1 Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loyal love is forever.
1 Rendei graças ao Senhor , porque ele é bom, e a sua misericórdia dura para sempre.
2 Let the redeemed of Yahweh declare it, those whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy
2 Digam-no os remidos do Senhor , os que ele resgatou da mão do inimigo
3 and gathered from the lands, from east and from west, from north and from south.
3 e congregou de entre as terras, do Oriente e do Ocidente, do Norte e do mar.
4 They wandered in the wilderness, in a desert. They could find no way to a city to inhabit.
4 Andaram errantes pelo deserto, por ermos caminhos, sem achar cidade em que habitassem.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul grew faint within them.
5 Famintos e sedentos, desfalecia neles a alma.
6 Then they cried out to Yahweh in their trouble. He delivered them from their distresses
6 Então, na sua angústia, clamaram ao Senhor , e ele os livrou das suas tribulações.
7 and led them by a straight way to get to a city to inhabit.
7 Conduziu-os pelo caminho direito, para que fossem à cidade em que habitassem.
8 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love, and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind,
8 Rendam graças ao Senhor por sua bondade e por suas maravilhas para com os filhos dos homens!
9 for he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good.
9 Pois dessedentou a alma sequiosa e fartou de bens a alma faminta.
10 Those who sat in darkness and gloom, prisoners of misery and iron—
10 Os que se assentaram nas trevas e nas sombras da morte, presos em aflição e em ferros,
11 because they rebelled against the words of God and spurned the counsel of the Most High,
11 por se terem rebelado contra a palavra de Deus e haverem desprezado o conselho do Altíssimo,
12 he therefore humbled their heart with trouble. They stumbled and there was no helper.
12 de modo que lhes abateu com trabalhos o coração — caíram, e não houve quem os socorresse.
13 Then they called to Yahweh for help in their trouble; he saved them from their distresses.
13 Então, na sua angústia, clamaram ao Senhor , e ele os livrou das suas tribulações.
14 He brought them out of darkness and gloom, and tore off their bonds.
14 Tirou-os das trevas e das sombras da morte e lhes despedaçou as cadeias.
15 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind,
15 Rendam graças ao Senhor por sua bondade e por suas maravilhas para com os filhos dos homens!
16 for he shatters the doors of bronze, and cuts through the bars of iron.
16 Pois arrombou as portas de bronze e quebrou as trancas de ferro.
17 Fools, because of their rebellious way and their iniquities, were afflicted.
17 Os estultos, por causa do seu caminho de transgressão e por causa das suas iniquidades, serão afligidos.
18 Their soul abhorred all food, and they approached the gates of death.
18 A sua alma aborreceu toda sorte de comida, e chegaram às portas da morte.
19 Then they called to Yahweh for help in their trouble. He saved them from their distresses.
19 Então, na sua angústia, clamaram ao Senhor , e ele os livrou das suas tribulações.
20 He sent his word and healed them, and he delivered them from their pits.
20 Enviou-lhes a sua palavra, e os sarou, e os livrou do que lhes era mortal.
21 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love, and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind,
21 Rendam graças ao Senhor por sua bondade e por suas maravilhas para com os filhos dos homens!
22 and let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his works with rejoicing.
22 Ofereçam sacrifícios de ações de graças e proclamem com júbilo as suas obras!
23 Those who went down to the sea into ships, doing business on the ⌞high seas⌟,
23 Os que, tomando navios, descem aos mares, os que fazem tráfico na imensidade das águas,
24 they saw the works of Yahweh, and his wonderful deeds in the deep.
24 esses veem as obras do Senhor e as suas maravilhas nas profundezas do abismo.
25 For he spoke and raised up a stormy wind, and it whipped up its waves.
25 Pois ele falou e fez levantar o vento tempestuoso, que elevou as ondas do mar.
26 They rose to the heavens; they plunged to the depths. Their soul melted in their calamity.
26 Subiram até aos céus, desceram até aos abismos; no meio destas angústias, desfalecia-lhes a alma.
27 They reeled and staggered like a drunkard, and ⌞they were at their wits’ end⌟.
27 Andaram, e cambalearam como ébrios, e perderam todo tino.
28 Then they cried out to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distresses.
28 Então, na sua angústia, clamaram ao Senhor , e ele os livrou das suas tribulações.
29 He made the storm be still and their waves became calm.
29 Fez cessar a tormenta, e as ondas se acalmaram.
30 Then they were glad because they grew silent, so he guided them to their desired harbor.
30 Então, se alegraram com a bonança; e, assim, os levou ao desejado porto.
31 Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for the children of humankind,
31 Rendam graças ao Senhor por sua bondade e por suas maravilhas para com os filhos dos homens!
32 and let them exalt him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
32 Exaltem-no também na assembleia do povo e o glorifiquem no conselho dos anciãos.
33 He turns rivers into a wilderness and springs of water into thirsty ground,
33 Ele converteu rios em desertos e mananciais, em terra seca;
34 a fruitful land into a salty place, because of the evil of its inhabitants.
34 terra frutífera, em deserto salgado, por causa da maldade dos seus habitantes.
35 He turns a wilderness into a pool of water and a dry land into springs of water.
35 Converteu o deserto em lençóis de água e a terra seca, em mananciais.
36 And he settles the hungry there, so that they may establish a city to inhabit,
36 Estabeleceu aí os famintos, os quais edificaram uma cidade em que habitassem.
37 and sow fields and plant vineyards, ⌞that they may yield fruit at harvest⌟.
37 Semearam campos, e plantaram vinhas, e tiveram fartas colheitas.
38 And he blesses them and they multiply greatly, and he does not let their cattle become few.
38 Ele os abençoou, de sorte que se multiplicaram muito; e o gado deles não diminuiu.
39 When they become few and they are bent down from the oppression of calamity and grief,
39 Mas tornaram a reduzir-se e foram humilhados pela opressão, pela adversidade e pelo sofrimento.
40 he pours contempt on princes and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.
40 Lança ele o desprezo sobre os príncipes e os faz andar errantes, onde não há caminho.
41 But he protects the needy from misery, and he makes their families like a flock.
41 Mas levanta da opressão o necessitado, para um alto retiro, e lhe prospera famílias como rebanhos.
42 The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth.
42 Os retos veem isso e se alegram, mas o ímpio por toda parte fecha a boca.
43 Whoever is wise, then let him observe these things, and let them consider Yahweh’s acts of loyal love.
43 Quem é sábio atente para essas coisas e considere as misericórdias do
