1 Whoso loveth correction loveth knowledge; but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
1 Aquele que ama a correção ama a ciência, mas o que detesta a reprimenda é um insensato.
2 The good obtaineth favor of the Lord; but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
2 O homem de bem alcança a benevolência do Senhor; o Senhor condena o homem que premedita o mal.
3 A man cannot be firmly established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous will not be moved.
3 Não se firma o homem pela impiedade, mas a raiz dos justos não será abalada.
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but as rottenness in his bones is one that bringeth shame on him.
4 Uma mulher virtuosa é a coroa de seu marido, mas a insolente é como a cárie nos seus ossos.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are justice: the best counsels of the wicked are deceit.
5 Os pensamentos dos justos são cheios de retidão; as tramas dos perversos são cheias de dolo.
6 The words of the wicked are of lying in wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright will deliver them.
6 As palavras dos ímpios são ciladas mortíferas, enquanto a boca dos justos os salva.
7 The wicked are suddenly overthrown, and are no more; but the house of the righteous will endure.
7 Transtornados, os ímpios não subsistirão, mas a casa dos justos permanecerá firme.
8 In accordance with his intelligence is a man praised; but he that is perverse of heart will come to be despised.
8 Avalia-se um homem segundo a sua inteligência, mas o perverso de coração incorrerá em desprezo.
9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed who hath a servant, than he that aimeth after honor, and lacketh bread.
9 Mais vale um homem humilde, que tem um servo, que o jactancioso, que não tem o que comer.
10 A righteous man careth for the life of his beast; but the mercies of the wicked are cruelty.
10 O justo cuida das necessidades do seu gado, mas cruéis são as entranhas do ímpio.
11 He that tilleth his ground will be satisfied with bread; but he that runneth after idle persons is void of sense.
11 Quem cultiva sua terra será saciado de pão; quem procura as futilidades é um insensato.
12 The wicked is covetous for the net of evil men; but God giveth root to the righteous.
12 O ímpio cobiça o laço do perverso, mas a raiz do justo produz fruto.
13 In the transgression of his lips is the snare of the wicked; but the righteous cometh out of distress.
13 No pecado dos lábios há uma cilada funesta, mas o justo livra-se da angústia.
14 From the fruit of his mouth will a man be satisfied with what is good; and the recompense of a mans hands will be brought back unto him.
14 O homem se farta com o fruto de sua boca; cada qual recebe a recompensa da obra de suas mãos.
15 The way of a fool is straight in his own eyes; but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
15 Ao insensato parece reto seu caminho, enquanto o sábio ouve os conselhos.
16 The wrath of the fool is known on the very day; but he that concealeth the disgrace is prudent.
16 O louco mostra logo a sua irritação; o circunspecto dissimula o ultraje.
17 He that uttereth truth announceth righteousness; but a false witness, deceit.
17 O homem sincero anuncia a justiça; a testemunha falsa profere mentira.
18 There is some one that useth words which are like the thrusts of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is healing.
18 O falador fere com golpes de espada; a língua dos sábios, porém, cura.
19 The lip of truth will stand firm for ever; but only for a moment the tongue of falsehood.
19 Os lábios sinceros permanecem sempre constantes; a língua mentirosa dura como um abrir e fechar de olhos.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those that contrive evil; but for the counsellors of peace there is joy.
20 No coração dos que tramam males há engano; a alegria está naqueles que dão conselhos de paz.
21 No wrong can come unawares to the righteous; but the wicked are full of evil.
21 Ao justo nenhum mal pode abater, mas os maus enchem-se de tristezas.
22 An abomination of the Lord are lips of falsehood; but they that deal in faithfulness obtain his favor.
22 Os lábios mentirosos são abominação para o Senhor, mas os que procedem com fidelidade agradam-lhe.
23 A prudent man concealeth his knowledge; but the heart of fools proclaimeth their folly.
23 O homem prudente oculta sua sabedoria; o coração dos insensatos proclama sua própria loucura.
24 The hand of the diligent will bear rule; but the indolent must become tributary.
24 A mão diligente dominará; a mão preguiçosa torna-se tributária.
25 If there be care in the heart of man, let him suppress it; and a good word will change it into joy.
25 A aflição no coração do homem o deprime; uma boa palavra restitui-lhe a alegria.
26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbor; but the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.
26 O justo guia seu companheiro, mas o caminho dos ímpios os perde.
27 The indolent roasteth not that which he hath caught in hunting; but the most precious wealth of man is diligence.
27 O indolente não assa o que caçou; um homem diligente, porém, é um tesouro valioso.
28 On the path of righteousness there is life; and on her pathway there is immortality,
28 A vida está na vereda da justiça; o caminho do ódio, porém, conduz à morte.
