¹ Moreover Elihu, responded and said:

¹ Disse mais Eliú:

² This, dost thou think to be right? Thou hast saidMy righteousness is more than GODS.

² Tens por direito dizeres: Maior é a minha justiça do que a de Deus?

³ For thou dost say, How can one profit by thee? How can I benefit, more than by my sin?

³ Porque dizes: Que me aproveita? Que proveito tenho mais do que se eu tivera pecado?

⁴ I, will answer thee plainly, and thy friends with thee.

⁴ Eu te darei respostas, a ti e aos teus amigos contigo.

⁵ Look at the heavens and see,and survey the skiesthey are higher than thou.

⁵ Atenta para os céus, e vê; e contempla o firmamento que é mais alto do que tu.

⁶ If thou sinnest, what canst thou work against him? Or, if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him?

⁶ Se pecares, que efetuarás contra ele? Se as tuas transgressões se multiplicarem, que lhe farás com isso?

⁷ If thou art righteous, what canst thou give unto him? Or what, at thy hand, can he accept?

⁷ Se fores justo, que lhe darás, ou que receberá ele da tua mão?

⁸ Unto a man like thyself, might thy lawlessness

⁸ A tua impiedade poderia fazer mal a outro tal como tu; e a tua justiça poderia aproveitar a um filho do homem.

⁹ By reason of the multitude of oppressions, make outcry, They cry for help, by reason of the arm of the mighty;

⁹ Por causa da multidão das opressões os homens clamam; clamam por socorro por causa do braço dos poderosos.

¹⁰ But none saithWhere is GOD my maker, Who giveth songs in the night;

¹⁰ Mas ninguém diz: Onde está Deus meu Criador, que inspira canções durante a noite;

¹¹ Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and, beyond the bird of the heavens, giveth us wisdom?

¹¹ que nos ensina mais do que aos animais da terra, e nos faz mais sábios do que as aves do céu?

¹² There, make outcry, and he answereth not, because of the arrogance of evil-doers.

¹² Ali clamam, porém ele não responde, por causa da arrogância os maus.

¹³ Howbeit, vanity, will GOD not hear, Yea, the Almighty, will not regard it.

¹³ Certo é que Deus não ouve o grito da vaidade, nem para ela atentará o Todo-Poderoso.

¹⁴ How much less when thou sayest thou wilt not regard him! The cause, is before him, and thou must wait for him.

¹⁴ Quanto menos quando tu dizes que não o vês. A causa está perante ele; por isso espera nele.

¹⁵ But, now, because it is not so, His anger hath punished, and yet hath he not at all known of transgression;

¹⁵ Mas agora, porque a sua ira ainda não se exerce, nem grandemente considera ele a arrogância,

¹⁶ Thus, Job, vainly openeth his mouth, Without knowledge, he multiplieth words.

¹⁶ por isso abre Jó em vão a sua boca, e sem conhecimento multiplica palavras.
