1 But, concerning the times and the seasons, brethren,ye have, no need, that, unto you, anything be written;
1 Mas, acerca dos tempos e das estações, irmãos, não necessitais de que eu vos escreva;
2 For, ye yourselves, perfectly well knowthat, the day of the Lord, as a thief in the night, so, cometh;
2 porque vós mesmos sabeis perfeitamente que o dia do Senhor virá como o ladrão de noite.
3 As soon as they begin to sayPeace! and safety! then, suddenly, upon them, cometh destruction,just as the birth-throe unto her that is with child,and in nowise shall they escape.
3 Porque quando disserem: Paz e segurança, então, repentina destruição virá sobre eles, como as dores de parto à mulher grávida; e não escaparão.
4 But, ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that, the day, upon you, as upon thieves, should lay hold;
4 Mas vós, irmãos, não estais em trevas, para que aquele dia vos surpreenda como um ladrão;
5 For, all ye, are, sons of light, and sons of day,we are not of night, nor of darkness:
5 porque todos vós sois filhos da luz e filhos do dia; nós não somos da noite nem das trevas.
6 Hence, then, let us not be sleeping, as the rest, but let us watch and be sober:
6 Portanto, não durmamos, como fazem os outros, mas vigiemos e sejamos sóbrios.
7 For, they that sleep, by night, do sleep, and, they that drink, by night, do drink:
7 Porque os que dormem, dormem de noite, e os que se embebedam, embebedam-se de noite.
8 But, we, being of the day, let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and, for helmet, the hope of salvation.
8 Mas nós, que somos do dia, sejamos sóbrios, vestindo-nos da couraça da fé e do amor e por capacete a esperança da salvação.
9 Because God did not appoint us unto anger, but unto acquiring salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ :
9 Porque Deus não nos designou para a ira, mas para a aquisição da salvação, por nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo,
10 Who died for us, in order that, whether we be watching or sleeping, together with him, we should live.
10 que morreu por nós, para que, quer vigiemos, quer durmamos, vivamos juntamente com ele.
11 Wherefore be consoling one another, and building up, each the other,even as ye are also doing.
11 Pelo que, consolai-vos uns aos outros e edificai-vos uns aos outros, como também o fazeis.
12 Now we request you, brethren,to know them who are toiling among you, and presiding over you, in the Lord, and admonishing you;
12 E suplicamos a vós, irmãos, que reconheçais os que trabalham entre vós, e que presidem sobre vós no Senhor, e vos admoestam;
13 And to hold them in very high esteem, in love, their works sake. Be at peace among yourselves,
13 e que os tenhais em grande estima em amor, por causa da sua obra. E tende paz entre vós.
14 But we exhort you, brethrenadmonish the disorderly, soothe them of little soul, help the weak, be longsuffering towards all:
14 Nós vos exortamos, irmãos, que admoesteis aqueles que são desordeiros, consoleis os de pouco ânimo, sustenteis os fracos e sejais pacientes para com todos os homens.
15 See that none, evil for evil, unto any, do render: but, evermore, what is good, be pursuing, towards one another, and towards all:
15 Vede que ninguém dê mal por mal a nenhum homem, mas segui o que é bom, tanto uns para com os outros como para com todos os homens.
16 Evermore, rejoice,
16 Regozijai-vos sempre.
17 Unceasingly, pray,
17 Orai sem cessar.
18 In everything, give thanks,for, this, is a thing willed of God, in Christ Jesus, towards you:
18 Em todas as coisas dai graças, porque esta é a vontade de Deus em Cristo Jesus para convosco.
19 The Spirit, do not quench,
19 Não apagueis o Espírito.
20 Prophesyings, do not despise,
20 Não desprezeis as profecias.
21 But , all things, put to the proofwhat is comely, hold ye fast:
21 Examinai todas as coisas, retende o que é bom.
22 From every form of wickedness, abstain.
22 Abstende-vos de toda aparência do mal.
23 But, the God of peace himself, hallow you completely, and, entire, might your spirit, and soul, and body, unblameable in the Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ,be preserved!
23 E o mesmo Deus de paz vos santifique completamente; e oro a Deus que todo o vosso espírito, e alma, e corpo sejam preservados irrepreensíveis para a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
24 Faithful, is he that is calling you,who, also will perform.
24 Fiel é o que vos chama, o qual também o fará.
25 Brethren! be praying for us also .
25 Irmãos, orai por nós.
26 Salute all the brethren with a holy kiss.
26 Saudai a todos os irmãos com um beijo santo.
27 I adjure you, by the Lord, that the letter be read unto all the brethren!
27 Conjuro-vos pelo Senhor que esta carta seja lida a todos os santos irmãos.
28 The favour of our Lord Jesus Christ, be with you.
28 A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo seja convosco. Amém.
