¹ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, Under the shadow of the Almighty, will tarry,

¹ Aquele que habita no esconderijo do Altíssimo, à sombra do Onipotente descansará.

² Saying of YahwehMy refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I will trust.

² Direi do Senhor : Ele é o meu Deus, o meu refúgio, a minha fortaleza, e nele confiarei.

³ For, he, will rescue thee, From the snare of the fowler, From the destructive pestilence.

³ Porque ele te livrará do laço do passarinheiro e da peste perniciosa.

⁴ With his pinion, will he cover thee, And, under his wings, shalt thou seek refuge, A shield and buckler, is his faithfulness.

⁴ Ele te cobrirá com as suas penas, e debaixo das suas asas estarás seguro; a sua verdade é escudo e broquel.

⁵ Thou shalt not be afraid, Of the dread of the night, Of the arrow that flieth by day;

⁵ Não temerás espanto noturno, nem seta que voe de dia,

⁶ Of the pestilence that, in darkness, doth walk, Of the plague that layeth waste at noonday.

⁶ nem peste que ande na escuridão, nem mortandade que assole ao meio-dia.

⁷ There shall fall, at thy side, a thousand, Yea, myriads, at thy right hand, Unto thee, shall it not come nigh;

⁷ Mil cairão ao teu lado, e dez mil, à tua direita, mas tu não serás atingido.

⁸ Save only, with thine own eyes, shalt thou discern, And, the recompense of the lawless, shalt thou see.

⁸ Somente com os teus olhos olharás e verás a recompensa dos ímpios.

⁹ Because, thou, Yahweh, my refuge,The Most High, thou last made thy dwelling-place,

⁹ Porque tu, ó Senhor , és o meu refúgio! O Altíssimo é a tua habitação.

¹⁰ There shall not be sent unto thee misfortune, Nor shall, plague, come near into thy tent;

¹⁰ Nenhum mal te sucederá, nem praga alguma chegará à tua tenda.

¹¹ For, his messengers, will he charge concealing thee, To keep thee, in all thy ways;

¹¹ Porque aos seus anjos dará ordem a teu respeito, para te guardarem em todos os teus caminhos.

¹² On hands, will they bear thee up, Lest thou strike, against a stone, thy foot;

¹² Eles te sustentarão nas suas mãos, para que não tropeces com o teu pé em pedra.

¹³ On the lion and adder, shalt thou tread, Shalt trample on young lion and crocodile.

¹³ Pisarás o leão e a áspide; calcarás aos pés o filho do leão e a serpente.

¹⁴ Because, on me, he hath set firm his love, Therefore will I deliver him, I will set him on high, Because he hath known my Name;

¹⁴ Pois que tão encarecidamente me amou, também eu o livrarei; pô-lo-ei num alto retiro, porque conheceu o meu nome.

¹⁵ He shall call me, and I will answer him, With him, will, I, be, in distress, I will rescue him, and will honour him;

¹⁵ Ele me invocará, e eu lhe responderei; estarei com ele na angústia; livrá-lo-ei e o glorificarei.

¹⁶ With length of days, will I satisfy him, And will show him my salvation.

¹⁶ Dar-lhe-ei abundância de dias e lhe mostrarei a minha salvação.
