1 A soft answer turneth back fury, And a grievous word raiseth up anger.
1 A resposta delicada acalma o furor, mas a palavra dura aumenta a raiva.
2 The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge good, And the mouth of fools uttereth folly.
2 As palavras do sábio tornam o conhecimento atraente, mas o tolo só diz bobagens.
3 In every place are the eyes of Jehovah, Watching the evil and the good.
3 O Senhor Deus vê o que acontece em toda parte; ele está observando todos, tanto os bons como os maus.
4 A healed tongue [is] a tree of life, And perverseness in it -- a breach in the spirit.
4 As palavras bondosas nos dão vida nova, porém as palavras cruéis desanimam a gente.
5 A fool despiseth the instruction of his father, And whoso is regarding reproof is prudent.
5 Quem despreza o que o pai ensina é tolo, mas quem aceita a sua correção é sábio.
6 [In] the house of the righteous [is] abundant strength, And in the increase of the wicked -- trouble.
6 Na casa do homem direito há muita prosperidade, mas o lucro dos maus traz dificuldades.
7 The lips of the wise scatter knowledge, And the heart of fools [is] not right.
7 Quando os sábios falam, eles espalham conhecimento, mas isso não acontece com os tolos.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to Jehovah, And the prayer of the upright [is] His delight.
8 O Senhor detesta os sacrifícios que os maus lhe oferecem, porém se alegra com a oração dos bons.
9 An abomination to Jehovah [is] the way of the wicked, And whoso is pursuing righteousness He loveth.
9 O Senhor detesta a maneira de viver dos maus, porém ama a quem faz o que é direito.
10 Chastisement [is] grievous to him who is forsaking the path, Whoso is hating reproof dieth.
10 Quem abandona o caminho do bem será severamente castigado, e quem odeia ser corrigido morrerá.
11 Sheol and destruction [are] before Jehovah, Surely also the hearts of the sons of men.
11 Se o Senhor sabe o que acontece até mesmo no mundo dos mortos , como poderá alguém esconder dele os seus pensamentos?
12 A scorner loveth not his reprover, Unto the wise he goeth not.
12 O homem vaidoso não gosta de quem o corrige; ele nunca pede conselhos aos sábios.
13 A joyful heart maketh glad the face, And by grief of heart is the spirit smitten.
13 A alegria embeleza o rosto, mas a tristeza deixa a pessoa abatida.
14 The heart of the intelligent seeketh knowledge, And the mouth of fools enjoyeth folly.
14 Quem é sábio procura aprender, mas os tolos estão satisfeitos com a sua própria ignorância.
15 All the days of the afflicted [are] evil, And gladness of heart [is] a perpetual banquet.
15 Todos os dias são difíceis para os que estão aflitos, mas a vida é sempre agradável para as pessoas que têm coração alegre.
16 Better [is] a little with the fear of Jehovah, Than much treasure, and tumult with it.
16 É melhor ser pobre e temer a Deus , o Senhor , do que ser rico e infeliz.
17 Better [is] an allowance of green herbs and love there, Than a fatted ox, and hatred with it.
17 É melhor comer verduras na companhia de quem a gente ama do que comer a melhor carne onde existe ódio.
18 A man of fury stirreth up contention, And the slow to anger appeaseth strife.
18 A pessoa de mau gênio sempre causa problemas, mas a que tem paciência traz a paz.
19 The way of the slothful [is] as a hedge of briers, And the path of the upright is raised up.
19 O preguiçoso encontra dificuldades por toda parte, mas para a pessoa correta a vida não é tão difícil.
20 A wise son rejoiceth a father. And a foolish man is despising his mother.
20 O filho sábio dá alegria ao seu pai, mas o filho sem juízo despreza a sua mãe.
21 Folly is joy to one lacking heart, And a man of intelligence directeth [his] going.
21 O tolo se diverte com as suas tolices, mas o sábio faz o que é certo.
22 Without counsel [is] the making void of purposes, And in a multitude of counsellors it is established.
22 Sem conselhos os planos fracassam, mas com muitos conselheiros há sucesso.
23 Joy [is] to a man in the answer of his mouth, And a word in its season -- how good!
23 Saber dar uma resposta é uma alegria; como é boa a palavra certa na hora certa!
24 A path of life [is] on high for the wise, To turn aside from Sheol beneath.
24 A pessoa sábia não desce pelo caminho da morte, mas sobe pela estrada da vida.
25 The house of the proud Jehovah pulleth down, And He setteth up the border of the widow.
25 O Senhor Deus derruba a casa dos orgulhosos, mas protege a propriedade da viúva.
26 An abomination to Jehovah [are] thoughts of wickedness, And pure [are] sayings of pleasantness.
26 O Senhor detesta os pensamentos dos maus, mas gosta de palavras bondosas.
27 A dishonest gainer is troubling his house, And whoso is hating gifts liveth.
27 Quem procura ficar rico por meios desonestos põe a sua família em dificuldades; quem odeia o suborno viverá mais.
28 The heart of the righteous meditateth to answer, And the mouth of the wicked uttereth evil things.
28 As pessoas corretas pensam antes de responder; as pessoas más respondem logo, porém as suas palavras causam problemas.
29 Far [is] Jehovah from the wicked, And the prayer of the righteous He heareth.
29 O Senhor está longe dos maus, porém ouve a oração de quem é correto.
30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart, A good report maketh fat the bone.
30 Um olhar amigo alegra o coração; uma boa notícia faz a gente sentir-se bem.
31 An ear that is hearing the reproof of life Doth lodge among the wise.
31 Aquele que aceita a repreensão justa andará na companhia dos sábios.
32 Whoso is refusing instruction is despising his soul, And whoso is hearing reproof Is getting understanding.
32 Quem rejeita conselhos prejudica a si mesmo, mas quem aceita a correção fica mais sábio.
33 The fear of Jehovah [is] the instruction of wisdom, And before honour [is] humility!
33 Quem teme o Senhor está aprendendo a ser sábio; quem é humilde é respeitado.
