1 Shout ye for joy, unto God our strength, Sound the note of triumph, to the God of Jacob;
1 Cantem de alegria a Deus, nossa força; aclamem o Deus de Jacó!
2 Raise a melody, and strike the timbrel, The lyre so sweet, with the harp:
2 Comecem o louvor, façam ressoar o tamborim, toquem a lira e a harpa melodiosa.
3 Blow, at the new moon, the horn, At the full moon, for the day of our sacred festival:
3 Toquem a trombeta na lua nova e no dia de lua cheia, dia da nossa festa;
4 For, a statute to Israel, it is, A regulation, by the God of Jacob;
4 porque este é um decreto para Israel, uma ordenança do Deus de Jacó,
5 A testimony in Joseph, he appointed it, When he went forth over the land of Egypt: A language I liked not, used I to hear;
5 que ele estabeleceu como estatuto para José, quando atacou o Egito. Ali ouvimos uma língua que não conhecíamos.
6 I took away, from the burden, his shoulder, his hands, from the clay, were set free.
6 Ele diz: "Tirei o peso dos seus ombros; suas mãos ficaram livres dos cestos de cargas.
7 In distress, thou didst cry, and I delivered thee,I answered thee, within a hiding-place of thunder, I proved thee by the waters of Meribah. Selah.
7 Na sua aflição vocês clamaram e eu os livrei, do esconderijo dos trovões lhes respondi; eu os pus à prova nas águas de Meribá. Pausa
8 Hear, O my people, and I will adjure thee, O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me!
8 "Ouça, meu povo, as minhas advertências; se tão-somente você me escutasse, ó Israel!
9 There shall not be, within thee, a foreign GOD,Neither shalt thou bow down to a strange GOD:
9 Não tenha deus estrangeiro no seu meio; não se incline perante nenhum deus estranho.
10 I, Yahweh, am thy God, Who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt,Open wide thy mouth, that I may fill it.
10 Eu sou o Senhor, o seu Deus, que o tirei da terra do Egito. Abra a sua boca, e eu o alimentarei.
11 But my people, hearkened not, unto my voice, Even, Israel, inclined not unto me.
11 "Mas o meu povo não quis ouvir-me; Israel não quis obedecer-me.
12 So then I let them go on in the stubbornness of their own heart, They might walk in their own counsels!
12 Por isso os entreguei ao seu coração obstinado, para seguirem os seus próprios planos.
13 If, my people, were hearkening unto me, Israel, in my ways, would walk,
13 "Se o meu povo apenas me ouvisse, se Israel seguisse os meus caminhos,
14 Right soon, their foes, would I subdue, And, against their adversaries, would I turn my hand:
14 com rapidez eu subjugaria os seus inimigos e voltaria a minha mão contra os seus adversários!
15 The haters of Yahweh, should come cringing unto him, Then let their own good time be age-abiding!
15 Os que odeiam o Senhor se renderiam diante dele, e receberiam um castigo perpétuo.
16 Then would he feed them from the marrow of the wheat, Yea, out of the rockwith honey, would I satisfy thee.
16 Mas eu sustentaria Israel com o melhor trigo, e com o mel da rocha eu o satisfaria".
