1 O God! with our own ears, have we heard, Our fathers, have recounted to us,The work thou didst work, In their day, In the days of aforetime:
1 Ó Deus, nós ouvimos com os nossos ouvidos, nossos pais nos têm contado os feitos que realizaste em seus dias, nos tempos da antigüidade.
2 Thou thyself, with thine own handDidst dispossess, nations, and didst plant them, Didst break peoples in pieces, and didst spread them out:
2 Tu expeliste as nações com a tua mão, mas a eles plantaste; afligiste os povos, mas a eles estendes-te largamente.
3 For, not by their own sword, gat they possession of the land, Nor did, their own arm, win victory for them,But thine own right hand, and thine own arm, and the light of thy face, Because thou hadst accepted them.
3 Pois não foi pela sua espada que conquistaram a terra, nem foi o seu braço que os salvou, mas a tua destra e o teu braço, e a luz do teu rosto, porquanto te agradaste deles.
4 Thou thyself, art my king, O God, Command thou the victories of Jacob.
4 Tu és o meu Rei, ó Deus; ordena livramento para Jacó.
5 By thee, will we thrust at, our adversaries, In thy Name, will we tread down our assailants;
5 Por ti derrubamos os nossos adversários; pelo teu nome pisamos os que se levantam contra nós.
6 For, not in my bow, will I trust, Nor shall, my sword, give me victory;
6 Pois não confio no meu arco, nem a minha espada me pode salvar.
7 For thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And, them who hated us, hast thou put to shame.
7 Mas tu nos salvaste dos nossos adversários, e confundiste os que nos odeiam.
8 In God, have we boasted all the day, And, thy Nameunto times age-abiding, will we praise. Selah.
8 Em Deus é que nos temos gloriado o dia todo, e sempre louvaremos o teu nome.
9 But nay thou hast rejected, and confounded us, And wilt not go forth with our hosts;
9 Mas agora nos rejeitaste e nos humilhaste, e não sais com os nossos exércitos.
10 Thou sufferest us to turn back from the adversary, And, they who hate us, have plundered at will:
10 Fizeste-nos voltar as costas ao inimigo e aqueles que nos odeiam nos despojam à vontade.
11 Thou dost give us up like sheep to be devoured, And, amongst the nations, hast thou scattered us.
11 Entregaste-nos como ovelhas para alimento, e nos espalhaste entre as nações.
12 Thou dost sell thy people for, no-value, And hast not made increase by their price.
12 Vendeste por nada o teu povo, e não lucraste com o seu preço.
13 Thou dust make us, A reproach to our neighbours, A mockery and a derision to them who are round about us:
13 Puseste-nos por opróbrio aos nossos vizinhos, por escárnio e zombaria àqueles que estão à roda de nós.
14 Thou dust make us, A by-word among the nations,A shaking of the head among the peoples.
14 Puseste-nos por provérbio entre as nações, por ludíbrio entre os povos.
15 All the day, is my confusion before me, And, the shame of my face, hath covered me:
15 A minha ignomínia está sempre diante de mim, e a vergonha do meu rosto me cobre,
16 At the voice of him who reproacheth and revileth, At the face of the foe and avenger.
16 à voz daquele que afronta e blasfema, à vista do inimigo e do vingador.
17 All this, hath come upon us, Yet had we not forgotten thee, Neither had we dealt falsely with thy covenant;
17 Tudo isto nos sobreveio; todavia não nos esquecemos de ti, nem nos houvemos falsamente contra o teu pacto.
18 Our heart had not drawn back, Nor had our goings swerved from thy path;
18 O nosso coração não voltou atrás, nem os nossos passos se desviaram das tuas veredas,
19 That thou shouldst have crushed us down in the place of wild dogs, And covered us over with a deadly shadow.
19 para nos teres esmagado onde habitam os chacais, e nos teres coberto de trevas profundas.
20 If we had forgotten the Name of our God, And had spread forth our hands unto the GOD of the foreigner,
20 Se nos tivéssemos esquecido do nome do nosso Deus, e estendido as nossas mãos para um deus estranho,
21 Would not, God, have searched into this, Seeing that, he, knoweth the secrets of the heart?
21 porventura Deus não haveria de esquadrinhar isso? pois ele conhece os segredos do coração.
22 Surely, for thy sake, have we been slain all the day, We have been accounted as sheep for slaughter.
22 Mas por amor de ti somos entregues à morte o dia todo; somos considerados como ovelhas para o matadouro.
23 Awake thou! wherefore shouldst thou sleep, O Lord? Bestir thee! do not reject us altogether!
23 Desperta! por que dormes, Senhor? Acorda! não nos rejeites para sempre.
24 Wherefore shouldst thou hide, thy face? Shouldst forget our humiliation and our oppression?
24 Por que escondes o teu rosto, e te esqueces da nossa tribulação e da nossa angústia?
25 For our soul, sinketh down to the dust, Our body, cleaveth to the earth.
25 Pois a nossa alma está abatida até o pó; o nosso corpo pegado ao chão.
26 Arise to our help, And ransom us, because of thine own lovingkindness.
26 Levanta-te em nosso auxílio, e resgata-nos por tua benignidade.
