1 BOOK THE FIFTH O give thanks to YahwehFor he is good, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
1 Deem graças a Deus, o Senhor , porque ele é bom, e porque o seu amor dura para sempre.
2 Let the redeemed of Yahweh say, Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary;
2 Que aqueles que ele libertou repitam isso em louvor ao Ele os livrou das mãos dos seus inimigos
3 And, out of the lands, hath gathered themFrom the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.
3 e fez com que eles voltassem dos países estrangeiros, do Norte e do Sul, do Leste e do Oeste.
4 They wandered about in the desertin a waste, Way to a city to dwell in, found they none;
4 Alguns andaram perdidos pelo deserto e não acharam nenhuma cidade onde morar.
5 Hungryyea thirsty, their soul, within them, fainted:
5 Estavam com fome e com sede e haviam perdido toda a esperança.
6 Then made they outcry to Yahweh, in their peril, Out of their distresses, he rescued them;
6 Então, na sua angústia, gritaram por socorro, e o das suas aflições.
7 And led them by a straight road, That they might journey to a city to dwell in.
7 Ele os levou pelo caminho certo para uma cidade em que pudessem morar.
8 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men;
8 Que eles agradeçam ao Senhor o seu amor e as coisas maravilhosas que fez por eles!
9 For he hath satisfied the longing soul, and, the famished soul, hath he filled with good.
9 Pois ele dá água aos que têm sede e coisas boas aos que estão com fome.
10 The dwellers in darkness and death-shade, bound with oppression and iron;
10 Alguns estavam vivendo na escuridão, nas trevas, aflitos e presos com correntes de ferro
11 Because they had rebelled against the sayings of GOD,and, the counsel of the Most High, they had spurned;
11 porque haviam se revoltado contra as ordens do Deus Altíssimo e rejeitado os seus ensinamentos.
12 And he bowed down, with labour, their heart, They staggered, with no one to help,
12 Por causa do trabalho pesado eles estavam esgotados; caíam, e ninguém os ajudava.
13 Then made they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, Out of their distresses, he saved them;
13 Então, na sua angústia, gritaram por socorro, e o das suas aflições.
14 He brought them forth out of darkness and death-shade, and, their fetters, he tare off.
14 Ele os tirou da escuridão, das trevas, e quebrou em pedaços as correntes que os prendiam.
15 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
15 Que eles agradeçam ao Senhor o seu amor e as coisas maravilhosas que fez por eles!
16 For he brake in pieces the doors of bronze, And, the bars of iron, he hewed asunder.
16 Pois ele derruba portões de bronze e despedaça barras de ferro.
17 The perverse, by reason of their transgression, and on account of their iniquities, are afflicted;
17 Alguns foram insensatos e sofreram por causa dos seus pecados, por causa da sua vida de rebeldia;
18 All manner of food, their soul abhorreth, and so they draw near unto the gates of death,
18 ficaram com enjoo diante da comida e chegaram bem perto da morte.
19 Then make they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, and, out of their distresses, he saveth them.
19 Então, na sua angústia, gritaram por socorro, e o das suas aflições.
20 He sendeth his word, and healeth them, and delivereth them from their graves.
20 Com a sua palavra, ele os curou e os salvou da morte.
21 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
21 Que eles agradeçam ao Senhor o seu amor e as coisas maravilhosas que fez por eles!
22 Yea let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and recount his works with a shout.
22 Que ofereçam sacrifícios de gratidão e, com canções de alegria, anunciem tudo o que ele tem feito!
23 Men who go down to the sea, in ships, doing business through mighty waters;
23 Alguns viajaram em navios nos oceanos, ganhando a vida nos mares;
24 They, see the works of Yahweh, and his wonders in the deep;
24 eles viram o que o Senhor Deus faz, as coisas maravilhosas que realiza nos mares.
25 And he speaketh, and there ariseth a tempestuous wind, which lifteth on high its rolling waves;
25 Ele dava ordem, e um vento forte começava a soprar e a levantar as ondas.
26 They mount the heavens, they descend the roaring deeps, their soul, by trouble, dissolveth;
26 Os navios subiam bem alto e depois mergulhavam nas profundezas. No meio desse perigo, os homens ficavam apavorados.
27 They reel and stagger, like a drunken man, and, all their wisdom, is engulfed,
27 Tropeçavam e andavam balançando como bêbados; e toda a sua prática de marinheiros não adiantava nada.
28 Then make they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, and, out of their distresses, he bringeth them forth,
28 Então, na sua angústia, gritavam por socorro, e o das suas aflições.
29 He calmeth the storm to a whisper, and silent are their rolling waves:
29 Ele acalmava a tempestade, e as ondas ficavam quietas.
30 Then are they glad, because they are hushed, And he guideth them unto their desired haven.
30 Eles se alegravam porque o mar tinha ficado calmo; e assim Deus os levava em segurança para o porto desejado.
31 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
31 Que eles agradeçam ao Senhor o seu amor e as coisas maravilhosas que fez por eles!
32 Yea let them extol him in the convocation of the people, and, in the seated company of elders, let them praise him.
32 Anunciem a sua grandeza quando o povo se reunir; louvem a Deus na assembleia dos líderes.
33 He turneth Rivers into a desert, and, Springs of Water, into thirsty ground,
33 Deus fez com que os rios se tornassem deserto e as fontes de água secassem completamente.
34 A Land of Fruit, into a waste of salt, For the wickedness of them who dwell therein.
34 Ele fez com que a terra boa virasse um deserto salgado por causa da maldade dos que moravam nela.
35 He turneth A Desert, into a pool of water, and, A Parched Land into springs of water;
35 Ele fez com que o deserto se transformasse em lagos e a terra seca virasse fontes de água.
36 And hath caused the famished to dwell there, And they have built them a city to dwell in;
36 Deixou que gente faminta morasse ali. Eles construíram uma cidade e moraram nela;
37 And have sown fields, and planted vineyards, and made them fruits of increase:
37 semearam os campos, fizeram plantações de uvas, e foram boas as colheitas.
38 Thus hath he blessed them, and they have multiplied greatly, And, their cattle, he maketh not few.
38 Deus abençoou o seu povo, e eles tiveram muitos filhos. Deus não deixou que o gado diminuísse.
39 So have they become few and been brought low, By oppression, misfortune, and sorrow;
39 O povo de Deus foi derrotado e humilhado e sentiu o peso do sofrimento e dos maus-tratos.
40 He poureth contempt upon nobles, and causeth them to wander in a pathless waste;
40 Então Deus mostrou o seu desprezo pelos reis que os maltrataram e fez com que esses reis andassem sem rumo na solidão dos desertos.
41 But he hath set the needy on high from affliction, and made families, like a flock:
41 Mas livrou os pobres da miséria e fez com que as suas famílias aumentassem como rebanhos.
42 The upright seeth and is glad, And, all perverseness, hath closed her mouth.
42 Os que são bons veem isso e ficam contentes, mas todos os maus têm de calar a boca.
43 Who is wise? then let him observe these things! and diligently consider the lovingkindness of Yahweh.
43 Que aqueles que são sábios pensem nessas coisas e meditem no amor de Deus, o
