1 After this Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
1 Após estas coisas Jesus partiu para o outro lado do mar da Galileia, que é o mar de Tiberíades.
2 A great crowd followed him because they saw the signs miracles he performed on the sick.
2 E uma grande multidão o seguia, porque eles viam seus milagres que operava sobre os enfermos.
3 Jesus and his disciples went to the mountain.
3 E Jesus subiu ao monte, e assentou-se ali com os seus discípulos.
4 It was time for the Passover feast of the Jews.
4 E a páscoa, a festa dos judeus, estava próxima.
5 Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming to him. He asked Philip: »Where will we buy enough bread to feed them?«
5 Então Jesus levantando os seus olhos e vendo que uma grande multidão vinha até ele, disse a Filipe: Onde nós compraremos pão, para que estes possam comer?
6 He said this to test him for he knew what he would do.
6 Mas dizia isso para pôr à prova; porque ele bem sabia o que ia fazer.
7 Philip answered: »Two hundred shillings worth of bread is not sufficient for everyone to take a little.«
7 Filipe respondeu-lhe: Duzentos denários de pão não são o suficiente, para que cada um deles tome um pouco.
8 Andrew, Simon Peters brother, one of his disciples said:
8 Um dos seus discípulos, André, irmão de Simão Pedro, disse-lhe:
9 »There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish. What are these among so many?«
9 Está aqui um rapaz que tem cinco pães de cevada e dois pequenos peixes; mas o que é isso para tantos?
10 Jesus said: »Make the people sit down.« There were about five thousand men who sat down on the grass.
10 E disse Jesus: Fazei os homens se assentarem. E havia muita grama naquele lugar. Assim os homens se sentaram, em número de aproximadamente cinco mil.
11 Jesus gave thanks and then he distributed the loaves along with the fish to those sitting on the grass.
11 E Jesus tomou os pães, e havendo dado graças, ele distribuiu para os discípulos, e os discípulos, para os que estavam assentados; e do mesmo modo os peixes, quanto eles queriam.
12 When they were filled he told the disciples to gather up the broken pieces left over so nothing would be wasted.
12 E, quando estavam saciados, ele disse aos seus discípulos: Recolhei os pedaços que sobraram, para que nada se perca.
13 They gathered twelve baskets of leftovers after everyone had eaten.
13 Recolheram, pois, e encheram doze cestos de pedaços dos cinco pães de cevada, que sobejaram aos que haviam comido.
14 When the people saw the miracle performed they said: »Truly this is the prophet who came into the world.«
14 Então, vendo aqueles homens o milagre que Jesus tinha feito, diziam: Este é verdadeiramente o profeta que devia vir ao mundo.
15 Jesus knew that they were about to take him by force and make him king. So he withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
15 Percebendo, pois, Jesus que estavam prestes a vir e levá-lo à força para o fazerem rei, ele partiu novamente sozinho para o monte.
16 That evening his disciples went to the sea.
16 E, chegando à tarde, os seus discípulos desceram para o mar.
17 They boarded a boat to travel over the sea to Capernaum. It was dark and Jesus had not yet come to them.
17 E, entrando no barco, foram para o mar em direção a Cafarnaum. E já era escuro, e Jesus ainda não tinha vindo até eles.
18 A great wind made the sea rise.
18 E o mar se levantou, porque um grande vento assoprava.
19 They rowed about four miles and saw Jesus walking on the sea. He came close to the boat. They were afraid.
19 Tendo, pois, remado uns vinte e cinco ou trinta estádios, eles viram Jesus andando sobre o mar, e aproximando-se do barco, e eles ficaram com medo.
20 He said to them: »It is I. Do not be afraid!«
20 Mas ele lhes disse: Sou eu; não temais.
21 They eagerly brought him into the boat. The boat soon arrived at the land where they were going.
21 Então eles de boa vontade o receberam no barco; e imediatamente o barco chegou à terra para onde iam.
22 The next day the crowd stood by the side of the sea. Jesus entered the only boat while his disciples went away alone.
22 No dia seguinte, quando a multidão que ficara no outro lado do mar viu que não havia ali nenhum outro barco, exceto aquele no qual seus discípulos haviam entrado, e que Jesus não entrara com seus discípulos naquele barco, mas que os seus discípulos tinham ido sós;
23 Small boats from Tiberias came there to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord gave thanks.
23 (contudo, outros barcos haviam chegado de Tiberíades para perto do lugar onde comeram o pão, após o Senhor ter dado graças);
24 When the crowd saw that Jesus and his disciples were not there they got into the boats and traveled to Capernaum seeking Jesus.
24 portanto, vendo a multidão que Jesus não estava ali, nem os seus discípulos, eles também embarcaram, e foram a Cafarnaum, em busca de Jesus.
25 They found him on the other side of the sea and said: »Rabbi Teacher when did you come here?«
25 E, achando-o no outro lado do mar, disseram-lhe: Rabi, quando tu chegaste aqui?
26 Jesus said: »Truly I tell you, you seek me not because you saw miracles but because you ate of the loaves and were full.
26 Jesus respondeu e disse-lhes: Na verdade, na verdade eu vos digo que me buscais, não porque vistes milagres, mas porque comestes do pão, e vos saciastes.
27 »Do not work for food that perishes but for food that offers everlasting life. The Son of man will give you this food. The Father, even God, has set his seal upon him.«
27 Trabalhai, não pela comida que perece, mas pela comida que dura para a vida eterna, a qual o Filho do homem vos dará; porque a ele Deus o Pai, o selou.
28 They asked: »What must we do, that we may work the works of God?«
28 Então, lhe disseram: O que devemos fazer, para realizar as obras de Deus?
29 Jesus answered: »This is the work of God, that you have an active faith in the one whom he has sent.«
29 Jesus respondeu e disse-lhes: Esta é a obra de Deus: que creiais naquele que ele enviou.
30 They asked: »What do you offer for a sign miracle that we may see and believe you? What work will you do?
30 Disseram-lhe, pois: Que sinal, pois, fazes tu, para que o vejamos e creiamos em ti? O que tu operas?
31 »Our fathers ate manna in the wilderness. It is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.«
31 Nossos pais comeram o maná no deserto, como está escrito: Deu-lhes a comer o pão do céu.
32 Jesus responded: »I speak the truth! It was not Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven. My Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.
32 Então Jesus disse: Na verdade, na verdade eu vos digo: Moisés não vos deu o pão do céu, mas meu Pai vos dá o verdadeiro pão do céu.
33 »For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven. It gives life to the world.«
33 Porque o pão de Deus é aquele que desce do céu, e dá vida ao mundo.
34 They responded: »Lord, always give us this bread.«
34 Então disseram-lhe: Senhor, dá-nos sempre desse pão.
35 Jesus replied: »I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not hunger. The one who puts active faith in me will never thirst.
35 E Jesus lhes disse: Eu sou o pão da vida; aquele que vem a mim nunca terá fome, e quem crê em mim nunca terá sede.
36 »I told you. You have seen me and yet do not believe.
36 Mas eu vos digo: Que vós também me tendes visto, mas não credes.
37 »That which the Father gives me will come to me. I will not reject him who comes to me.
37 Todo aquele que meu Pai me dá, virá a mim; e o que vem a mim, de modo algum o lançarei fora.
38 »I do not do my own will. I came down from heaven to do the will of him that sent me.
38 Porque eu desci do céu, não para fazer a minha própria vontade, mas a vontade daquele que me enviou.
39 »This is the will of him that sent me that I should not lose any of those he has given me, but I should raise them up at the last day.
39 E esta é a vontade do Pai que me enviou: que nenhum de todos aqueles que me deu se perca, mas que o ressuscite no último dia.
40 »For this is the will of my Father. Every one who sees the Son and puts active faith in him will have everlasting life, and I will raise him up at the last day.«
40 E esta é a vontade daquele que me enviou: que todo aquele que vê o Filho e crê nele, possa ter a vida eterna, e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.
41 The Jews complained about him. This is because he said I am the bread that came down out of heaven.
41 Então os Judeus murmuravam dele, porque ele dissera: Eu sou o pão que desceu do céu.
42 They said: »Is Jesus the son of Joseph? We know his father and mother. How does he now say, I came down out of heaven?«
42 E eles diziam: Não é este Jesus, o filho de José, cujo pai e mãe nós conhecemos? Como, então, ele diz: Eu desci do céu?
43 Jesus answered: »Stop complaining and saying things against me.
43 Portanto, Jesus respondendo, disse-lhes: Não murmureis entre vós.
44 »No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him. I will resurrect him raise him up in the last day.
44 Ninguém pode vir a mim, se o Pai, que me enviou, não o trouxer; e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.
45 »It is written in the prophets: Jehovah shall teach them all. Every one who hears the Father and has learned comes to me. (Jeremiah 31:34)
45 Está escrito nos profetas: E eles serão todos ensinados por Deus. Portanto, cada homem que ouviu e aprendeu do pai, vem a mim.
46 »No one has seen the Father. Only he who is from God, He has seen the Father.
46 Não que algum homem tenha visto ao Pai, senão aquele que é de Deus, este tem visto ao Pai.
47 »Truly, truly I tell you, he who believes has everlasting life.
47 Na verdade, na verdade eu vos digo: Aquele que crê em mim tem a vida eterna.
48 »I am the bread of life.
48 Eu sou o pão da vida.
49 »Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.
49 Vossos pais comeram o maná no deserto e morreram.
50 »This is the bread that comes down out of heaven that a man may eat of it and not die.
50 Este é o pão que desce do céu, para que o homem que dele comer não morra.
51 »I am the living bread that came down out of heaven. If any man eats of this bread he will live forever. Yes and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.«
51 Eu sou o pão vivo que desceu do céu; se algum homem comer desse pão, ele viverá para sempre; e o pão que eu darei é a minha carne, a qual eu darei pela vida do mundo.
52 The Jews argued with one another saying: »How can this man give us his flesh to eat?«
52 Portanto, os judeus discutiram entre si, dizendo: Como poderia nos dar este homem a sua carne para comer?
53 Jesus responded to them: »Truly I tell you if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood you will not have life in yourselves.
53 Então Jesus lhes disse: Na verdade, na verdade eu vos digo: Se não comerdes a carne do Filho do homem, e não beberdes o seu sangue, não tereis vida em vós mesmos.
54 »He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life! I will raise him up at the last day.
54 Quem come a minha carne, e bebe o meu sangue, tem a vida eterna, e eu o ressuscitarei no último dia.
55 »For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
55 Porque a minha carne verdadeiramente é comida, e o meu sangue verdadeiramente é bebida.
56 »He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides with me, and I with him.
56 Quem come a minha carne, e bebe o meu sangue, permanece em mim, e eu nele.
57 »The living Father sent me and I live because of the Father. He who takes me for his food will live because of me.
57 Assim como o Pai, que vive, me enviou, e eu vivo pelo Pai; assim quem de mim se alimenta também viverá por mim.
58 »This is the bread that came down out of heaven. It is not like the bread manna the fathers ate and then died. He who eats this bread will live forever.«
58 Este é o pão que desceu do céu; não é o caso de vossos pais, que comeram o maná e morreram; quem comer este pão viverá para sempre.
59 He said these things in the synagogue when he taught in Capernaum.
59 Estas coisas ele disse ensinando na sinagoga em Cafarnaum.
60 When they heard this many of his disciples said: »This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?«
60 Portanto, muitos dos seus discípulos, ouvindo isso, disseram: Este é um discurso duro, quem o pode ouvir?
61 He knew his disciples complained about this. Jesus said: »Does this cause you to stumble?
61 Sabendo, pois, Jesus em si mesmo que os seus discípulos murmuravam sobre isto, ele disse-lhes: Isto vos ofende?
62 »What if you see the Son of man ascending where he was before?
62 O que seria, se vós vísseis o Filho do homem subir para onde estava antes?
63 »It is the spirit that gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I spoke to you are spirit and life.
63 O espírito é o que vivifica, a carne para nada aproveita; as palavras que eu vos falo, elas são espírito, e elas são vida.
64 »There are some of you who do not believe.« Jesus knew from the beginning whom they were who did not believe and who would betray him.
64 Mas há alguns de vós que não creem. Porque Jesus conhecia desde o princípio aqueles que não criam, e quem deveria o trair.
65 He stated: »For this reason listen to what I say. No man can come to me, except it be given to him from the Father.«
65 E ele dizia: Por isso, eu vos disse que nenhum homem pode vir a mim, a não ser que lhe fosse dado por meu Pai.
66 After this many of his disciples returned to their old ways. They did not walk with him anymore.
66 Desde daquele momento, muitos dos seus discípulos retrocederam, e não andavam mais com ele.
67 Jesus asked the twelve: »Will you also go away?«
67 Então, disse Jesus aos doze: Quereis vós também ir embora?
68 Simon Peter answered him: »Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life!
68 Então, Simão Pedro respondeu-lhe: Senhor, para quem iremos nós? Tu tens as palavras da vida eterna.
69 »We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.«
69 E nós cremos e estamos certos de que tu és o Cristo, o Filho do Deus vivo.
70 Jesus replied: »Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil false accuserslandererdemon«.
70 Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Não escolhi os doze de vós? E um de vós é um diabo.
71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot one of the twelve, for he would betray him.
71 Ele falava de Judas Iscariotes, filho de Simão, porque este deveria traí-lo, sendo um dos doze.
