1 Loe, mine eye hath seene all this: mine eare hath heard, and vnderstande it.
1 "Meus olhos viram tudo isso, meus ouvidos o ouviram e entenderam.
2 I knowe also as much as you knowe: I am not inferiour vnto you.
2 O que vocês sabem, eu também sei; não sou inferior a vocês.
3 But I will speake to the Almightie, and I desire to dispute with God.
3 Mas desejo falar ao Todo-poderoso e defender a minha causa diante de Deus.
4 For in deede ye forge lyes, and all you are physitions of no value.
4 Vocês, porém, me difamam com mentiras; todos vocês são médicos que de nada valem!
5 Oh, that you woulde holde your tongue, that it might be imputed to you for wisedome!
5 Se tão-somente ficassem calados! Mostrariam sabedoria.
6 Nowe heare my disputation, and giue eare to the arguments of my lips.
6 Escutem agora o meu argumento; prestem atenção à réplica de meus lábios.
7 Will ye speake wickedly for Gods defence, and talke deceitfully for his cause?
7 Vocês vão falar com maldade em nome de Deus? Vão falar enganosamente a favor dele?
8 Will ye accept his person? or will ye contende for God?
8 Vão revelar parcialidade por ele? Vão defender a causa a favor de Deus?
9 Is it well that he shoulde seeke of you? will you make a lye for him, as one lyeth for a man?
9 Tudo iria bem, se ele os examinasse? Vocês conseguiriam enganá-lo, como podem enganar os homens?
10 He will surely reprooue you, if ye doe secretly accept any person.
10 Com certeza ele os repreenderia, se no íntimo vocês fossem parciais.
11 Shall not his excellencie make you afraid? and his feare fall vpon you?
11 O esplendor dele não os aterrorizaria? O pavor dele não cairia sobre vocês?
12 Your memories may be compared vnto ashes, and your bodyes to bodyes of clay.
12 As máximas que vocês citam são provérbios de cinza; suas defesas não passam de barro.
13 Holde your tongues in my presence, that I may speake, and let come vpon what will.
13 "Aquietem-se e deixem-me falar; e aconteça-me o que me acontecer.
14 Wherefore doe I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my soule in mine hande?
14 Por que me ponho em perigo e tomo a minha vida em minhas mãos?
15 Loe, though he slay me, yet will I trust in him, and I will reprooue my wayes in his sight.
15 Embora ele me mate, ainda assim esperarei nele; certo é que defenderei os meus caminhos diante dele.
16 He shalbe my saluation also: for the hypocrite shall not come before him.
16 Aliás, isso será a minha libertação, pois nenhum ímpio ousaria apresentar-se a ele!
17 Heare diligently my wordes, and marke my talke.
17 Escutem atentamente as minhas palavras; que os seus ouvidos acolham o que eu digo.
18 Beholde nowe: if I prepare me to iudgement, I knowe that I shalbe iustified.
18 Agora que preparei a minha defesa, sei que serei justificado.
19 Who is he, that will pleade with me? for if I nowe holde my tongue, I dye.
19 Haverá quem me acuse? Se houver, ficarei calado e morrerei.
20 But doe not these two things vnto me: then will I not hide my selfe from thee.
20 "Concede-me só estas duas coisas, ó Deus, e não me esconderei de ti:
21 Withdrawe thine hande from me, and let not thy feare make me afraide.
21 Afasta de mim a tua mão, e não mais me assuste com os teus terrores.
22 Then call thou, and I will answere: or let me speake, and answere thou me.
22 Chama-me, e eu responderei, ou deixa-me falar, e tu responderás.
23 Howe many are mine iniquities and sinnes? shewe me my rebellion, and my sinne.
23 Quantos erros e pecados cometi? Mostra-me a minha falta e o meu pecado.
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and takest me for thine enemie?
24 Por que escondes o teu rosto e consideras-me teu inimigo?
25 Wilt thou breake a leafe driuen to and from? and wilt thou pursue the drie stubble?
25 Atormentarás uma folha levada pelo vento? Perseguirás a palha?
26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possesse the iniquities of my youth.
26 Pois fazes constar contra mim coisas amargas e fazes-me herdar os pecados da minha juventude.
27 Thou puttest my feete also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly vnto all my pathes, and makest the print thereof in ye heeles of my feet.
27 Acorrentas os meus pés e vigias todos os meus caminhos, pondo limites aos meus passos.
28 Such one consumeth like a rotten thing, and as a garment that is motheaten.
28 "Assim o homem se consome como coisa podre, como a roupa que a traça vai roendo.
