1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,
1 Então Bildade, de Suá, respondeu a Jó:
2 “⌞How long⌟ will you say these things, and the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?
2 “Até quando continuará a falar assim? Suas palavras parecem um vendaval!
3 Does God pervert justice, ⌞or⌟ Shaddai pervert righteousness?
3 Acaso Deus perverte o que é justo? O Todo-poderoso distorce o que é certo?
4 If your children sinned against him, then he sent them into the ⌞power⌟ of their transgression.
4 Certamente seus filhos pecaram contra ele e, por isso, receberam o castigo devido.
5 If you yourself would seek God, then you would plead to Shaddai for grace.
5 Mas, se você buscar a Deus e clamar ao Todo-poderoso,
6 If you are pure and upright, indeed, now he will rouse himself for you, and he will restore your righteous abode.
6 e, se for puro e íntegro, ele sem demora agirá em seu favor e devolverá o que por direito lhe pertence.
7 Though your beginning was small, your end will be very great.
7 E, embora tenha começado com pouco, no final você terá muito.
8 “Indeed, please inquire of former generations, and consider ⌞what their ancestors have found⌟,
8 “Pergunte às gerações anteriores, atente à experiência dos antepassados.
9 for we are of yesterday, and we do not know, for our days on earth are a shadow.
9 Pois nós nascemos ontem e nada sabemos; nossos dias na terra passam como uma sombra.
10 Will they themselves not teach you and ⌞tell you⌟ and ⌞utter⌟ words from their heart?
10 Mas os que vieram antes de nós o instruirão; eles lhe ensinarão a sabedoria de outrora.
11 Can papyrus grow tall where there is not a marsh? Will reeds flourish without water?
11 “Pode o papiro crescer fora do brejo? O junco se desenvolve sem água?
12 While it is in its flower and is not plucked, yet it withers ⌞before⌟ all grass.
12 Quando ainda estão florescendo, antes de ser cortados, começam a secar mais depressa que a grama.
13 So are the paths of all who forget God; and the hope of the godless will perish,
13 O mesmo acontece com todos que se esquecem de Deus; as esperanças do ímpio se evaporam.
14 whose confidence is cut off and ⌞whose trust⌟ is a spider’s house.
14 A confiança dele está por um fio; apoia-se numa teia de aranha.
15 He will lean himself against his house, but it will not stand; he will take hold of it, but it will not endure.
15 Busca segurança no lar, mas ela não durará; tenta agarrá-la com força, mas ela não permanecerá.
16 He is ⌞thriving⌟ ⌞before⌟ the sun, and his plant shoots spread over his garden.
16 O ímpio é como a planta verdejante que cresce ao sol; seus ramos se espalham pelo jardim,
17 His roots twine over a stone heap; he sees a house of stone.
17 suas raízes se aprofundam por entre um montão de pedras e num leito de rochas se firmam.
18 If he destroys him from his place, then it deceives him, saying, ‘I have never seen you.’
18 Mas, quando a planta é arrancada, é como se nunca houvesse existido!
19 Look, this is the joy of his way, and from dust others will spring up.
19 Esse é o fim de sua vida, e do solo brotam outras plantas que tomam seu lugar.
20 “Look, God will not reject the blameless, and he will not uphold the hand of evildoers.
20 “Mas uma coisa é certa: Deus não rejeitará o íntegro, nem estenderá a mão ao perverso.
21 Yet he will fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with a shout of joy.
21 Voltará a encher sua boca de riso, e seus lábios, de gritos de alegria.
22 Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked ⌞will be no more⌟.”
22 Os que odeiam você serão cobertos de vergonha, e o lar dos perversos será destruído”.
