¹ My breath is corrupt, my days are cut off, and the grave is ready for me.

¹ O meu espírito está quebrantado, os meus dias se extinguem, a sepultura me está preparada!

² [Now there are] only mockers with me, upon whose bitterness my eye continues [to gaze].

² Deveras estou cercado de zombadores, e os meus olhos contemplam a sua provocação!

³ Put up now, give me surety with thee; who [is] he [that] will strike hands with me?

³ Dá-me, peço-te, um penhor, e sê o meu fiador para contigo; quem mais há que me dê a mão?

⁴ For with these, thou hast hid their heart from understanding; therefore, thou shalt not exalt [them].

⁴ Porque aos seus corações encobriste o entendimento, pelo que não os exaltarás.

⁵ He that speaks flattery to [his] neighbour, even the eyes of his sons shall fail.

⁵ Quem entrega os seus amigos como presa, os olhos de seus filhos desfalecerão.

⁶ He has made me a byword of the peoples; and before [them] I have been as a tambourine.

⁶ Mas a mim me pôs por motejo dos povos; tornei-me como aquele em cujo rosto se cospe.

⁷ My eyes are dim by reason of sorrow, and all my thoughts [are] as a shadow.

⁷ De mágoa se escureceram os meus olhos, e todos os meus membros são como a sombra.

⁸ Upright [men] shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.

⁸ Os retos pasmam disso, e o inocente se levanta contra o ímpio.

⁹ The righteous shall hold on to his way, and he that has clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

⁹ Contudo o justo prossegue no seu caminho e o que tem mãos puras vai crescendo em força.

¹⁰ But return all of you, and come now; for I shall not find [one that is] wise among you.

¹⁰ Mas tornai vós todos, e vinde, e sábio nenhum acharei entre vós.

¹¹ My days are past, my thoughts were broken off, [even] the purposes of my heart.

¹¹ Os meus dias passaram, malograram-se os meus propósitos, as aspirações do meu coração.

¹² They changed the night into day; the light [is] short because of the darkness.

¹² Trocam a noite em dia; dizem que a luz está perto das trevas.

¹³ If I wait, Sheol [is] my house; I have made my bed in the darkness.

¹³ Se eu olhar o Seol como a minha casa, se nas trevas estender a minha cama,

¹⁴ I have said to the pit, Thou [art] my father; to the worms, my mother, and my sister.

¹⁴ se eu clamar à cova: Tu és meu pai; e aos vermes: Vós sois minha mãe e minha irmã;

¹⁵ And where shall my hope be now? As for my hope, who shall see it?

¹⁵ onde está então a minha esperança? Sim, a minha esperança, quem a poderá ver?

¹⁶ They shall go down to the bars of Sheol, and together they shall rest in the dust.:

¹⁶ Acaso descerá comigo até os ferrolhos do Seol? Descansaremos juntos no pó?
