1 Bvt Iob answered and sayd,
1 Então Jó respondeu e disse:
2 Though my talke be this day in bitternes, and my plague greater then my groning,
2 Ainda hoje a minha queixa é amarga; meu golpe é mais pesado do que o meu gemido.
3 Would God yet I knew how to finde him, I would enter vnto his place.
3 Ah, se eu soubesse onde eu poderia achá-lo! Se eu pudesse ir até o seu assento!
4 I would pleade the cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
4 Eu ordenaria minha causa diante dele, e encheria minha boca de argumentos.
5 I would knowe the wordes, that he would answere me, and would vnderstand what he would say vnto me.
5 Eu saberia as palavras com as quais ele me responderia, e entenderia o que ele me diria.
6 Would he plead against me with his great power? No, but he would put strength in me.
6 Pleiteará ele contra mim com seu grande poder? Não, mas ele colocaria forças em mim.
7 There the righteous might reason with him, so I shoulde be deliuered for euer from my Iudge.
7 Ali o justo poderia argumentar com ele, e então eu poderia ser liberto para sempre do meu juiz.
8 Behold, if I go to the East, he is not there: if to the West, yet I can not perceiue him:
8 Eis que vou adiante, mas ele não está lá; e para trás, mas não consigo percebê-lo.
9 If to the North where he worketh, yet I cannot see him: he wil hide himselfe in the South, and I cannot beholde him.
9 Na mão esquerda, onde ele trabalha, não consigo contemplá-lo; ele se esconde à mão direita para que eu não possa vê-lo.
10 But he knoweth my way, and trieth mee, and I shall come forth like the gold.
10 Mas ele conhece o caminho que eu tomo; quando ele tiver me provado, apresentar-me-ei como o ouro.
11 My foote hath followed his steps: his way haue I kept, and haue not declined.
11 Meus pés têm seguido seus passos; tenho guardado o seu caminho, e não o rejeitei.
12 Neyther haue I departed from the commandement of his lippes, and I haue esteemed the words of his mouth more then mine appointed foode.
12 Nem voltei atrás do mandamento de seus lábios; eu estimei as palavras de sua boca mais do que a minha comida necessária.
13 Yet he is in one minde, and who can turne him? yea, he doeth what his minde desireth.
13 Mas ele está resoluto, e quem pode demovê-lo? E o que sua alma deseja, isso ele faz.
14 For he will performe that, which is decreed of me, and many such things are with him.
14 Porque ele realiza aquilo que está designado para mim; e muitas tais coisas estão com ele.
15 Therefore I am troubled at his presence, and in considering it, I am afraid of him.
15 Portanto, estou perturbado com a sua presença; quando eu considero isso, fico com medo dele.
16 For God hath softened mine heart, and the Almightie hath troubled me.
16 Porque Deus faz o meu coração suave, e o Todo-Poderoso me atribula;
17 For I am not cut off in darknesse, but he hath hid the darkenesse from my face.
17 porque eu não fui cortado antes das trevas, nem ele cobriu as trevas da minha face.
