1 Wisedome hath built her house, and hewen out her seuen pillars.
1 A Sabedoria construiu a sua casa sobre sete colunas.
2 She hath killed her vitailes, drawen her wine, and prepared her table.
2 Mandou matar animais para uma festa, preparou vinho e pôs a mesa.
3 She hath sent forth her maydens and cryeth vpon the highest places of the citie, saying,
3 Aí mandou as suas empregadas gritarem do lugar mais alto da cidade:
4 Who so is simple, let him come hither, and to him that is destitute of wisedome, she sayth,
4 “Entre, gente tola!” E disse às pessoas sem juízo:
5 Come, and eate of my meate, and drinke of the wine that I haue drawen.
5 “Venham, comam a minha comida e bebam o vinho que eu preparei.
6 Forsake your way, ye foolish, and ye shall liue: and walke in the way of vnderstanding.
6 Deixem a companhia dos tolos e vivam. Sigam o caminho do conhecimento.”
7 He that reproueth a scorner, purchaseth to himselfe shame: and he that rebuketh the wicked, getteth himselfe a blot.
7 Se você repreender uma pessoa vaidosa, a única coisa que vai conseguir é ser insultado. Se tentar corrigir um homem mau, o que vai conseguir é ser humilhado.
8 Rebuke not a scorner, least he hate thee: but rebuke a wise man, and he will loue thee.
8 Nunca repreenda uma pessoa vaidosa; ela o odiará por isso. Mas, se você corrigir uma pessoa sábia, ela o respeitará.
9 Giue admonition to the wise, and he will be the wiser: teache a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.
9 Qualquer coisa que você ensina a uma pessoa sábia torna-a mais sábia ainda. E tudo o que você diz a uma pessoa direita aumenta a sabedoria dela.
10 The beginning of wisedome is the feare of the Lord, and the knowledge of holy things, is vnderstanding.
10 Para ser sábio, é preciso primeiro temer a Deus , o Senhor . Se você conhece o Deus Santo, então você tem compreensão das coisas.
11 For thy dayes shalbe multiplied by me, and the yeeres of thy life shalbe augmented.
11 A sabedoria fará com que você viva uma vida mais longa.
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thy selfe, and if thou be a scorner, thou alone shalt suffer.
12 Se você for sábio, o lucro será seu; se zombar de tudo, você mesmo sofrerá as consequências.
13 A foolish woman is troublesome: she is ignorant, and knoweth nothing.
13 A falta de juízo é como uma mulher espalhafatosa, tola e sem-vergonha.
14 But she sitteth at the doore of her house on a seate in the hie places of the citie,
14 Ela senta-se à porta da sua casa ou num banco no lugar mais alto da cidade
15 To call them that passe by the way, that go right on their way, saying,
15 e grita aos que passam preocupados com os seus negócios:
16 Who so is simple, let him come hither, and to him that is destitute of wisedome, shee sayth also,
16 “Entre, gente tola!” E diz às pessoas que não têm juízo:
17 Stollen waters are sweete, and hid bread is pleasant.
17 “A água roubada é mais gostosa; o pão furtado é mais saboroso.”
18 But he knoweth not, that ye dead are there, and that her ghestes are in the depth of hell.
18 Mas os convidados dela não sabem que aqueles que vão à sua casa morrem e que os que entraram já estão nas profundezas do mundo dos mortos .
