1 Then Yahweh answered Job and said,
1 O Senhor disse mais a Jó:
2 “Shall a faultfinder contend with Shaddai? Anyone who argues with God must answer it.”
2 “Será que alguém que usa de censuras poderá discutir com o Todo-Poderoso? Que responda a isso aquele que critica Deus!”
3 So Job answered Yahweh and said,
3 Então Jó respondeu ao Senhor e disse:
4 “Look, I am insignificant. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.
4 “Sou indigno. Que te responderia eu? Ponho a mão sobre a minha boca.
5 Once I have spoken, and I will not answer; even twice, but I will not proceed.”
5 Uma vez falei, e não direi mais nada; aliás, duas vezes, porém não prosseguirei.”
6 Then Yahweh answered Job from the storm, and he said,
6 Então o Senhor , do meio de um redemoinho, respondeu a Jó e disse:
7 “⌞Prepare yourself for a difficult task like a man⌟, and I will question you, and you shall declare to me.
7 “Cinja os lombos como homem, pois eu lhe farei perguntas, e você me responderá.
8 “Indeed, would you annul my justice? Would you condemn me, so that you might be righteous?
8 Será que você está querendo anular a minha justiça? Ou me condenará, para se justificar?
9 Or do you have an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his?
9 Você tem um braço tão forte como o braço de Deus? Você pode trovejar com a voz como ele troveja?
10 Adorn yourself with pride and dignity, and clothe yourself with splendor.
10 Adorne-se, então, de excelência e grandeza, e vista-se de majestade e glória.
11 Pour out the overflowing of your anger, and look at all the proud, and humble them.
11 Derrame as torrentes da sua ira; olhe para os orgulhosos e humilhe-os.
12 Look at all the proud, humble them, and tread down the wicked ⌞where they stand⌟.
12 Sim, olhe para eles e humilhe-os; esmague os ímpios no lugar onde estiverem.
13 Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in the grave.
13 Cubra-os todos no pó; prenda todos eles no sepulcro.
14 And I will also praise you, that your own right hand can save you.
14 Então também eu confessarei a seu respeito que a sua mão direita lhe dá vitória.”
15 “Look, Behemoth, which I have made just as I made you; it eats grass like the ox.
15 “Contemple agora o Beemote, que eu criei junto com você, e que come capim como o boi.
16 Look, its strength is in its loins and its power in the muscles of its stomach.
16 A força dele está nos seus lombos, e o seu poder, nos músculos do seu ventre.
17 It keeps its tail straight like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are tightly wound.
17 Ele endurece a sua cauda como cedro; os tendões das suas coxas estão entretecidos.
18 Its bones are tubes of copper, its limbs like rods of iron.
18 Os seus ossos são como tubos de bronze; as suas pernas são como barras de ferro.
19 “It is the first of God’s actions; the one who made him furnishes it with his sword.
19 Ele é obra-prima dos feitos de Deus; aquele que o fez o proveu de espada.
20 Yes, the mountains yield produce for it, and all ⌞wild animals⌟ play there.
20 Na verdade, os montes lhe produzem pasto, onde todos os animais selvagens se divertem.
21 Under the lotus tree it lies, in the hiding place of the reeds and in the marsh.
21 Deita-se debaixo das árvores de lótus, no esconderijo da lama, no meio dos juncos.
22 The lotus trees cover it with their shade; the wadi’s poplar trees surround it.
22 As árvores de lótus o cobrem com sua sombra; os salgueiros do ribeiro o rodeiam.
23 Look, if the river is turbulent, it is not frightened; it is confident even though the Jordan rushes against its mouth.
23 Se um rio transborda, ele não se apressa; fica tranquilo mesmo que o Jordão se levante até a sua boca.
24 Can anyone take it by its eyes? Can he pierce its nose with a snare?
24 Será que alguém pode apanhá-lo quando ele está olhando? Ou lhe meter um laço pelo nariz?”
