1 A soft answer turneth back fury, And a grievous word raiseth up anger.
1 A resposta suave afasta a ira, mas palavras graves atiçam a raiva.
2 The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge good, And the mouth of fools uttereth folly.
2 A língua dos sábios usa o conhecimento corretamente, mas a boca dos tolos derrama a tolice.
3 In every place are the eyes of Jehovah, Watching the evil and the good.
3 Os olhos do SENHOR estão em todo lugar, contemplando os maus e os bons.
4 A healed tongue [is] a tree of life, And perverseness in it -- a breach in the spirit.
4 A língua saudável é árvore de vida, mas a perversidade nela é uma brecha no espírito.
5 A fool despiseth the instruction of his father, And whoso is regarding reproof is prudent.
5 Um tolo despreza a instrução de seu pai, mas o que considera a repreensão é prudente.
6 [In] the house of the righteous [is] abundant strength, And in the increase of the wicked -- trouble.
6 Na casa do justo há muito tesouro, mas nos rendimentos dos perversos há problema.
7 The lips of the wise scatter knowledge, And the heart of fools [is] not right.
7 Os lábios dos sábios espalham o conhecimento, mas o coração dos tolos não o faz.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to Jehovah, And the prayer of the upright [is] His delight.
8 O sacrifício dos perversos é abominação ao SENHOR, mas a oração dos retos é o seu deleite.
9 An abomination to Jehovah [is] the way of the wicked, And whoso is pursuing righteousness He loveth.
9 O caminho dos perversos é abominação ao SENHOR, mas ele ama aquele que segue a justiça.
10 Chastisement [is] grievous to him who is forsaking the path, Whoso is hating reproof dieth.
10 Correção severa há para aquele que abandona o caminho, e o que odeia a repreensão morrerá.
11 Sheol and destruction [are] before Jehovah, Surely also the hearts of the sons of men.
11 O inferno e a destruição estão perante o SENHOR; quanto mais os corações dos filhos dos homens?
12 A scorner loveth not his reprover, Unto the wise he goeth not.
12 Um escarnecedor não ama alguém que o repreenda; nem se chegará para os sábios.
13 A joyful heart maketh glad the face, And by grief of heart is the spirit smitten.
13 O coração alegre torna contente a face, mas pelo pesar do coração o espírito se parte.
14 The heart of the intelligent seeketh knowledge, And the mouth of fools enjoyeth folly.
14 O coração daquele que tem entendimento busca o conhecimento, mas a boca dos tolos se alimenta da tolice.
15 All the days of the afflicted [are] evil, And gladness of heart [is] a perpetual banquet.
15 Todos os dias do aflito são maus, mas aquele que é de coração alegre tem festa contínua.
16 Better [is] a little with the fear of Jehovah, Than much treasure, and tumult with it.
16 Melhor é o pouco com o temor do SENHOR, do que um grande tesouro, e com ele problemas.
17 Better [is] an allowance of green herbs and love there, Than a fatted ox, and hatred with it.
17 Melhor é um banquete de ervas, onde há amor, do que o boi cevado, e com ele o ódio.
18 A man of fury stirreth up contention, And the slow to anger appeaseth strife.
18 Um homem irado atiça contendas, mas aquele que é tardio em irar-se apaziguará a luta.
19 The way of the slothful [is] as a hedge of briers, And the path of the upright is raised up.
19 O caminho do homem preguiçoso é como uma cerca viva de espinhos, mas o caminho dos justos se faz plano.
20 A wise son rejoiceth a father. And a foolish man is despising his mother.
20 Um filho sábio alegra seu pai, mas um homem tolo despreza a sua mãe.
21 Folly is joy to one lacking heart, And a man of intelligence directeth [his] going.
21 A loucura é alegria para aquele que é destituído de sabedoria, mas um homem de entendimento caminha retamente.
22 Without counsel [is] the making void of purposes, And in a multitude of counsellors it is established.
22 Quando não há conselhos os planos se dispersam, mas na multidão de conselheiros eles são estabelecidos.
23 Joy [is] to a man in the answer of his mouth, And a word in its season -- how good!
23 Um homem alegra-se pela resposta de sua boca; e quão boa é a palavra dita a seu tempo!
24 A path of life [is] on high for the wise, To turn aside from Sheol beneath.
24 Para o sábio, o caminho da vida é para cima, para que ele possa se desviar do inferno que está embaixo.
25 The house of the proud Jehovah pulleth down, And He setteth up the border of the widow.
25 O SENHOR destruirá a casa dos orgulhosos, mas ele estabelecerá a fronteira da viúva.
26 An abomination to Jehovah [are] thoughts of wickedness, And pure [are] sayings of pleasantness.
26 Os pensamentos dos perversos são abominação para o SENHOR, mas as palavras dos puros são palavras agradáveis.
27 A dishonest gainer is troubling his house, And whoso is hating gifts liveth.
27 Aquele que é ganancioso com o ganho perturba a sua própria casa, mas aquele que odeia presentes viverá.
28 The heart of the righteous meditateth to answer, And the mouth of the wicked uttereth evil things.
28 O coração do justo medita para responder, mas a boca dos perversos derrama coisas más.
29 Far [is] Jehovah from the wicked, And the prayer of the righteous He heareth.
29 O SENHOR está longe dos perversos, mas ele ouve a oração dos justos.
30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart, A good report maketh fat the bone.
30 A luz dos olhos regozija o coração, e a boa notícia fortalece os ossos.
31 An ear that is hearing the reproof of life Doth lodge among the wise.
31 O ouvido que ouve a repreensão da vida habita entre os sábios.
32 Whoso is refusing instruction is despising his soul, And whoso is hearing reproof Is getting understanding.
32 Aquele que recusa a instrução despreza a sua própria alma, mas o que ouve a repreensão adquire entendimento.
33 The fear of Jehovah [is] the instruction of wisdom, And before honour [is] humility!
33 O temor do SENHOR é a instrução da sabedoria, e antes da honra está a humildade.
