¹ My breath is corrupt, my days are cut off, and the grave is ready for me.

¹ O meu espírito se vai consumindo, os meus dias se vão apagando, e só tenho perante mim a sepultura.

² [Now there are] only mockers with me, upon whose bitterness my eye continues [to gaze].

² Porventura, não estão zombadores comigo? E os meus olhos não contemplam as suas amarguras?

³ Put up now, give me surety with thee; who [is] he [that] will strike hands with me?

³ Promete agora, e dá-me um fiador para contigo; quem há que me dê a mão?

⁴ For with these, thou hast hid their heart from understanding; therefore, thou shalt not exalt [them].

⁴ Porque ao seu coração encobriste o entendimento, pelo que não os exaltarás.

⁵ He that speaks flattery to [his] neighbour, even the eyes of his sons shall fail.

⁵ O que, lisonjeando, fala aos amigos, também os olhos de seus filhos desfalecerão.

⁶ He has made me a byword of the peoples; and before [them] I have been as a tambourine.

⁶ Mas a mim me pôs por um provérbio dos povos, de modo que me tornei uma abominação para eles.

⁷ My eyes are dim by reason of sorrow, and all my thoughts [are] as a shadow.

⁷ Pelo que já se escureceram de mágoa os meus olhos e já todos os meus membros são como a sombra;

⁸ Upright [men] shall be astonied at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.

⁸ os retos pasmarão disto, e o inocente se levantará contra o hipócrita.

⁹ The righteous shall hold on to his way, and he that has clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

⁹ E o justo seguirá o seu caminho firmemente, e o puro de mãos irá crescendo em força.

¹⁰ But return all of you, and come now; for I shall not find [one that is] wise among you.

¹⁰ Mas, na verdade, tornai todos vós e vinde cá; porque sábio nenhum acho entre vós.

¹¹ My days are past, my thoughts were broken off, [even] the purposes of my heart.

¹¹ Os meus dias passaram, e malograram-se os meus propósitos, as aspirações do meu coração.

¹² They changed the night into day; the light [is] short because of the darkness.

¹² Trocaram a noite em dia; a luz está perto do fim, por causa das trevas.

¹³ If I wait, Sheol [is] my house; I have made my bed in the darkness.

¹³ Se eu olhar a sepultura como a minha casa; se nas trevas estender a minha cama;

¹⁴ I have said to the pit, Thou [art] my father; to the worms, my mother, and my sister.

¹⁴ se à corrupção clamar: tu és meu pai; e aos bichos: vós sois minha mãe e minha irmã;

¹⁵ And where shall my hope be now? As for my hope, who shall see it?

¹⁵ onde estaria, então, agora, a minha esperança? Sim, a minha esperança, quem a poderá ver?

¹⁶ They shall go down to the bars of Sheol, and together they shall rest in the dust.:

¹⁶ Ela descerá até aos ferrolhos do Seol, quando juntamente no pó teremos descanso.
