1 And Elihu answereth and saith:
1 Então Eliú disse:
2 Hear, O wise men, my words, And, O knowing ones, give ear to me.
2 “Ouçam-me, vocês que são sábios; prestem atenção, vocês que têm conhecimento.
3 For the ear doth try words, And the palate tasteth to eat.
3 Jó disse: ‘O ouvido prova as palavras que ouve, assim como a língua distingue os sabores’.
4 Judgment let us choose for ourselves, Let us know among ourselves what [is] good.
4 Portanto, vamos discernir para nós mesmos o que é certo; vamos descobrir juntos o que é bom.
5 For Job hath said, `I have been righteous, And God hath turned aside my right,
5 Pois Jó também disse: ‘Sou inocente, mas Deus tirou de mim meus direitos.
6 Against my right do I lie? Mortal [is] mine arrow -- without transgression.`
6 Sou inocente, mas eles me chamam de mentiroso; minha dor é incurável, embora eu não tenha pecado’.
7 Who [is] a man like Job? He drinketh scoffing like water,
7 “Digam-me, alguma vez houve um homem como Jó, com sua sede por palavras irreverentes?
8 And he hath travelled for company With workers of iniquity, So as to go with men of wickedness.
8 Escolhe como companheiros os que praticam o mal e anda com homens perversos.
9 For he hath said, `It doth not profit a man, When he delighteth himself with God.`
9 Chegou até a dizer: ‘Por que desperdiçar meu tempo tentando agradar a Deus?’.
10 Therefore, O men of heart, hearken to me; Far be it from God to do wickedness, And [from] the Mighty to do perverseness:
10 “Ouçam-me, vocês que têm entendimento: Deus não peca de forma alguma! O Todo-poderoso não pratica o mal!
11 For the work of man he repayeth to him, And according to the path of each He doth cause him to find.
11 Ele retribui a cada um de acordo com seus atos; trata as pessoas como merecem.
12 Yea, truly, God doth not do wickedly, And the Mighty doth not pervert judgment.
12 Na verdade, Deus não fará o mal; o Todo-poderoso não cometerá injustiça.
13 Who hath inspected for Himself the earth? And who hath placed all the habitable world?
13 Quem entregou a terra aos cuidados de Deus? Quem o fez responsável por todo o mundo?
14 If He doth set on him His heart, His spirit and his breath unto Him He gathereth.
14 Se Deus retirasse seu espírito e removesse seu sopro,
15 Expire doth all flesh together, And man to dust returneth.
15 toda a vida cessaria, e a humanidade voltaria ao pó.
16 And if [there is] understanding, hear this, Give ear to the voice of my words.
16 “Portanto, se você é sábio, ouça-me; preste atenção ao que digo.
17 Yea, doth one hating justice govern? Or the Most Just dost thou condemn?
17 Acaso Deus poderia governar se odiasse a justiça? Você pretende condenar o Juiz todo-poderoso?
18 Who hath said to a king -- `Worthless,` Unto princes -- `Wicked?`
18 Ele diz aos reis: ‘Vocês são perversos’, e aos nobres: ‘Vocês são injustos’.
19 That hath not accepted the person of princes, Nor hath known the rich before the poor, For a work of His hands [are] all of them.
19 Para Deus, não importa a posição da pessoa; ele não dá mais atenção aos ricos que aos pobres, pois todos foram criados por ele.
20 [In] a moment they die, and at midnight Shake do people, and they pass away, And they remove the mighty without hand.
20 Morrem de repente, falecem no meio da noite; os poderosos são removidos sem a ajuda de mãos humanas.
21 For His eyes [are] on the ways of each, And all his steps He doth see.
21 “Pois Deus observa como as pessoas vivem; ele vê tudo que fazem.
22 There is no darkness nor death-shade, For workers of iniquity to be hidden there;
22 Não há escuridão densa o bastante onde os perversos possam se esconder de seus olhos.
23 For He doth not suffer man any more, To go unto God in judgment,
23 Não são as pessoas que decidem o momento em que comparecerão diante de Deus para ser julgadas.
24 He breaketh the mighty -- no searching! And He appointeth others in their stead.
24 Ele destrói os poderosos sem consultar ninguém e põe outros em seu lugar.
25 Therefore He knoweth their works, And He hath overturned by night, And they are bruised.
25 Ele sabe o que fazem e à noite os derruba e os destrói.
26 As wicked He hath stricken them, In the place of beholders.
26 Ele os fere porque são perversos e os castiga em público, para que todos vejam.
27 Because that against right They have turned aside from after Him, And none of His ways have considered wisely,
27 Pois deixaram de segui-lo e não têm respeito algum por seus caminhos.
28 To cause to come in unto Him The cry of the poor, And the cry of the afflicted He heareth.
28 Fazem os pobres clamar e chamar a atenção de Deus, e ele ouve os gritos dos aflitos.
29 And He giveth rest, and who maketh wrong? And hideth the face, and who beholdeth it? And in reference to a nation and to a man, [It is] the same.
29 Mas, se ele permanecer calado, quem o criticará? Quando ele esconde seu rosto, ninguém pode encontrá-lo, nem indivíduo nem nação.
30 From the reigning of a profane man, From the snares of a people;
30 Ele impede que os ímpios governem, para que não sejam uma cilada para o povo.
31 For unto God hath any said: `I have taken away, I do not corruptly,
31 “Por que ninguém diz a Deus: ‘Pequei, mas não voltarei a pecar’?
32 Besides [that which] I see, shew Thou me, If iniquity I have done -- I do not add?`
32 Ou: ‘Não sei qual foi meu erro; mostra-me se fiz o mal, e deixarei de fazê-lo de imediato’?
33 By thee doth He recompense, That thou hast refused -- That thou dost choose, and not I? And what thou hast known, speak.
33 “Acaso Deus deve adaptar a justiça dele a suas exigências? Você o rejeitou! A escolha é sua, não minha; compartilhe sua sabedoria conosco.
34 Let men of heart say to me, And a wise man is hearkening to me.
34 Afinal, pessoas inteligentes me dirão, e os sábios que me ouvem falarão:
35 Job -- not with knowledge doth he speak, And his words [are] not with wisdom.
35 ‘Jó fala por ignorância; suas palavras não fazem sentido’.
36 My Father! let Job be tried -- unto victory, Because of answers for men of iniquity,
36 Jó, você merece o castigo mais severo pelo modo perverso como falou.
37 For he doth add to his sin, Transgression among us he vomiteth, And multiplieth his sayings to God.
37 Pois, ao seu pecado, acrescentou a rebeldia; não mostra respeito e não para de falar contra Deus”.
