1 Why since times are not hidden from the Almighty, even those knowing Him do not see His days?
1 Por que o Todo-Poderoso não designa tempos de julgamento? E por que os que o conhecem não veem tais dias?
2 They move the landmarks; they seize and pasture flocks;
2 Há os que removem os limites, roubam os rebanhos e os apascentam.
3 If they drive away the ass of orphans; they take the widow's ox for a pledge;
3 Levam do órfão o jumento, da viúva, tomam-lhe o boi.
4 They turn the needy out of the way; the poor of the earth have hidden together.
4 Desviam do caminho aos necessitados, e os pobres da terra todos têm de esconder-se.
5 Behold, like wild asses in the desert, they go out in their work, seeking early for prey; the desert yields food for him for their young.
5 Como asnos monteses no deserto, saem estes para o seu mister, à procura de presa no campo aberto, como pão para eles e seus filhos.
6 They reap his fodder in the field, and they glean the wicked's vineyard.
6 No campo segam o pasto do perverso e lhe rabiscam a vinha.
7 They lodge naked ones without clothing, and give no cover against the cold.
7 Passam a noite nus por falta de roupa e não têm cobertas contra o frio.
8 They are wet with the showers of hills, and embrace the rock for lack of shelter.
8 Pelas chuvas das montanhas são molhados e, não tendo refúgio, abraçam-se com as rochas.
9 They seize the orphan from the breast, and lay a pledge on the poor.
9 Orfãozinhos são arrancados ao peito, e dos pobres se toma penhor;
10 They make them go without clothing, and hungry they lift up the sheaves.
10 de modo que estes andam nus, sem roupa, e, famintos, arrastam os molhos.
11 They press out oil between their walls; they tread winepresses, but are thirsty.
11 Entre os muros desses perversos espremem o azeite, pisam-lhes o lagar; contudo, padecem sede.
12 Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded cries for help; yet God does not charge unseemliness.
12 Desde as cidades gemem os homens, e a alma dos feridos clama; e, contudo, Deus não tem isso por anormal.
13 They are among rebellers against light; they do not recognize His ways, nor do they stay in His paths.
13 Os perversos são inimigos da luz, não conhecem os seus caminhos, nem permanecem nas suas veredas.
14 The murderer rising with the light kills the poor and needy, and in the night he is a thief.
14 De madrugada se levanta o homicida, mata ao pobre e ao necessitado, e de noite se torna ladrão.
15 And the adulterer's eye keeps watch for twilight, saying, No eye will see me; and he puts a covering on his face.
15 Aguardam o crepúsculo os olhos do adúltero; este diz consigo: Ninguém me reconhecerá; e cobre o rosto.
16 In the dark he digs through houses; they shut themselves up by day; they do not know the light.
16 Nas trevas minam as casas, de dia se conservam encerrados, nada querem com a luz.
17 For alike are morning and the shadow of death to them; for he knows the terrors of death shadow.
17 Pois a manhã para todos eles é como sombra de morte; mas os terrores da noite lhes são familiares.
18 He is swift on the waters; their part is cursed in the earth; he does not face the way of the vineyards.
18 Vós dizeis: Os perversos são levados rapidamente na superfície das águas; maldita é a porção dos tais na terra; já não andam pelo caminho das vinhas.
19 Drought and heat eat up the snow waters; Sheol those who have sinned.
19 A secura e o calor desfazem as águas da neve; assim faz a sepultura aos que pecaram.
20 The womb shall forget him; the worm shall suck on him; he shall be remembered no more; and injustice shall be broken like a tree.
20 A mãe se esquecerá deles, os vermes os comerão gostosamente; nunca mais haverá lembrança deles; como árvore será quebrado o injusto,
21 He ill treats the barren that bear not, and does no good to the widow.
21 aquele que devora a estéril que não tem filhos e não faz o bem à viúva.
22 He also draws the mighty with his strength; He rises up, and no one is sure of life.
22 Não! Pelo contrário, Deus por sua força prolonga os dias dos valentes; veem-se eles de pé quando desesperavam da vida.
23 He gives security to him, and he leans on it ; yet His eyes are on their ways.
23 Ele lhes dá descanso, e nisso se estribam; os olhos de Deus estão nos caminhos deles.
24 They are lifted up for a little while, but they are not; and they are brought low; they are gathered in like all others , and wither like the heads of ears of grain.
24 São exaltados por breve tempo; depois, passam, colhidos como todos os mais; são cortados como as pontas das espigas.
25 And if not, then who will prove me a liar, and make my speech into nothing?
25 Se não é assim, quem me desmentirá e anulará as minhas razões?
