1 But, in very deed, hear, I pray thee, Job, my discourse, and, to all my words, give thou ear.
1 Assim, na verdade, ó Jó, ouve as minhas razões e dá ouvidos a todas as minhas palavras.
2 Lo! I pray thee, I have opened my mouth, My tongue, with my palate, hath spoken,
2 Eis que já abri a minha boca; já falou a minha língua debaixo do meu paladar.
3 Mine utterances come straight from mine own heart, and, what I know, my lips have truly spoken;
3 As minhas razões sairão da sinceridade do meu coração; e a pura ciência, dos meus lábios.
4 The spirit of GOD, hath made me, and, the inspiration of the Almighty, giveth me life.
4 O Espírito de Deus me fez; e a inspiração do Todo-Poderoso me deu vida.
5 If thou art able to answer me, Set in order before metake thy stand!
5 Se podes, responde-me; dispõe bem as tuas razões e levanta-te.
6 Lo! I am like thyself toward GOD, From clay, have I been nipped off, even I!
6 Eis que vim de Deus, como tu; do lodo também eu fui formado.
7 Lo! my terror, will not startle thee, nor, my hand, upon thee, be heavy.
7 Eis que não te perturbará o meu terror, nem será pesada sobre ti a minha mão.
8 But thou hast spoken in mine ears, and, the sound of words, I heard:
8 Na verdade, tu falaste aos meus ouvidos; e eu ouvi a voz das tuas palavras; dizias:
9 Pure am, I, without transgression,Clean am, I, and have no iniquity;
9 Limpo estou, sem transgressão; puro sou; e não tenho culpa.
10 Lo! occasions of hostility, would he find against me, He counteth me an enemy to him;
10 Eis que ele acha contra mim ocasiões e me considerou como seu inimigo.
11 He puttethin the stocksmy feet, He watcheth all my paths.
11 Põe no tronco os meus pés e observa todas as minhas veredas.
12 Lo! in this, thou hast not been rightlet me answer thee, For, GOD, is greater than, man.
12 Eis que nisto te respondo: Não foste justo; porque maior é Deus do que o homem.
13 Wherefore, against him, hast thou contended? For, with none of his reasons, will he respond.
13 Por que razão contendes com ele? Porque ele não dá contas de nenhum dos seus feitos.
14 For, in one way, GOD may speak,and, in a second way, one may not heed it:
14 Antes, Deus fala uma e duas vezes; porém ninguém atenta para isso.
15 In a dream, a vision of the night, when a deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed,
15 Em sonho ou em visão de noite, quando cai sono profundo sobre os homens, e adormecem na cama,
16 Then, uncovereth he the ear of men, and, on their correction, affixeth a seal;
16 então, abre os ouvidos dos homens, e lhes sela a sua instrução,
17 To turn a son of earth from his deed, while yet, pride, from man he concealeth:
17 para apartar o homem do seu desígnio e esconder do homem a soberba;
18 He keepeth back his said from the pit, and his life from passing away by a weapon.
18 para desviar a sua alma da cova e a sua vida, de passar pela espada.
19 Or he is chastised with pain, upon his bed, and, the strife of his bones, is unceasing!
19 Também na sua cama é com dores castigado, e com a incessante contenda dos seus ossos;
20 So that his life maketh loathsome food, and his soul, dainty meat;
20 de modo que a sua vida abomina até o pão; e a sua alma, a comida apetecível.
21 His flesh wasteth away out of sight, and bared are the bones once unseen;
21 Desaparece a sua carne a olhos vistos; e os seus ossos, que se não viam, agora aparecem;
22 So doth his soul draw near to the pit, and his life to the inflicters of death:
22 e a sua alma se vai chegando à cova; e a sua vida, ao que traz morte.
23 If there hath been near him a messenger who could interpretone of a thousand, to declare to the son of earth His uprightness,
23 Se com ele, pois, houver um mensageiro, um intérprete, um entre milhares para declarar ao homem a sua retidão,
24 Then hath he shewed him favour, and said, Set him free from going down to the pit, I have found a price of redemption!
24 então, terá misericórdia dele e lhe dirá: Livra-o, que não desça à cova; já achei resgate.
25 His flesh hath been made fresher than a childs, he hath returned to the days of his youth;
25 Sua carne se reverdecerá mais do que na sua infância e tornará aos dias da sua juventude.
26 He made supplication unto GOD, who hath accepted him, and he hath beheld his face with a shout of triumph, Thus hath he given back to man his righteousness.
26 Deveras, orará a Deus, que se agradará dele, e verá a sua face com júbilo, e restituirá ao homem a sua justiça.
27 He sang before men, and said, I sinned, and, uprightness, I perverted, yet he requited me not;
27 Olhará para os homens e dirá: Pequei e perverti o direito, o que de nada me aproveitou.
28 He hath ransomed my soul from passing away into the pit,and, my life, in the light, shall have vision.
28 Mas Deus livrou a minha alma de ir para a cova; e a minha vida verá a luz.
29 Lo! a these things, doth GOD work, two ways, three, with a man;
29 Eis que tudo isto é obra de Deus, duas e três vezes para com o homem,
30 To bring back his soul from the pit, to enlighten with the light of the living.
30 para desviar a sua alma da perdição e o alumiar com a luz dos viventes.
31 Mark well, O Job, and hearken to me, Be silent, and, I, will speak:
31 Escuta, pois, ó Jó, ouve-me; cala-te, e eu falarei.
32 If there is anything to say, reply to me, Speak, for I desire to justify thee;
32 Se tens alguma coisa que dizer, responde-me; fala, porque desejo justificar-te.
33 If not, do, thou, hearken unto me, Be silent, that I may teach thee wisdom.
33 Se não, escuta-me tu; cala-te, e ensinar-te-ei a sabedoria.
