1 Loe, mine eye hath seene all this: mine eare hath heard, and vnderstande it.
1 Eis que tudo isso viram os meus olhos, e os meus ouvidos o ouviram e entenderam.
2 I knowe also as much as you knowe: I am not inferiour vnto you.
2 Como vós o sabeis, também eu o sei; não vos sou inferior.
3 But I will speake to the Almightie, and I desire to dispute with God.
3 Mas falarei ao Todo-Poderoso e quero defender-me perante Deus.
4 For in deede ye forge lyes, and all you are physitions of no value.
4 Vós, porém, besuntais a verdade com mentiras e vós todos sois médicos que não valem nada.
5 Oh, that you woulde holde your tongue, that it might be imputed to you for wisedome!
5 Tomara vos calásseis de todo, que isso seria a vossa sabedoria!
6 Nowe heare my disputation, and giue eare to the arguments of my lips.
6 Ouvi agora a minha defesa e atentai para os argumentos dos meus lábios.
7 Will ye speake wickedly for Gods defence, and talke deceitfully for his cause?
7 Porventura, falareis perversidade em favor de Deus e a seu favor falareis mentiras?
8 Will ye accept his person? or will ye contende for God?
8 Sereis parciais por ele? Contendereis a favor de Deus?
9 Is it well that he shoulde seeke of you? will you make a lye for him, as one lyeth for a man?
9 Ser-vos-ia bom, se ele vos esquadrinhasse? Ou zombareis dele, como se zomba de um homem qualquer?
10 He will surely reprooue you, if ye doe secretly accept any person.
10 Acerbamente vos repreenderá, se em oculto fordes parciais.
11 Shall not his excellencie make you afraid? and his feare fall vpon you?
11 Porventura, não vos amedrontará a sua dignidade, e não cairá sobre vós o seu terror?
12 Your memories may be compared vnto ashes, and your bodyes to bodyes of clay.
12 As vossas máximas são como provérbios de cinza, os vossos baluartes, baluartes de barro.
13 Holde your tongues in my presence, that I may speake, and let come vpon what will.
13 Calai-vos perante mim, e falarei eu, e venha sobre mim o que vier.
14 Wherefore doe I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my soule in mine hande?
14 Tomarei a minha carne nos meus dentes e porei a vida na minha mão.
15 Loe, though he slay me, yet will I trust in him, and I will reprooue my wayes in his sight.
15 Eis que me matará, já não tenho esperança; contudo, defenderei o meu procedimento.
16 He shalbe my saluation also: for the hypocrite shall not come before him.
16 Também isto será a minha salvação, o fato de o ímpio não vir perante ele.
17 Heare diligently my wordes, and marke my talke.
17 Atentai para as minhas razões e dai ouvidos à minha exposição.
18 Beholde nowe: if I prepare me to iudgement, I knowe that I shalbe iustified.
18 Tenho já bem-encaminhada minha causa e estou certo de que serei justificado.
19 Who is he, that will pleade with me? for if I nowe holde my tongue, I dye.
19 Quem há que possa contender comigo? Neste caso, eu me calaria e renderia o espírito.
20 But doe not these two things vnto me: then will I not hide my selfe from thee.
20 Concede-me somente duas coisas; então, me não esconderei do teu rosto:
21 Withdrawe thine hande from me, and let not thy feare make me afraide.
21 alivia a tua mão de sobre mim, e não me espante o teu terror.
22 Then call thou, and I will answere: or let me speake, and answere thou me.
22 Interpela-me, e te responderei ou deixa-me falar e tu me responderás.
23 Howe many are mine iniquities and sinnes? shewe me my rebellion, and my sinne.
23 Quantas culpas e pecados tenho eu? Notifica-me a minha transgressão e o meu pecado.
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and takest me for thine enemie?
24 Por que escondes o rosto e me tens por teu inimigo?
25 Wilt thou breake a leafe driuen to and from? and wilt thou pursue the drie stubble?
25 Queres aterrorizar uma folha arrebatada pelo vento? E perseguirás a palha seca?
26 For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possesse the iniquities of my youth.
26 Pois decretas contra mim coisas amargas e me atribuis as culpas da minha mocidade.
27 Thou puttest my feete also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly vnto all my pathes, and makest the print thereof in ye heeles of my feet.
27 Também pões os meus pés no tronco, observas todos os meus caminhos e traças limites à planta dos meus pés,
28 Such one consumeth like a rotten thing, and as a garment that is motheaten.
28 apesar de eu ser como uma coisa podre que se consome e como a roupa que é comida da traça.
