1 Then commenced Elihu, and said,
1 Eliú disse ainda:
2 Dost thou deem this to be just, that thou hast said, "My righteousness is more than Gods?"
2 “Você acha que é justo dizer: ‘A minha justiça é maior do que a de Deus’?
3 For thou sayest, "What benefit will it be unto thee? what more profit shall I have, than if I had sinned?"
3 Porque você diz: ‘De que me serviria ela? Que proveito tenho, se eu não pecar?’
4 I will truly reply unto thee with words, and unto thy friends with thee.
4 Eu darei a resposta a você e aos seus amigos também.
5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and gaze on the skies which are higher than thou.
5 Olhe para o céu e veja; contemple as altas nuvens acima de você.”
6 If thou sin, what dost thou effect against him? and if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him?
6 “Se você peca, que mal causa a Deus? Se as suas transgressões se multiplicam, que prejuízo isso poderia trazer a ele?
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what doth he accept out of thy hand?
7 Se você é justo, o que está dando a ele ou o que ele recebe da sua mão?
8 A man like thyself thy wickedness may reach, and a son of earth thy righteousness.
8 A sua impiedade só pode fazer mal ao homem; e a sua justiça só pode dar proveito ao filho do homem.”
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions the wicked cause men to cry: these complain aloud because of the arm of the mighty.
9 “Por causa das muitas opressões, as pessoas clamam; clamam por socorro contra o braço dos poderosos.
10 But man saith not, Where is God my maker, who bestoweth joyful songs even in the night;
10 Mas ninguém diz: ‘Onde está Deus, que me fez, que inspira canções de louvor durante a noite,
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of the heavens?
11 que nos ensina mais do que aos animais da terra e nos faz mais sábios do que as aves dos céus?’
12 There do they cry, but he answereth not: because of the pride of evil men.
12 Clamam, porém ele não responde, por causa da arrogância dos maus.
13 Only what is false will God not hear, nor will the Almighty regard it.
13 Só gritos vazios Deus não ouvirá; o Todo-Poderoso não lhes dará atenção.”
14 Although thou sayest, thou canst not see him: yet the decision is before him; and do thou wait for him.
14 “Jó, ainda que você diga que não o vê, a sua causa está diante dele; por isso, espere em Deus.
15 But now, because his anger hath punished nothing, shall he not greatly take cognizance of the multitude of sins?
15 Mas agora, porque Deus na sua ira não está punindo, nem fazendo muito caso das transgressões,
16 But Job openeth wide his mouth for nought: without knowledge he heapeth up words.
16 você abre a sua boca com palavras vazias, amontoando frases sem sabedoria.”
