¹ My breath is corrupt, my days are cut off, and the grave is ready for me.

¹ “Meu espírito está quebrado, e minha vida, quase apagada; o túmulo está pronto para me receber.

² [Now there are] only mockers with me, upon whose bitterness my eye continues [to gaze].

² Estou cercado de zombadores; seus insultos estão sempre diante de mim.

³ Put up now, give me surety with thee; who [is] he [that] will strike hands with me?

³ “Dá-me garantia de que me defenderás, ó Deus, pois ninguém mais tomará meu partido.

⁴ For with these, thou hast hid their heart from understanding; therefore, thou shalt not exalt [them].

⁴ Fechaste a mente deles para o entendimento, mas não permitas que triunfem.

⁵ He that speaks flattery to [his] neighbour, even the eyes of his sons shall fail.

⁵ Traem os amigos em benefício próprio; deixa que os filhos deles desfaleçam de fome.

⁶ He has made me a byword of the peoples; and before [them] I have been as a tambourine.

⁶ “Deus me transformou em motivo de zombaria; as pessoas cospem em meu rosto.

⁷ My eyes are dim by reason of sorrow, and all my thoughts [are] as a shadow.

⁷ Meus olhos estão inchados de tanto chorar; sou apenas sombra do que já fui.

⁸ Upright [men] shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.

⁸ Os virtuosos ficam horrorizados quando me veem, e os inocentes se levantam contra os ímpios.

⁹ The righteous shall hold on to his way, and he that has clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

⁹ Os justos prosseguem em seu caminho, e os de mãos limpas se fortalecem cada vez mais.

¹⁰ But return all of you, and come now; for I shall not find [one that is] wise among you.

¹⁰ “Quanto a vocês, voltem com um argumento melhor; ainda assim, não encontrarei sábio algum em seu meio.

¹¹ My days are past, my thoughts were broken off, [even] the purposes of my heart.

¹¹ Meus dias chegaram ao fim e minhas esperanças se foram; os desejos de meu coração não se realizaram.

¹² They changed the night into day; the light [is] short because of the darkness.

¹² Esses homens dizem que a noite é dia, afirmam que a escuridão é luz.

¹³ If I wait, Sheol [is] my house; I have made my bed in the darkness.

¹³ E se eu descer à sepultura e arrumar minha cama na escuridão?

¹⁴ I have said to the pit, Thou [art] my father; to the worms, my mother, and my sister.

¹⁴ E se eu chamar o túmulo de pai e o verme, de mãe ou irmã?

¹⁵ And where shall my hope be now? As for my hope, who shall see it?

¹⁵ Onde está, então, minha esperança? Há alguém que possa encontrá-la?

¹⁶ They shall go down to the bars of Sheol, and together they shall rest in the dust.:

¹⁶ Não, minha esperança descerá comigo à sepultura; descansaremos juntos no pó”.
