1 Do not be envious of evil men, neither desire to be with them.
1 Não tenhas invejas dos homens maus, nem desejes estar com eles;
2 For their heart studies robbery, and their lips speak evil.
2 porque o seu coração medita a destruição, e os seus lábios falam de danos.
3 Through wisdom the house shall be built, and with intelligence it shall be established:
3 Através da sabedoria se edifica uma casa, e pelo entendimento ela é estabelecida;
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and beautiful riches.
4 e pelo conhecimento se encherão as câmaras com todas as riquezas preciosas e agradáveis.
5 The wise man is strong; and the man of understanding is a mighty man of valour.
5 Um homem sábio é forte; sim, um homem de conhecimento aumenta a força.
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war, and in the multitude of counsellors there is saving health.
6 Porque com conselhos sábios tu farás a guerra; e na multidão de conselheiros há segurança.
7 Wisdom, is too high for a fool; he shall not open his mouth in the gate.
7 A sabedoria é alta demais para um tolo; ele não abre a sua boca no portão.
8 He that devises to do evil shall be called a man of evil designs.
8 Aquele que pensa em fazer o mal, será chamado de pessoa danosa.
9 The thought of the foolish is sin, and the scorner is an abomination to men.
9 O pensamento do tolo é pecado, e o escarnecedor é uma abominação aos homens.
10 If thou art slack in the day of tribulation, thy strength shall be reduced.
10 Se te enfraqueceres no dia da adversidade, tua força é pequena.
11 If thou forbear to deliver [those that are] drawn unto death and [those that are] ready to be slain,
11 Livra os que estão sendo levados para a morte, e os que estão prestes a serem mortos, a esses detém.
12 if thou should say, Behold, we knew it not; shall not he that weighs the hearts understand [it]? and he that keeps thy soul, does he [not] know [it]? and shall he [not] render to [every] man according to his works?
12 Se dizes: Eis que não sabíamos; aquele que pondera o coração não o considerou? E aquele que guarda a tua alma, não sabe disso? Não retribuirá cada homem de acordo com suas obras?
13 My son, eat of the honey, because [it is] good, and of the honeycomb, [which is] sweet to thy taste:
13 Meu filho, come mel, porque é bom; e o favo de mel é doce ao teu paladar;
14 So [shall] the knowledge of wisdom [be] unto thy soul: if thou shalt find [it], and in the end thy hope shall not be cut off.
14 assim será para a tua alma o conhecimento da sabedoria; quando o tiveres encontrado, então haverá uma recompensa e a tua expectativa não será cortada.
15 Do not lay [in] wait, O wicked [man], against the dwelling of the righteous; do not spoil his resting place.
15 Não fiques à espreita, ó homem perverso, contra a habitação do justo; não estragues o seu lugar de repouso;
16 For a just [man] falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked shall fall into evil.
16 porque um homem justo cai sete vezes, e se levanta novamente, mas os perversos cairão no mal.
17 Do not rejoice when thy enemy falls, and do not let thy heart be glad when he stumbles
17 Quando teu inimigo cair, não te regozijes, nem deixes que alegre-se o teu coração quando ele tropeçar;
18 lest the LORD see [it] and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
18 para que o SENHOR não o veja, e isso o desagrade, e desvie dele a sua ira.
19 Do not meddle with those who are evil, neither be envious of the wicked;
19 Não te desgastes por causa dos homens maus, nem tenhas inveja dos perversos,
20 for the evil [man] shall not come to a good end; the fire of the wicked shall be put out.
20 porque não haverá recompensa para o homem mau; e a lâmpada do perverso será apagada.
21 My son, fear the LORD and the king, [and] do not meddle with those that are given to change,
21 Meu filho, teme ao SENHOR e ao rei, e não te intrometas com aqueles que são dados à mudança;
22 for their calamity shall rise suddenly; and the ruin of them both, who shall know it?
22 porque de repente se levantará a sua calamidade, e a ruína de ambos, quem a conhece?
23 These [things] also [belong] to the wise. [It is] not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
23 Estas coisas também pertencem aos sábios. Não é bom ter respeito de pessoas em juízo.
24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou [art] righteous; him shall the peoples curse, nations shall abhor him:
24 Aquele que disser ao perverso: Tu és justo; a este os povos amaldiçoarão, as nações o abominarão,
25 But unto those that rebuke [him] shall be delight, and a blessing of good shall come upon them.
25 mas para aqueles que o repreenderem haverá deleite, e sobre eles virá uma boa bênção.
26 The lips of the one that gives a right answer shall be kissed.
26 Todo homem que dá uma resposta correta, deve beijar seus lábios.
27 Prepare thy work without and make it fit for thyself in thine inheritance, and afterwards thou shalt build thine house.
27 Prepara a tua obra fora, e torna-a apta para ti no campo, e depois edifica a tua casa.
28 Do not be a false witness against thy neighbour, and do not flatter with thy lips.
28 Não sejas sem motivo testemunha contra o teu vizinho; e não enganes com os teus lábios.
29 Do not say, I will do unto him as he has done unto me; I will render to the man according to his work.
29 Não digas: Farei a ele, como ele fez a mim; eu recompensarei a cada homem de acordo com a sua obra.
30 I went by the field of the slothful and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding,
30 Eu fui pelo campo do preguiçoso, e pela vinha do homem vazio de entendimento;
31 and, behold, it was all grown over with thorns, [and] nettles had covered its face, and its stone wall was broken down.
31 e eis que ela estava toda cheia de espinhos, e urtigas tinham coberto sua superfície, e o seu muro de pedras estava demolido.
32 Then I saw, [and] considered [it] well: I looked upon [it] [and] received chastening.
32 Então eu vi, e o considerei bem; olhei sobre ele, e recebi instrução.
33 [Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
33 Ainda, um pouco a dormir, um pouco a toscanejar, um pouco a cruzar os braços em repouso;
34 So shall thy poverty come [as] one that travels and thy want as an armed man.:
34 assim virá a tua pobreza como alguém que viaja, e a tua necessidade como um homem armado.
