems upright ⌞to⌟ a man, but its end is the way of death.
12 Há caminho que ao homem parece direito, mas ao cabo dá em caminhos de morte.
13 Even in laughter, a heart may be sad, and the end of joy may be grief.
13 Até no riso tem dor o coração, e o fim da alegria é tristeza.
14 From his ways, the perverse of heart will be satisfied, and ⌞from his own⌟, so shall a good man.
14 O infiel de coração dos seus próprios caminhos se farta, como do seu próprio proceder, o homem de bem.
15 The simple will believe every word, but the clever will consider his step.
15 O simples dá crédito a toda palavra, mas o prudente atenta para os seus passos.
16 The wise is cautious and turns from evil, but the fool throws off restraint and is confident.
16 O sábio é cauteloso e desvia-se do mal, mas o insensato encoleriza-se e dá-se por seguro.
17 He who is short of ⌞temper⌟ will act foolishly, and the man who schemes will be hated.
17 O que presto se ira faz loucuras, e o homem de maus desígnios é odiado.
18 The simple are adorned with folly, but the clever are crowned with knowledge.
18 Os simples herdam a estultícia, mas os prudentes se coroam de conhecimento.
19 The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
19 Os maus inclinam-se perante a face dos bons, e os perversos, junto às portas do justo.
20 The poor is disliked even by his neighbor, but the lovers of the rich are many.
20 O pobre é odiado até do vizinho, mas o rico tem muitos amigos.
21 He who despises his neighbor is a sinner, but he who has mercy on the poor blesses him.
21 O que despreza ao seu vizinho peca, mas o que se compadece dos pobres é feliz.
22 Have they not erred, those who plan evil? But loyalty and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
22 Acaso, não erram os que maquinam o mal? Mas amor e fidelidade haverá para os que planejam o bem.
23 In all toil, there is profit, but the ⌞talk⌟ of lips leads only to poverty.
23 Em todo trabalho há proveito; meras palavras, porém, levam à penúria.
24 The crown of the wise is their wealth; the folly of fools is folly.
24 Aos sábios a riqueza é coroa, mas a estultícia dos insensatos não passa de estultícia.
25 He who saves lives is a witness of truth, but he who utters lies is a betrayer.
25 A testemunha verdadeira livra almas, mas o que se desboca em mentiras é enganador.
26 In the fear of Yahweh, there is confidence of strength, and for his children, there will be refuge.
26 No temor do Senhor , tem o homem forte amparo, e isso é refúgio para os seus filhos.
27 The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, in order to turn from the snares of death.
27 O temor do Senhor é fonte de vida para evitar os laços da morte.
28 In the multitude of people is the glory of the king, but without a population, a prince is ruined.
28 Na multidão do povo, está a glória do rei, mas, na falta de povo, a ruína do príncipe.
29 He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but the hasty of spirit exalts folly.
29 O longânimo é grande em entendimento, mas o de ânimo precipitado exalta a loucura.
30 A heart of tranquility is life to the flesh, but causes bones of passion to rot.
30 O ânimo sereno é a vida do corpo, mas a inveja é a podridão dos ossos.
31 He who oppresses the poor insults him who made him, but he who has mercy on the poor honors him.
31 O que oprime ao pobre insulta aquele que o criou, mas a este honra o que se compadece do necessitado.
32 By his evildoing, the wicked will be overthrown, and the righteous will find refuge in his death.
32 Pela sua malícia é derribado o perverso, mas o justo, ainda morrendo, tem esperança.
33 In the heart of him who has understanding, wisdom rests, but even in the midst of fools it becomes known.
33 No coração do prudente, repousa a sabedoria, mas o que há no interior dos insensatos vem a lume.
34 Righteousness will exalt a nation, but sin is a reproach to a people.
34 A justiça exalta as nações, mas o pecado é o opróbrio dos povos.
35 The favor of a king is for the servant who deals wisely, but his wrath will be on him who acts shamefully.
35 O servo prudente goza do favor do rei, mas o que procede indignamente é objeto do seu furor.
