1 Bvt Iob answered, and sayd,
1 Então em resposta Jó disse:
2 Heare diligently my wordes, and this shalbe in stead of your consolations.
2 “O melhor consolo que vocês me podem dar é escutar com atenção as minhas palavras.
3 Suffer mee, that I may speake, and when I haue spoken, mocke on.
3 Tenham paciência enquanto falo; depois que eu terminar, vocês podem zombar de mim.
4 Doe I direct my talke to man? If it were so, how should not my spirit be troubled?
4 Não é de nenhum ser humano que me queixo e é por isso que estou tão impaciente.
5 Marke mee, and be abashed, and lay your hand vpon your mouth.
5 Se vocês olharem para mim, porão a mão na boca, assustados.
6 Euen when I remember, I am afrayde, and feare taketh hold on my flesh.
6 Quando penso no que aconteceu, fico perturbado, e o meu corpo todo treme.
7 Wherefore do the wicked liue, and waxe olde, and grow in wealth?
7 “Por que será que os maus continuam vivos? Por que chegam ricos à velhice?
8 Their seede is established in their sight with them, and their generation before their eyes.
8 Eles têm filhos e netos e vivem para vê-los bem-crescidos ao seu redor.
9 Their houses are peaceable without feare, and the rod of God is not vpon them.
9 Nada ameaça a segurança dos seus lares, e Deus não os castiga.
10 Their bullocke gendreth, and fayleth not: their cow calueth, and casteth not her calfe.
10 O seu gado se reproduz sem problemas, dando crias sem nunca abortar.
11 They send forth their children like sheepe, and their sonnes dance.
11 Os seus filhos correm como carneirinhos e pulam de alegria;
12 They take the tabret and harpe, and reioyce in the sound of the organs.
12 eles cantam e se divertem ao som de pandeiros, liras e flautas.
13 They spend their dayes in wealth, and suddenly they go downe to the graue.
13 Os maus têm sempre do bom e do melhor e morrem em paz, sem sofrimento.
14 They say also vnto God, Depart from vs: for we desire not the knowledge of thy wayes.
14 “No entanto, a Deus eles dizem: ‘Deixa-nos em paz; não queremos saber das tuas
15 Who is the Almightie, that we should serue him? and what profit should we haue, if we should pray vnto him?
15 Quem é o Deus Todo-Poderoso para que o adoremos? Que adianta fazer orações a ele?’
16 Lo, their wealth is not in their hand: therfore let the counsell of the wicked bee farre from me.
16 Os maus dizem que progridem pelos seus próprios esforços, mas eu não aceito o seu modo de pensar.
17 How oft shall the candle of the wicked be put out? and their destruction come vpon them? he wil deuide their liues in his wrath.
17 “Quando foi que se apagou a luz dos perversos? Quantas vezes algum deles caiu na desgraça? Será que Deus alguma vez ficou
18 They shall be as stubble before the winde, and as chaffe that the storme carieth away.
18 Quando foi que ele os espalhou como a palha ou como a poeira que é levada pela ventania?
19 God wil lay vp the sorowe of the father for his children: when he rewardeth him, hee shall knowe it.
19 “Vocês dizem que Deus castiga o filho pelos pecados do pai. Mas é o pai que deveria ser castigado para que aprendesse a lição.
20 His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drinke of the wrath of the Almightie.
20 Que o pecador receba o seu próprio castigo, que ele sinta o peso da ira do Todo-Poderoso!
21 For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the nomber of his moneths is cut off?
21 Mas, se ele já está morto, se já está no outro mundo, que lhe importa que a sua família sofra?
22 Shall any teache God knowledge, who iudgeth the highest things?
22 Por acaso, alguém pode dar lições ao Todo-Poderoso, que julga até os seres celestiais?
23 One dyeth in his full strength, being in all ease and prosperitie.
23 “Alguns homens levam uma vida feliz e tranquila e morrem ricos,
24 His breasts are full of milke, and his bones runne full of marowe.
24 com saúde e cheios de força.
25 And another dieth in the bitternes of his soule, and neuer eateth with pleasure.
25 Outros, ao contrário, nunca provaram um momento de felicidade e morrem com o coração cheio de amargura.
26 They shall sleepe both in the dust, and the wormes shall couer them.
26 Mas uns e outros acabam morrendo, são sepultados e ficam cobertos de vermes.
27 Behold, I know your thoughts, and the enterprises, wherewith ye do me wrong.
27 “Eu conheço os pensamentos de vocês e sei que pensam mal de mim.
28 For ye say, Where is the princes house? and where is the tabernacle of the wickeds dwelling?
28 Vocês perguntam: ‘Onde está agora a casa daquele grande homem que vivia uma vida de pecado?’
29 May ye not aske the that go by the way? and ye can not deny their signes.
29 “Será que vocês não têm conversado com pessoas que viajam? Vocês não têm ouvido as suas histórias?
30 But the wicked is kept vnto the day of destruction, and they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
30 Essas pessoas dizem que, quando Deus fica irado e castiga, o homem mau sempre escapa.
31 Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall reward him for that he hath done?
31 Ninguém o acusa das maldades que comete; ninguém o faz pagar pelos seus atos.
32 Yet shall he be brought to the graue, and remaine in the heape.
32 Ele é levado para o cemitério e posto numa sepultura bem-guardada.
33 The slimie valley shalbe sweete vnto him, and euery man shall draw after him, as before him there were innumerable.
33 Milhares de pessoas acompanham o corpo, e até a terra que o cobre é leve.
34 How then comfort ye me in vaine, seeing in your answeres there remaine but lyes?
34 “Meus amigos, as suas consolações são vazias; tudo o que vocês dizem é mentira.”
