1 Then responded Job, and said:
1 Respondeu, porém, Jó, dizendo:
2 How long will ye grieve my soul? or crush me with words?
2 Até quando afligireis a minha alma, e me quebrantareis com palavras?
3 These ten times, have ye reviled me, Shameless ye wrong me.
3 Já dez vezes me vituperastes; não tendes vergonha de injuriar-me.
4 And even if indeed I have erred, with myself lodgeth mine error.
4 Embora haja eu, na verdade, errado, comigo ficará o meu erro.
5 If indeed, against me, ye must needs magnify yourselves, and plead, against me, my reproach.
5 Se deveras vos quereis engrandecer contra mim, e argüir-me pelo meu opróbrio,
6 Know, then, that, God, hath overthrown me, and, within his net, enclosed me.
6 Sabei agora que Deus é o que me transtornou, e com a sua rede me cercou.
7 Lo! I cryout: Violence! but receive no answer, I cry aloud, but there is no vindication;
7 Eis que clamo: Violência! Porém não sou ouvido. Grito: Socorro! Porém não há justiça.
8 My way, hath he walled up, that I cannot pass, and, upon my paths, hath he made darkness rest;
8 O meu caminho ele entrincheirou, e já não posso passar, e nas minhas veredas pôs trevas.
9 My gloryfrom off me, hath he stripped, and hath removed the crown of my head;
9 Da minha honra me despojou; e tirou-me a coroa da minha cabeça.
10 He hath ruined me on every side, and I am gone, and he hath taken awaylike a treemy hope;
10 Quebrou-me de todos os lados, e eu me vou; e arrancou a minha esperança, como a uma árvore.
11 Yea he hath kindled against me his anger, and accounted me towards him like unto his adversaries;
11 E fez inflamar contra mim a sua ira, e me reputou para consigo, como a seus inimigos.
12 Together, enter his troops and have cast up, against me, their mound, and have encamped all around my tent;
12 Juntas vieram as suas tropas, e prepararam contra mim o seu caminho, e se acamparam ao redor da minha tenda.
13 My Brethrenfrom beside me, hath he moved far away, and, mine acquaintance, are wholly estranged from me;
13 pôs longe de mim a meus irmãos, e os que me conhecem, como estranhos se apartaram de mim.
14 Failed me, have my near of kin, and, mine intimate acquaintances, have forgotten me;
14 Os meus parentes me deixaram, e os meus conhecidos se esqueceram de mim.
15 Ye guests of my house and my maidens, A stranger, have ye accounted me, An alien, have I become in their eyes;
15 Os meus domésticos e as minhas servas me reputaram como um estranho, e vim a ser um estrangeiro aos seus olhos.
16 To mine own servant, I called, and he would not answer, With mine own mouth, I kept entreating him;
16 Chamei a meu criado, e ele não me respondeu; cheguei a suplicar-lhe com a minha própria boca.
17 My breath, is strange to my wife, and I am loathsome to the sons of my own mother;
17 O meu hálito se fez estranho à minha mulher; tanto que supliquei o interesse dos filhos do meu corpo.
18 Even young children, despise me, I rise up, and they speak against me;
18 Até os pequeninos me desprezam, e, levantando-me eu, falam contra mim.
19 All the men of mine intimate circle abhor me, and, these whom I loved, have turned against me;
19 Todos os homens da minha confidência me abominam, e até os que eu amava se tornaram contra mim.
20 Unto my skin and unto my flesh, have my bones cleaved, and I have escaped with the akin of my teeth.
20 Os meus ossos se apegaram à minha pele e à minha carne, e escapei só com a pele dos meus dentes.
21 Pity me! pity me! ye, my friends, for, the hand of GOD, hath stricken me!
21 Compadecei-vos de mim, amigos meus, compadecei-vos de mim, porque a mão de Deus me tocou.
22 Wherefore should ye persecute me as GOD? and, with my flesh, should not he satisfied?
22 Por que me perseguis assim como Deus, e da minha carne não vos fartais?
23 Oh, then, that my words, could be written, Oh that, in a record, they could be inscribed:
23 Quem me dera agora, que as minhas palavras fossem escritas! Quem me dera, fossem gravadas num livro!
24 That, with a stylus of iron and lead, for all timein the rock, they could be graven!
24 E que, com pena de ferro, e com chumbo, para sempre fossem esculpidas na rocha.
25 But, I, know that, my redeemer, liveth, and, as the Last over dust, will he arise;
25 Porque eu sei que o meu Redentor vive, e que por fim se levantará sobre a terra.
26 And, though, after my skin is struck off, this , yet, apart from my flesh, shall I see GOD:
26 E depois de consumida a minha pele, contudo ainda em minha carne verei a Deus,
27 Whom, I myself, shall see, on my side, and, mine own eyes, have looked upon, and not those of a stranger. Exhausted are my deepest desires in my bosom!
27 Vê-lo-ei, por mim mesmo, e os meus olhos, e não outros o contemplarão; e por isso os meus rins se consomem no meu interior.
28 Surely ye should sayWhy should we persecute him? seeing, the root of the matter, is found in me.
28 Na verdade, que devíeis dizer: Por que o perseguimos? Pois a raiz da acusação se acha em mim.
29 Be ye afraidon your partof the face of the sword, because, wrath,
29 Temei vós mesmos a espada; porque o furor traz os castigos da espada, para saberdes que há um juízo.
