Provérbios 31

1 The words of king Lemuel, the burden that his mother taught him:
1 Os ditados do rei Lemuel contêm esta mensagem, que sua mãe lhe ensinou:
2 What, my son? And what, the son of my womb? And what, the son of my vows?
2 Meu filho, filho de meu ventre, filho de meus votos,
3 Do not give your strength to women, or your ways to that which wipes out kings.
3 não desperdice sua força com mulheres, nem sua vida com aquelas que destroem reis.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes to lust for fermented drink,
4 Não convém aos reis, ó Lemuel, tomar muito vinho; os governantes não devem desejar bebida alcoólica.
5 that they not drink and forget what is decreed, and pervert the right of the afflicted ones.
5 Se beberem, pode ser que se esqueçam da lei e deixem de fazer justiça aos oprimidos.
6 Give fermented drink to one perishing, and wine to the bitter of soul,
6 O álcool é para os que estão morrendo, e o vinho, para os que estão amargurados.
7 let him drink and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
7 Que bebam para se esquecer de sua pobreza e não se lembrar de suas dificuldades.
8 Open your mouth for the dumb, in the cause of all the sons of those passing away.
8 Fale em favor daqueles que não podem se defender; garanta justiça para os que estão aflitos.
9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the poor and needy.
9 Sim, fale em favor dos pobres e desamparados, e providencie que recebam justiça.
10 Who can find an able woman? For her value is far above jewels.
10 Quem encontrará uma mulher virtuosa? Ela é mais preciosa que rubis.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, so that he has no lack of gain.
11 O marido tem plena confiança nela, e ela lhe enriquecerá a vida grandemente.
12 She deals good with him, and not evil, all the days of her life.
12 Ela lhe faz bem, e não mal, todos os dias de sua vida.
13 She seeks wool and flax, and she works with her palms with delight.
13 Ela adquire lã e linho e, com alegria, trabalha os fios com as mãos.
14 She is like the merchant ships, she brings in her food from afar.
14 Como navio mercante, traz alimentos de longe.
15 She also rises while it is still night, and gives game to her household, and an order to her maidens.
15 Levanta-se de madrugada para preparar a refeição da família e planeja as tarefas do dia para suas servas.
16 She has examined a field, and takes it, she plants a vineyard from the fruit of her hands.
16 Vai examinar um campo e o compra; com o que ganha, planta um vinhedo.
17 She has girded her loins with strength, and has made her arms strong.
17 É cheia de energia, forte e trabalhadora.
18 She tastes whether her gain is good; her lamp does not go out by night.
18 Certifica-se de que seus negócios sejam lucrativos; sua lâmpada permanece acesa à noite.
19 She has sent forth her hands on the distaff, and her palms have held the spindle.
19 Suas mãos operam o tear, e seus dedos manejam a roca.
20 She spreads out her palms to the poor, yea, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
20 Estende a mão para ajudar os pobres e abre os braços para os necessitados.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
21 Quando chega o inverno, não se preocupa, pois todos em sua família têm roupas quentes.
22 She makes herself ornamental coverings, her clothing is fine linen and purple.
22 Faz suas próprias cobertas e usa vestidos de linho fino e tecido vermelho.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits with the elders of the land.
23 Seu marido é respeitado na porta da cidade, onde se senta com as demais autoridades.
24 She makes fine linen garments, and sells, and she delivers belts to the merchant.
24 Faz roupas de linho com cintos e faixas para vender aos comerciantes.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she shall rejoice at the day to come.
25 Veste-se de força e dignidade e ri sem medo do futuro.
26 She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the law of kindness is on her tongue.
26 Quando ela fala, suas palavras são sábias; quando dá instruções, demonstra bondade.
27 She watches the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
27 Cuida bem de tudo em sua casa e nunca dá lugar à preguiça.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also , for he praises her:
28 Seus filhos se levantam e a chamam de “abençoada”, e seu marido a elogia:
29 Many are the daughters who work ably, but you rise above them all!
29 “Há muitas mulheres virtuosas neste mundo, mas você supera todas elas!”.
30 Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Jehovah, she shall be praised.
30 Os encantos são enganosos, e a beleza não dura para sempre, mas a mulher que teme o S
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
31 Recompensem-na por tudo que ela faz; que suas obras a elogiem publicamente.
