1 Leaving the Temple Courts, Jesus was walking away, when his disciples came up to draw his attention to the Temple buildings.
1 Jesus saiu do pátio do Templo, e, quando já estava indo embora, os seus discípulos chegaram perto dele e chamaram a sua atenção para os edifícios do Templo.
2 “Do you see all these things?” was his answer. “I tell you, not a single stone will be left here on another, which will not be thrown down,”
2 Então ele disse:
3 so, while Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came up to him privately and said: “Tell us when this will be, and what will be the sign of your coming, and of the close of the age.”
3 Jesus estava sentado no monte das Oliveiras. Então os discípulos chegaram perto dele e lhe perguntaram em particular: — Conte para nós quando é que isso vai acontecer. Que sinal haverá para mostrar que chegou o tempo de o senhor voltar e de tudo acabar?
4 Jesus replied to them: “See that no one leads you astray;
4 Jesus respondeu:
5 for, many will take my name, and come saying ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray.
5 Porque muitos vão aparecer fingindo ser eu e dizendo: “Eu sou o
6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars; take care not to be alarmed, for such things must occur; but the end is not yet here.
6 Não tenham medo quando ouvirem o barulho de batalhas ou notícias de guerras. Tudo isso vai acontecer, mas ainda não será o fim.
7 For ‘nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom,’ and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
7 Uma nação vai guerrear contra outra, e um país atacará outro. Em vários lugares haverá falta de alimentos e tremores de terra.
8 All this, however, will be but the beginning of the birth pangs!
8 Essas coisas serão como as primeiras dores de parto.
9 When that time comes, they will give you up to persecution, and will put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.
9 — Depois vocês serão presos e entregues para serem maltratados e vocês serão mortos. Todos os odiarão por serem meus seguidores.
10 And then many will fall away, and will betray one another, and hate one another.
10 Nessa época muitos vão abandonar a sua fé e vão trair e odiar uns aos outros.
11 Many false prophets, also, will appear and lead many astray;
11 Então muitos falsos
12 and, owing to the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.
12 A maldade vai se espalhar tanto, que o amor de muitos esfriará;
13 Yet the person who endures to the end will be saved.
13 mas quem ficar firme até o fim será salvo.
14 This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world as a witness to all nations; and then will come the end.

15 As soon, then, as you see ‘the Foul Desecration,’ mentioned by the prophet Daniel, standing in the Holy place,” (the reader must consider what this means)
15 E Jesus continuou:
16 “then those of you who are in Judea must take refuge in the mountains;
16 Então, os que estiverem na região da Judeia, que fujam para os montes.
17 and a man on the housetop must not go down to get the things that are in his house;
17 Quem estiver em cima da sua casa, no terraço, que fuja logo e não entre para pegar as suas coisas.
18 nor must one who is on their farm turn back to get his cloak.
18 E quem estiver no campo, que não volte para casa a fim de buscar as suas roupas.
19 Alas for pregnant women, and for those who are nursing infants in those days!
19 Ai das mulheres grávidas e das mães com criancinhas naqueles dias!
20 Pray, too, that your flight may not take place in winter, nor on a Sabbath;
20 Orem a Deus para que vocês não tenham de fugir no inverno ou no sábado .
21 for that will be ‘a time of great distress, the like of which has not occurred from the beginning of the world down to the present time’ — no, nor ever will again.
21 Porque naqueles dias haverá um sofrimento tão grande como nunca houve desde que Deus criou o mundo; e nunca mais acontecerá uma coisa igual.
22 Had not those days been limited, not a single soul would escape; but for the sake of ‘God’s people’ a limit will be put to them.
22 Porém Deus diminuiu esse tempo de sofrimento. Se não fosse assim, ninguém seria salvo. Mas, por causa do povo que Deus escolheu para salvar, esse tempo será diminuído.
23 At that time, if anyone should say to you ‘Look! Here is the Christ!’ or ‘Here he is!’, do not believe it;
23 — Portanto, se alguém disser para vocês: “Vejam! O
24 for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will display great signs and marvels, so that, were it possible, even God’s people would be led astray.
24 Porque aparecerão falsos profetas e falsos messias, que farão milagres e maravilhas para enganar, se possível, até o povo escolhido de Deus.
25 Remember, I have told you beforehand.
25 Prestem atenção! Eu estou lhes dizendo tudo isso, antes que aconteça.
26 Therefore, if people say to you ‘He is in the wilderness!’, do not go out there; or ‘He is in an inner room!’, do not believe it;
26 — E, se disserem: “Vejam! Ele está no deserto”, não vão lá. Ou ainda: “Vejam! Ele está escondido aqui”, não acreditem.
27 for, just as lightning will start from the east and flash across to the west, so will it be with the coming of the Son of Man.
27 Porque, assim como o relâmpago risca o céu, do nascente até o poente, assim será a vinda do
28 Wherever a dead body lies, there will the vultures flock.’
28 — Onde estiver o corpo de um morto, aí se ajuntarão os urubus.
29 Immediately after the distress of those days, ‘the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light, the stars will fall from the heavens,’ and ‘the forces of the heavens will be convulsed.’
29 Jesus disse:
30 Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in the heavens; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn, when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the heavens,’ with power and great glory;
30 Então o sinal do
31 and he will send his angels, with a great trumpet, and they will gather his people around him from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
31 A grande trombeta tocará, e ele mandará os seus anjos para os quatro cantos da terra. E os anjos reunirão os escolhidos de Deus de um lado do mundo até o outro.
32 Learn the lesson taught by the fig tree. As soon as its branches are full of sap, and it is bursting into leaf, you know that summer is near.
32 Jesus disse ainda:
33 And so may you, as soon as you see all these things, know that he is at your doors.
33 Assim também, quando virem acontecer essas coisas, fiquem sabendo que o tempo está perto, pronto para começar.
34 I tell you, even the present generation will not pass away, until all these things have taken place.
34 Eu afirmo a vocês que isto é verdade: essas coisas vão acontecer antes de morrerem todos os que agora estão vivos.
35 The heavens and the earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
35 O céu e a terra desaparecerão, mas as minhas palavras ficarão para sempre.
36 But about that day and hour, no one knows — not even the angels of heaven, not even the Son — but only the Father himself.
36 Jesus continuou, dizendo:
37 For, just as in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man.
37 A vinda do
38 In those days before the flood they went on eating and drinking, marrying and being married, up to the very day on which Noah entered the ark,
38 Pois, antes do dilúvio, o povo comia e bebia, e os homens e as mulheres casavam, até o dia em que Noé entrou na barca.
39 taking not notice until the flood came and swept them one and all away; and so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man.
39 Porém não sabiam o que estava acontecendo, até que veio o dilúvio e levou todos. Assim também será a vinda do Filho do Homem.
40 At that time, of two men on a farm one will be taken and one left;
40 — Naquele dia dois homens estarão trabalhando na fazenda: um será levado, e o outro, deixado.
41 of two women grinding with the hand-mill one will be taken and one left.
41 Duas mulheres estarão no moinho moendo trigo: uma será levada, e a outra, deixada.
42 Therefore watch; for you cannot be sure on what day your Master is coming.
42 Fiquem vigiando, pois vocês não sabem em que dia vai chegar o seu Senhor.
43 But this you do know, that, had the owner of the house known at what time of night the thief was coming, they would have been on the watch, and would not have allowed their house to be broken into.
43 Lembrem disto: se o dono da casa soubesse quando ia chegar o ladrão, ficaria vigiando e não deixaria que a sua casa fosse arrombada.
44 Therefore, you must also prepare, since it is just when you are least expecting him that the Son of Man will come.
44 Por isso vocês também fiquem vigiando, pois o Filho do Homem chegará na hora em que vocês não estiverem esperando.
45 Who, then is that trustworthy, careful servant, who has been placed by their master over his household, to give them their food at the proper time?
45 Jesus disse ainda:
46 Happy will that servant be whom their master, when he comes home, will find doing this.
46 Feliz aquele empregado que estiver fazendo isso quando o patrão chegar!
47 I tell you that their master will put them in charge of the whole of his property.
47 Eu afirmo a vocês que isto é verdade: o patrão vai colocá-lo como encarregado de toda a sua propriedade.
48 But, should the servant be a bad servant, and say to themselves ‘My master is a long time in coming,’
48 Mas, se o empregado for mau, pensará assim: “O meu patrão está demorando muito para voltar.”
49 and begin to beat their fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards,
49 Então começará a bater nos seus companheiros, e a comer, e a beber com os bêbados.
50 that servant’s master will come on a day when they do not expect him, and at an hour of which they are unaware,
50 E o patrão voltará no dia em que o empregado menos espera e na hora que ele não sabe.
51 and will flog the servant severely, and assign them their place among the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
51 Aí o patrão mandará cortar o empregado em pedaços e o condenará a ir para o lugar aonde os hipócritas vão. Ali ele vai chorar e ranger os dentes de desespero.
