1 Shout ye for joy, unto God our strength, Sound the note of triumph, to the God of Jacob;
1 Cantai alegremente a Deus, nossa fortaleza; celebrai o Deus de Jacó.
2 Raise a melody, and strike the timbrel, The lyre so sweet, with the harp:
2 Tomai o saltério e trazei o adufe, a harpa suave e o alaúde.
3 Blow, at the new moon, the horn, At the full moon, for the day of our sacred festival:
3 Tocai a trombeta na Festa da Lua Nova, no tempo marcado para a nossa solenidade.
4 For, a statute to Israel, it is, A regulation, by the God of Jacob;
4 Porque isto é um estatuto para Israel, e uma ordenança do Deus de Jacó.
5 A testimony in Joseph, he appointed it, When he went forth over the land of Egypt: A language I liked not, used I to hear;
5 Ordenou-o em José por testemunho, quando saíra contra a terra do Egito, onde ouvi uma língua que não entendia.
6 I took away, from the burden, his shoulder, his hands, from the clay, were set free.
6 Tirei de seus ombros a carga; as suas mãos ficaram livres dos cestos.
7 In distress, thou didst cry, and I delivered thee,I answered thee, within a hiding-place of thunder, I proved thee by the waters of Meribah. Selah.
7 Clamaste na angústia, e te livrei; respondi-te do lugar oculto dos trovões; provei-te nas águas de Meribá. (Selá)
8 Hear, O my people, and I will adjure thee, O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me!
8 Ouve-me, povo meu, e eu te admoestarei. Ah! Israel, se me ouvisses!
9 There shall not be, within thee, a foreign GOD,Neither shalt thou bow down to a strange GOD:
9 Não haverá entre ti deus alheio, nem te prostrarás ante um deus estranho.
10 I, Yahweh, am thy God, Who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt,Open wide thy mouth, that I may fill it.
10 Eu sou o Senhor , teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egito; abre bem a tua boca, e ta encherei.
11 But my people, hearkened not, unto my voice, Even, Israel, inclined not unto me.
11 Mas o meu povo não quis ouvir a minha voz, e Israel não me quis.
12 So then I let them go on in the stubbornness of their own heart, They might walk in their own counsels!
12 Pelo que eu os entreguei aos desejos do seu coração, e andaram segundo os seus próprios conselhos.
13 If, my people, were hearkening unto me, Israel, in my ways, would walk,
13 Ah! Se o meu povo me tivesse ouvido! Se Israel andasse nos meus caminhos!
14 Right soon, their foes, would I subdue, And, against their adversaries, would I turn my hand:
14 Em breve eu abateria os seus inimigos e voltaria a minha mão contra os seus adversários.
15 The haters of Yahweh, should come cringing unto him, Then let their own good time be age-abiding!
15 Os que aborrecem ao Senhor ter-se-lhe-iam sujeitado, e o tempo dele seria eterno.
16 Then would he feed them from the marrow of the wheat, Yea, out of the rockwith honey, would I satisfy thee.
16 E eu o sustentaria com o trigo mais fino e o saciaria com o mel saído da rocha.
