1 Lo! all , hath mine own eye seen,Mine ear hath heard and understood it:

2 Just as ye know, I too, know, I, fall not short, of you.

3 But indeed, I, unto the Almighty, would speak, and, to direct my argument unto GOD, would I be well pleased.
3 Quero falar diretamente com o Todo-poderoso, quero defender minha causa diante de Deus.
4 For, in truth, ye, do besmear with falsehood, Worthless physicians, all of you!
4 Vocês me difamam com mentiras; são médicos incapazes de curar.
5 Oh that ye would, altogether held your peace, and it should serve you for wisdom!
5 Se ao menos se calassem! É a atitude mais sábia que poderiam tomar.
6 Hear, I pray you, the argument of my mouth, and, to the pleadings of my lips, give heed:
6 Ouçam minha defesa, prestem atenção a meus argumentos.
7 Is it, for God, ye would speak perversely? And, for him, would ye speak deceit:
7 “Vocês querem defender Deus com mentiras? Apresentam argumentos desonestos em nome dele?
8 Even, for him, would ye be partial? Or, for GOD, would ye plead?
8 Distorcem seu testemunho em favor dele? Acaso são advogados de Deus?
9 Would it be well, when he searched you out? Or, as one might jest with a mortal, would ye jest, with him?
9 O que acontecerá quando ele decidir investigá-los? Conseguirão enganá-lo como enganam qualquer pessoa?
10 He will, severely rebuke, you, if ye are secretly partial.
10 Não! Certamente ele os repreenderá se distorcerem às escondidas seu testemunho em favor dele.
11 Shall not, his majesty, overwhelm you? and, the dread of him, fall upon you?
11 Acaso a majestade dele não os aterrorizará? O terror dele não cairá sobre vocês?
12 Are not your memorable sayings, proverbs of ashes? Breastworks of clay, your breastworks?
12 Suas frases feitas valem tanto quanto cinzas; sua defesa é fraca como um pote de barro.
13 Quietly let me alone, that, I, may speak out, then let come on me, what may.
13 “Calem-se e deixem-me em paz! Permitam-me falar, e eu arcarei com as consequências.
14 In any case, I will take up my flesh in my teeth, and, my life, will I put in my hand:
14 Sim, porei minha vida em risco e direi o que penso de fato.
15 Lo! he may slay me, , for him, will I wait,Nevertheless, my waysunto his face, will I show to be right:
15 Ainda que Deus me mate, ele é minha única esperança; apresentarei a ele minha causa.
16 Even he, will be on my sideunto salvation, For, not before his face, shall any impious person come.
16 Isto, porém, é o que me salvará: não sou ímpio; se o fosse, não poderia me colocar diante dele.
17 Hear ye patiently my speech, and be my declaration in your ears.
17 “Escutem bem o que vou dizer, ouçam-me com atenção.
18 Lo! I pray you, I have set forth in order a plea, I know that, I, shall be found right.
18 Preparei minha defesa; serei declarado inocente.
19 Who is it that shall contend with me? For, now, if I should hold my peace, why! I should breathe my last!
19 Quem pode discutir comigo a esse respeito? E, se provarem que estou errado, me calarei e morrerei.”
20 Only, two things, do thou not with me, then, from thy face, will I not hide me:
20 “Ó Deus, concede-me estas duas coisas, e não me esconderei de ti.
21 Thy handfrom off me, take thou far away, and, thy terror, let it not startle me!
21 Remove tua mão de cima de mim e não me assustes com tua temível presença.
22 Then call thou, and, I, will answer, Or I will speak, and reply thou unto me.
22 Chama-me, e eu responderei; ou permita que eu fale e responde-me.
23 How many are mine iniquities and sins? My transgression and my sin, let me know!
23 Diga-me, o que fiz de errado? Mostra-me minha rebeldia e meu pecado.
24 Wherefore, thy face, shouldst thou hide? Or count me, as an enemy to thee?
24 Por que te afastas de mim? Por que me tratas como teu inimigo?
25 A driven leaf, wilt thou cause to tremble? Or, dry stubble, wilt thou pursue?
25 Atormentarias uma folha soprada pelo vento? Perseguirias a palha seca?
26 For thou writest, against me, bitter things, and dost make me inherit the iniquities of my youth;
26 “Escreves acusações amargas contra mim e trazes à tona os pecados de minha juventude.
27 And thou dost putin the stocksmy feet, and observest all my paths, Against the roots of my feet, thou dost cut out a bound;
27 Prendes meus pés com correntes, vigias todos os meus caminhos e examinas todas as minhas pegadas.
28 And, a man himself, as a rotten thing, weareth out, as a garment which the moth hath eaten.
28 Eu me consumo como madeira que apodrece, como roupa comida pela traça.”
