1 But, concerning the times and the seasons, brethren,ye have, no need, that, unto you, anything be written;
1 Não é necessário, irmãos, que eu lhes escreva sobre quando e como tudo isso acontecerá,
2 For, ye yourselves, perfectly well knowthat, the day of the Lord, as a thief in the night, so, cometh;
2 pois vocês sabem muito bem que o dia do Senhor virá inesperadamente, como ladrão à noite.
3 As soon as they begin to sayPeace! and safety! then, suddenly, upon them, cometh destruction,just as the birth-throe unto her that is with child,and in nowise shall they escape.
3 Quando as pessoas disserem: “Tudo está em paz e seguro”, então o desastre lhes sobrevirá tão repentinamente como iniciam as dores de parto de uma mulher grávida, e não haverá como escapar.
4 But, ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that, the day, upon you, as upon thieves, should lay hold;
4 Mas vocês, irmãos, não estão na escuridão a respeito dessas coisas e não devem se surpreender quando o dia do Senhor vier como ladrão.
5 For, all ye, are, sons of light, and sons of day,we are not of night, nor of darkness:
5 Porque todos vocês são filhos da luz e do dia. Não pertencemos à escuridão e à noite.
6 Hence, then, let us not be sleeping, as the rest, but let us watch and be sober:
6 Portanto, fiquem atentos; não durmam como os outros. Permaneçam atentos e sejam sóbrios.
7 For, they that sleep, by night, do sleep, and, they that drink, by night, do drink:
7 À noite, as pessoas dormem e os bêbados se embriagam.
8 But, we, being of the day, let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and, for helmet, the hope of salvation.
8 Mas nós, que vivemos na luz, devemos ser sóbrios, protegidos pela armadura da fé e do amor, usando o capacete da esperança da salvação.
9 Because God did not appoint us unto anger, but unto acquiring salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ :
9 Porque Deus decidiu nos salvar por meio de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, em vez de derramar sua ira sobre nós.
10 Who died for us, in order that, whether we be watching or sleeping, together with him, we should live.
10 Cristo morreu por nós para que, quer estejamos despertos, quer dormindo, vivamos com ele para sempre.
11 Wherefore be consoling one another, and building up, each the other,even as ye are also doing.
11 Portanto, animem e edifiquem uns aos outros, como têm feito.
12 Now we request you, brethren,to know them who are toiling among you, and presiding over you, in the Lord, and admonishing you;
12 Irmãos, honrem seus líderes na obra do Senhor. Eles trabalham arduamente entre vocês e lhes dão orientações.
13 And to hold them in very high esteem, in love, their works sake. Be at peace among yourselves,
13 Tenham grande respeito e amor sincero por eles, por causa do trabalho que realizam. E vivam em paz uns com os outros.
14 But we exhort you, brethrenadmonish the disorderly, soothe them of little soul, help the weak, be longsuffering towards all:
14 Irmãos, pedimos que advirtam os indisciplinados. Encorajem os desanimados. Ajudem os fracos. Sejam pacientes com todos.
15 See that none, evil for evil, unto any, do render: but, evermore, what is good, be pursuing, towards one another, and towards all:
15 Cuidem que ninguém retribua o mal com o mal, mas procurem sempre fazer o bem uns aos outros e a todos.
16 Evermore, rejoice,
16 Estejam sempre alegres.
17 Unceasingly, pray,
17 Nunca deixem de orar.
18 In everything, give thanks,for, this, is a thing willed of God, in Christ Jesus, towards you:
18 Sejam gratos em todas as circunstâncias, pois essa é a vontade de Deus para vocês em Cristo Jesus.
19 The Spirit, do not quench,
19 Não apaguem o Espírito.
20 Prophesyings, do not despise,
20 Não desprezem as profecias,
21 But , all things, put to the proofwhat is comely, hold ye fast:
21 mas ponham à prova tudo que é dito e fiquem com o que é bom.
22 From every form of wickedness, abstain.
22 Mantenham-se afastados de toda forma de mal.
23 But, the God of peace himself, hallow you completely, and, entire, might your spirit, and soul, and body, unblameable in the Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ,be preserved!
23 E, agora, que o Deus da paz os torne santos em todos os aspectos, e que o espírito, a alma e o corpo de vocês sejam mantidos irrepreensíveis até a volta de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
24 Faithful, is he that is calling you,who, also will perform.
24 Aquele que os chama fará isso acontecer, pois ele é fiel.
25 Brethren! be praying for us also .
25 Irmãos, orem por nós.
26 Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.
26 Cumprimentem todos os irmãos com beijo santo.
27 I adjure you, by the Lord, that the letter be read unto all the brethren!
27 Encarrego-os em nome do Senhor de lerem esta carta a todos os irmãos.
28 The favour of our Lord Jesus Christ, be with you.
28 Que a graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo esteja com vocês.
