1 BOOK THIRD: A Psalm of Assaph. Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure of heart.
1 Verdadeiramente bom é Deus para com Israel, para com os limpos de coração.
2 But as for me, it lacked but little that my feet had been moved: almost nothing was needed that my steps had slipped.
2 Quanto a mim, os meus pés quase que se desviaram; pouco faltou para que escorregassem os meus passos.
3 For I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
3 Pois eu tinha inveja dos néscios, quando via a prosperidade dos ímpios.
4 For there are no deadly fetters for them, but their strength is firm.
4 Porque não há apertos na sua morte, mas firme está a sua força.
5 They share not in the trouble of mortals, and with men are they not afflicted.
5 Não se acham em trabalhos como outros homens, nem são afligidos como outros homens.
6 Therefore is pride their neckchain: violence envelopeth them as a garment.
6 Por isso a soberba os cerca como um colar; vestem-se de violência como de adorno.
7 Their eyes start out from fatness: they have exceeded their hearts imaginings.
7 Os olhos deles estão inchados de gordura; eles têm mais do que o coração podia desejar.
8 They scorn, and speak wickedly of oppression: loftily do they speak.
8 São corrompidos e tratam maliciosamente de opressão; falam arrogantemente.
9 They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh busily on the earth.
9 Põem as suas bocas contra os céus, e as suas línguas andam pela terra.
10 Therefore do his people turn away hither: and waters of a full cup are drained by them.
10 Por isso o povo dele volta aqui, e águas de copo cheio se lhes espremem.
11 And they say, How should God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?
11 E eles dizem: Como o sabe Deus? Há conhecimento no Altíssimo?
12 Behold, these are the wicked; and yet prospering continually they increase in wealth.
12 Eis que estes são ímpios, e prosperam no mundo; aumentam em riquezas.
13 Verily in vain have I thus cleansed my heart, and have washed in innocency my hands:
13 Na verdade que em vão tenho purificado o meu coração; e lavei as minhas mãos na inocência.
14 While I was afflicted all the day, and my chastisement came every morning.
14 Pois todo o dia tenho sido afligido, e castigado cada manhã.
15 But if I were to say, I will speak thus: behold, I would be treacherous against the generation of thy children.
15 Se eu dissesse: Falarei assim; eis que ofenderia a geração de teus filhos.
16 And when I should think to know this, it would be trouble in my eyes;
16 Quando pensava em entender isto, foi para mim muito doloroso;
17 Until I enter into the sanctuary of God; and understand what their future will be.
17 Até que entrei no santuário de Deus; então entendi eu o fim deles.
18 Surely thou placest them on slippery spots: thou lettest them fall down into destruction.
18 Certamente tu os puseste em lugares escorregadios; tu os lanças em destruição.
19 How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they perish, they come to their end with terrific events.
19 Como caem na desolação, quase num momento! Ficam totalmente consumidos de terrores.
20 As a dream after awaking, O Lord, reject thou in wrath their image.
20 Como um sonho, quando se acorda, assim, ó Senhor, quando acordares, desprezarás a aparência deles.
21 For it fermented in my heart, and in my reins I felt sharp thrusts;
21 Assim o meu coração se azedou, e sinto picadas nos meus rins.
22 But I was indeed foolish, and I knew it not: I was as a thoughtless beast with thee.
22 Assim me embruteci, e nada sabia; fiquei como um animal perante ti.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast seized hold of me by my right hand.
23 Todavia estou de contínuo contigo; tu me sustentaste pela minha mão direita.
24 With thy counsel wilt thou guide me, and afterward take me on to glory.
24 Guiar-me-ás com o teu conselho, e depois me receberás na glória.
25 Whom have I in heaven? and beside thee I desire nothing upon earth.
25 Quem tenho eu no céu senão a ti? e na terra não há quem eu deseje além de ti.
26 Though my flesh and my heart should fall; yet the rock of my heart, and my portion will be God for ever.
26 A minha carne e o meu coração desfalecem; mas Deus é a fortaleza do meu coração, e a minha porção para sempre.
27 For, lo, those that are far from thee shall perish: thou destroyest every one that strayeth away from thee.
27 Pois eis que os que se alongam de ti, perecerão; tu tens destruído todos aqueles que se desviam de ti.
28 But as regardeth me, to draw near to God is good for me: I have put in the Lord Eternal my trust, that I may relate all thy works.
28 Mas para mim, bom é aproximar-me de Deus; pus a minha confiança no Senhor DEUS, para anunciar todas as tuas obras.
