1 The ⌞wisest of women⌟ builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her hands.
1 Toda mulher sábia edifica a sua casa; a insensata, porém, derruba-a com as suas mãos.
2 He who walks in uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is devious in his ways displeases him.
2 Quem anda na sua retidão teme ao Senhor; mas aquele que é perverso nos seus caminhos despreza-o.
3 In the mouth of a fool is the rod of pride, but the lips of the wise preserve them.
3 Na boca do tolo está a vara da soberba, mas os lábios do sábio preservá-lo-ão.
4 ⌞When there are no⌟ oxen the manger is empty, but an abundance of crops comes by the strength of an ox.
4 Onde não há bois, a manjedoura está vazia; mas pela força do boi há abundância de colheitas.
5 A faithful witness does not lie, but he who breathes out falsehood is a witness of deceit.
5 A testemunha verdadeira não mentirá; a testemunha falsa, porém, se desboca em mentiras.
6 A scoffer seeks wisdom, but there is none, but knowledge ⌞comes easily to him who understands⌟.
6 O escarnecedor busca sabedoria, e não a encontra; mas para o prudente o conhecimento é fácil.
7 Leave ⌞the presence of a foolish man⌟, for you will not come to know ⌞words of knowledge⌟.
7 Vai-te da presença do homem insensato, pois nele não acharás palavras de ciência.
8 The wisdom of the clever is understanding his ways, but the folly of fools is deceit.
8 A sabedoria do prudente é entender o seu caminho; porém a estultícia dos tolos é enganar.
9 Fools mock the guilt offering, but among the upright, it is favorable.
9 A culpa zomba dos insensatos; mas os retos têm o favor de Deus.
10 The heart knows the bitterness of its soul, but in its joy, it will not share itself with a stranger.
10 O coração conhece a sua própria amargura; e o estranho não participa da sua alegria.
11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.
11 A casa dos ímpios se desfará; porém a tenda dos retos florescerá.
12 There is a way that seems upright ⌞to⌟ a man, but its end is the way of death.
12 Há um caminho que ao homem parece direito, mas o fim dele conduz à morte.
13 Even in laughter, a heart may be sad, and the end of joy may be grief.
13 Até no riso terá dor o coração; e o fim da alegria é tristeza.
14 From his ways, the perverse of heart will be satisfied, and ⌞from his own⌟, so shall a good man.
14 Dos seus próprios caminhos se fartará o infiel de coração, como também o homem bom se contentará dos seus.
15 The simple will believe every word, but the clever will consider his step.
15 O simples dá crédito a tudo; mas o prudente atenta para os seus passos.
16 The wise is cautious and turns from evil, but the fool throws off restraint and is confident.
16 O sábio teme e desvia-se do mal, mas o tolo é arrogante e dá-se por seguro.
17 He who is short of ⌞temper⌟ will act foolishly, and the man who schemes will be hated.
17 Quem facilmente se ira fará doidices; mas o homem discreto é paciente;
18 The simple are adorned with folly, but the clever are crowned with knowledge.
18 Os simples herdam a estultícia; mas os prudentes se coroam de conhecimento.
19 The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
19 Os maus inclinam-se perante os bons; e os ímpios diante das portas dos justos.
20 The poor is disliked even by his neighbor, but the lovers of the rich are many.
20 O pobre é odiado até pelo seu vizinho; mas os amigos dos ricos são muitos.
21 He who despises his neighbor is a sinner, but he who has mercy on the poor blesses him.
21 O que despreza ao seu vizinho peca; mas feliz é aquele que se compadece dos pobres.
22 Have they not erred, those who plan evil? But loyalty and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.
22 Porventura não erram os que maquinam o mal? mas há beneficência e fidelidade para os que planejam o bem.
23 In all toil, there is profit, but the ⌞talk⌟ of lips leads only to poverty.
23 Em todo trabalho há proveito; meras palavras, porém, só encaminham para a penúria.
24 The crown of the wise is their wealth; the folly of fools is folly.
24 A coroa dos sábios é a sua riqueza; porém a estultícia dos tolos não passa de estultícia.
25 He who saves lives is a witness of truth, but he who utters lies is a betrayer.
25 A testemunha verdadeira livra as almas; mas o que fala mentiras é traidor.
26 In the fear of Yahweh, there is confidence of strength, and for his children, there will be refuge.
26 No temor do Senhor há firme confiança; e os seus filhos terão um lugar de refúgio.
27 The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, in order to turn from the snares of death.
27 O temor do Senhor é uma fonte de vida, para o homem se desviar dos laços da morte.
28 In the multitude of people is the glory of the king, but without a population, a prince is ruined.
28 Na multidão do povo está a glória do rei; mas na falta de povo está a ruína do príncipe.
29 He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but the hasty of spirit exalts folly.
29 Quem é tardio em irar-se é grande em entendimento; mas o que é de ânimo precipitado exalta a loucura.
30 A heart of tranquility is life to the flesh, but causes bones of passion to rot.
30 O coração tranqüilo é a vida da carne; a inveja, porém, é a podridão dos ossos.
31 He who oppresses the poor insults him who made him, but he who has mercy on the poor honors him.
31 O que oprime ao pobre insulta ao seu Criador; mas honra-o aquele que se compadece do necessitado.
32 By his evildoing, the wicked will be overthrown, and the righteous will find refuge in his death.
32 O ímpio é derrubado pela sua malícia; mas o justo até na sua morte acha refúgio.
33 In the heart of him who has understanding, wisdom rests, but even in the midst of fools it becomes known.
33 No coração do prudente repousa a sabedoria; mas no coração dos tolos não é conhecida.
34 Righteousness will exalt a nation, but sin is a reproach to a people.
34 A justiça exalta as nações; mas o pecado é o opróbrio dos povos.
35 The favor of a king is for the servant who deals wisely, but his wrath will be on him who acts shamefully.
35 O favor do rei é concedido ao servo que procede sabiamente; mas sobre o que procede indignamente cairá o seu furor.
