1 BOOK THE FIFTH O give thanks to YahwehFor he is good, For, age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.
1 Dai graças ao SENHOR, porque ele é bom, porque a sua misericórdia dura para sempre.
2 Let the redeemed of Yahweh say, Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary;
2 Assim digam os remidos do SENHOR, a quem ele redimiu da mão do inimigo,
3 And, out of the lands, hath gathered themFrom the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.
3 e os retirou das terras do Oriente e do Ocidente, do norte e do sul.
4 They wandered about in the desertin a waste, Way to a city to dwell in, found they none;
4 Eles vagaram pelo deserto, por caminhos solitários; não encontraram cidade para habitar.
5 Hungryyea thirsty, their soul, within them, fainted:
5 Famintos e sedentos, neles desfalecia a sua alma.
6 Then made they outcry to Yahweh, in their peril, Out of their distresses, he rescued them;
6 Então eles clamaram ao SENHOR na sua dificuldade, e ele os livrou das suas angústias.
7 And led them by a straight road, That they might journey to a city to dwell in.
7 E ele os guiou pelo caminho direito, para que fossem a uma cidade de habitação.
8 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men;
8 Oh, aqueles homens louvariam ao SENHOR pela sua bondade, e pelas suas obras maravilhosas para com os filhos dos homens!
9 For he hath satisfied the longing soul, and, the famished soul, hath he filled with good.
9 Pois ele satisfaz a alma anelante, e enche a alma faminta de bens,
10 The dwellers in darkness and death-shade, bound with oppression and iron;
10 Tal como sentar-se na escuridão e na sombra da morte, preso em aflição e em ferro.
11 Because they had rebelled against the sayings of GOD,and, the counsel of the Most High, they had spurned;
11 Porquanto eles se rebelaram contra as palavras de Deus, e desprezaram o conselho do Altíssimo.
12 And he bowed down, with labour, their heart, They staggered, with no one to help,
12 Portanto, abateu-lhes o coração com trabalho; eles caíram, e não houve quem os ajudasse.
13 Then made they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, Out of their distresses, he saved them;
13 Então eles clamaram ao SENHOR nas suas dificuldades, e ele os salvou das suas angústias.
14 He brought them forth out of darkness and death-shade, and, their fetters, he tare off.
14 Ele os tirou das trevas e da sombra da morte; e quebrou as suas prisões.
15 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
15 Oh, aqueles homens louvariam ao SENHOR pela sua bondade, e pelas suas obras maravilhosas para com os filhos dos homens!
16 For he brake in pieces the doors of bronze, And, the bars of iron, he hewed asunder.
16 Pois ele quebrou os portões de bronze, e cortou as barras de ferro.
17 The perverse, by reason of their transgression, and on account of their iniquities, are afflicted;
17 Os tolos, por causa da sua transgressão, e por causa das suas iniquidades são afligidos.
18 All manner of food, their soul abhorreth, and so they draw near unto the gates of death,
18 A sua alma aborrece todo o tipo de alimento, e eles se aproximam aos portões da morte.
19 Then make they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, and, out of their distresses, he saveth them.
19 Então clamam ao SENHOR nas suas dificuldades, e ele os salva das suas angústias.
20 He sendeth his word, and healeth them, and delivereth them from their graves.
20 Ele enviou a sua palavra, e os curou; e os libertou das suas destruições.
21 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
21 Oh, aqueles homens louvariam ao SENHOR pela sua bondade, e pelas suas obras maravilhosas para com os filhos dos homens!
22 Yea let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and recount his works with a shout.
22 E sacrifiquem os sacrifícios de ações de graças, e declarem as suas obras com regozijo.
23 Men who go down to the sea, in ships, doing business through mighty waters;
23 Os que descem ao mar em navios, que negociam nas grandes águas.
24 They, see the works of Yahweh, and his wonders in the deep;
24 Esses veem as obras do SENHOR, e as suas maravilhas no profundo.
25 And he speaketh, and there ariseth a tempestuous wind, which lifteth on high its rolling waves;
25 Porque ele comanda, e se levanta o vento tempestuoso, o qual eleva as suas ondas.
26 They mount the heavens, they descend the roaring deeps, their soul, by trouble, dissolveth;
26 Eles sobem ao céu, eles descem novamente até ao abismo, e a sua alma se derrete por causa da dificuldade.
27 They reel and stagger, like a drunken man, and, all their wisdom, is engulfed,
27 Eles andam para lá e para cá, cambaleiam como um homem bêbado, e perdem todo o discernimento.
28 Then make they outcry to Yahweh in their peril, and, out of their distresses, he bringeth them forth,
28 Então clamam ao SENHOR na sua dificuldade; e ele os livra das suas angústias.
29 He calmeth the storm to a whisper, and silent are their rolling waves:
29 Ele acalma a tempestade, de modo que as ondas se aquietam.
30 Then are they glad, because they are hushed, And he guideth them unto their desired haven.
30 Então se alegram, porque se aquietaram; então ele os leva ao seu desejado refúgio.
31 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his lovingkindness, and for his wonderful dealings with the sons of men!
31 Oh, aqueles homens louvariam ao SENHOR pela sua bondade, e pelas suas obras maravilhosas para com os filhos dos homens!
32 Yea let them extol him in the convocation of the people, and, in the seated company of elders, let them praise him.
32 Exaltem-no também na congregação do povo, e louvem-no na assembleia dos anciãos.
33 He turneth Rivers into a desert, and, Springs of Water, into thirsty ground,
33 Ele converte os rios em deserto, e as nascentes em solo seco;
34 A Land of Fruit, into a waste of salt, For the wickedness of them who dwell therein.
34 a terra frutífera em estéril, por causa da maldade dos que nela habitam.
35 He turneth A Desert, into a pool of water, and, A Parched Land into springs of water;
35 Ele transforma o deserto em um lago, e o solo seco em nascentes.
36 And hath caused the famished to dwell there, And they have built them a city to dwell in;
36 E ali ele faz habitar os famintos, para que preparem uma cidade para habitação;
37 And have sown fields, and planted vineyards, and made them fruits of increase:
37 e semeiem os campos, e plantem vinhas, que possam produzir fruto abundante.
38 Thus hath he blessed them, and they have multiplied greatly, And, their cattle, he maketh not few.
38 Ele também os abençoa, de modo que se multiplicam grandemente; e não permite que o seu gado diminua.
39 So have they become few and been brought low, By oppression, misfortune, and sorrow;
39 Outra vez eles são diminuídos e abatidos pela opressão, e aflição e angústia.
40 He poureth contempt upon nobles, and causeth them to wander in a pathless waste;
40 Ele derrama o desprezo sobre os príncipes, e os faz vaguear pelo deserto, onde não há caminho.
41 But he hath set the needy on high from affliction, and made families, like a flock:
41 Todavia, coloca o pobre acima da aflição, e dá-lhe famílias como rebanhos.
42 The upright seeth and is glad, And, all perverseness, hath closed her mouth.
42 Os retos hão de ver e se alegrar, e toda a iniquidade fechará a sua boca.
43 Who is wise? then let him observe these things! and diligently consider the lovingkindness of Yahweh.
43 Quem é sábio observará estas coisas, e eles compreenderão as benignidades do SENHOR.
