1 I, am the man, that hath seen affliction, by the rod of his indignation;
1 Eu sou o homem que conheceu a dor, sob a vara de seu furor.
2 Me, hath he driven out and brought into darkness, and not light;
2 Conduziu-me e me fez caminhar nas trevas e não na claridade.
3 Surely, against me, doth he again and again, turn his hand all the day.
3 Ele não cessa de voltar a mão todos os dias contra mim.
4 He hath worn out my flesh and my skin, hath broken my bones;
4 Consumiu minha carne e minha pele, partiu meus ossos.
5 He hath built up against me, and carried round me, fortifications and a trench;
5 Em torno de mim acumulou veneno e dor.
6 In dark places, hath he made me sit, like the dead of age-past times.
6 Fez-me morar nas trevas como os mortos do tempo antigo.
7 He hath walled up around me, that I cannot get out, hath weighted my fetter;
7 Cercou-me com muralhas sem saída, carregou-me de pesados grilhões.
8 Yea, when I make outcry and implore, he hath shut out my prayer;
8 Não obstante meus gritos e apelos sufocou a minha prece!
9 He hath walled in my ways with hewn stone, my paths, hath he caused to wind back.
9 Fechou-me a vereda com pedras e obstruiu o meu caminho.
10 A bear lying in wait, he is to me, a lion, in secret places;
10 Foi ele para mim qual urso de emboscada, qual leão traiçoeiro.
11 My ways, hath he turned aside, and hath torn me in pieces, hath made me desolate;
11 Desviou-me para me dilacerar, deixando-me no abandono.
12 He hath trodden his bow, and set me up, as a mark for the arrow.
12 Retesou o arco e me tomou para alvo de suas setas.
13 He hath caused to enter my reins, the sons of his quiver;
13 Cravou em meus rins as flechas de sua aljava.
14 I have become a derision to all my people, their song all the day;
14 Tornei-me escárnio do meu povo, objeto constante de suas canções.
15 He hath sated me with bitter things, hath drenched me with wormwood.
15 Saturou-me de amarguras, saciou-me de absinto.
16 And he hath crushed, with gravel-stones, my teeth, hath made me cower in ashes;
16 Quebrou-me os dentes com cascalhos, mergulhou-me em cinzas.
17 And thou hast thrust away from welfare, my soul, I have forgotten prosperity;
17 A paz foi roubada de minha alma, nem sei mais o que é felicidade.
18 And I said, Vanished is mine endurance, even mine expectation, from Yahweh.
18 E eu penso: perdi minha força e minha esperança no Senhor.
19 Remember my humiliation and my fleeings, the wormwood and poison;
19 A lembrança de meus tormentos e minhas misérias é para mim absinto e veneno.
20 Thou wilt, indeed remember, that, bowed down concerning myself, is my soul;
20 A pensar nisso sem cessar, minha alma desfalece dentro de mim.
21 This, will I bring back to my heart, therefore, will I hope.
21 Eis, porém, o que vou tomar a peito para recuperar a esperança.
22 The lovingkindnesses of Yahweh, verily they are not exhausted, Verily! not at an end, are his compassions:
22 É graças ao Senhor que não fomos aniquilados, porque não se esgotou sua piedade.
23 New things for the mornings! Abundant is thy faithfulness:
23 Cada manhã ele se manifesta e grande é sua fidelidade.
24 My portion, is Yahweh, saith my soul, For this cause, will I wait for him.
24 Disse-me a alma: o Senhor é minha partilha, e assim nele confio.
25 Good is Yahweh, to them who wait for him, to the soul that will seek him;
25 O Senhor é bom para quem nele confia, para a alma que o procura.
26 Good it isboth to wait and to be silent, for the deliverance of Yahweh;
26 Bom é esperar em silêncio o socorro do Senhor.
27 Good it is for a man, that he should bear the yoke in his youth.
27 É bom para o homem carregar seu jugo na mocidade.
28 Let him sit alone, and keep silence, because he took it upon himself:
28 Permaneça só e em silêncio, quando Deus lho determinar!
29 Let him put, in the dust, his mouth, peradventure, there is hope!
29 Leve sua boca ao pó; haverá, talvez, esperança?
30 Let him give, to him that smiteth him, his cheek, let him be sated with reproach.
30 Estenda a face a quem o fere, e se farte de opróbrios!
31 Surely My Lord, will not cast off, unto times age-abiding;
31 Porque o Senhor não repele para sempre.
32 Surely, though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion, according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses;
32 Após haver afligido, ele tem piedade, porque é grande sua misericórdia.
33 Surely he hath not afflicted from his heart, nor caused sorrow to the sons of men.
33 Não lhe alegra o coração humilhar e afligir os homens.
34 To crush, under his feet, any of the prisoners of the earth;
34 Calcar aos pés todos os cativos da terra;
35 To turn aside the right of a man, before the face of the Most High;
35 violar o direito de um homem à face do Altíssimo;
36 To oppress a son of earth in his cause, My Lord, hath made no provision.
36 lesar os direitos de outros... Não vê tudo isso o Senhor?
37 Who was it that spake, and it was done, , My Lord, had not commanded?
37 De quem se executa a ordem, sem que Deus a ordene?
38 Out of the mouth of the Most High, Proceed there not misfortunes and blessing?
38 Não é da boca do Altíssimo que procedem males e bens?
39 Why should a living son of earth complain, because of his sins?
39 De que pode o homem em vida queixar-se? Que cada um se queixe de seus pecados.
40 Let us search out our ways, and examine them well, and let us return unto Yahweh;
40 Examinemos, escrutemos o nosso proceder, e voltemos para o Senhor.
41 Let us lift up our heart, to the opened palms, to the Mighty One in the heavens;
41 Elevemos os corações, tanto quanto as mãos, para Deus lá nos céus.
42 We, have trespassed and rebelled, Thou, hast not pardoned.
42 Pecamos, recalcitramos, e não nos perdoastes.
43 Thou hast covered thyself with anger, and pursued us, hast slainhast not spared;
43 Cobristes-vos de cólera para nos perseguir. Matastes sem piedade.
44 Thou hast screened thyself with the clouds, that prayer, should not pass through;
44 Numa nuvem vos envolvestes para impedir que a prece a atravessasse.
45 Offscouring and refuse, dost thou make us, in the midst of the peoples.
45 E de nós fizestes raspas, refugo das nações.
46 With their mouth, opened wide over us, all our foes.
46 Contra nós abrem a boca todos os nossos inimigos.
47 Terror and a pit, have befallen us, tumult and grievous injury;
47 Fosso e terror - é o nosso quinhão, com ruínas e desolação.
48 With streams of water, mine eye runneth down, over the grievous injury of the daughter of my people.
48 Rios de lágrimas correm-me dos olhos, por causa da ruína da filha de meu povo.
49 Mine eye, poureth itself out and ceaseth not, without relief;
49 Não cessam meus olhos de chorar, porque não cessa {a desgraça},
50 Until Yahweh out of the heavens shall look forth, and see,
50 até que do alto dos céus o Senhor desça seu olhar.
51 Mine eye dealeth severely with my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
51 Minha alma se amargura, ao ver todas as filhas da minha cidade.
52 They, have laid snares, for me as a bird, who are mine enemies without cause:
52 Caçaram-me como a um pardal os que, sem razão, me odeiam.
53 They have cut off, in the dungeon, my life, and have cast a stone upon me;
53 Quiseram precipitar-me no fosso rolando uma pedra sobre mim.
54 Waters, flowed over, my head, I said, I am cut off!
54 Acima de mim subiam as águas: Estou perdido!, exclamei.
55 I have called upon thy Name, O Yahweh, out of the dungeon below;
55 Invoquei, Senhor, o vosso nome do profundo fosso.
56 My voice, thou hast heard,do not close thine ear to my respite, to mine outcry;
56 Ouvistes-me gritar: Não aparteis do meu chamado o vosso ouvido.
57 Thou drewest near, in the day I kept calling on thee, thou saidst, Do not fear!
57 E vós viestes no dia em que vos invoquei e dissestes: Não tenhas medo!
58 Thou hast pleaded, O My Lord, the pleas of my soul, hast redeemed my life;
58 Defendestes, Senhor, a minha causa, e minha vida resgatastes.
59 Thou hast beheld, O Yahweh, my failure to get justice, Pronounce thou my sentence;
59 Vistes, Senhor, o mal que me fizeram: fazei-me justiça.
60 Thou hast seen all their vindictiveness, all their plots against me.
60 Vós vedes seus projetos vingativos e suas tramas contra mim.
61 Thou hast heard their reproach, O Yahweh, all their plots against me;
61 Senhor, ouvistes suas injúrias e todos os seus conluios contra mim;
62 The lips of mine assailants, and their mutterings, are against me, all the day;
62 As palavras de meus inimigos e o que sem cessar estão tramando contra mim.
63 On their downsitting and their uprising, do thou look, I, am their song.
63 Observai-os: sentados ou de pé, fazem de mim objeto de suas canções.
64 Thou wilt render to them a recompense, O Yahweh, according to the work of their hands;
64 Dai-lhes, Senhor, a paga, o que merece o seu proceder.
65 Thou wilt suffer them a veiling of heart, thy curse to them;
65 Cegai-lhes o coração; feri-os com a vossa maldição;
66 Thou wilt pursue in anger, and wilt destroy them, from under the heavens of Yahweh.
66 persegui-os com vossa cólera, e exterminai-os do nosso universo, Senhor!
