1 Bless, O my soul, the Lord. O Lord my God, thou art very great; with glory and majesty art thou clothed.
1 Bendize, ó minha alma, ao Senhor ! sobrevestido de glória e majestade,
2 Thou art he who wrappeth himself in light as with a garment; who stretcheth out the heavens like a curtain;
2 coberto de luz como de um manto. Tu estendes o céu como uma cortina,
3 Who frameth of the waters the beams of his upperchambers; who maketh the clouds his chariot; who walketh along upon the wings of the wind:
3 pões nas águas o vigamento da tua morada, tomas as nuvens por teu carro e voas nas asas do vento.
4 Who maketh the winds his messengers; the flaming fire his ministers;
4 Fazes a teus anjos ventos e a teus ministros, labaredas de fogo.
5 Who hath founded the earth upon her bases, that she should not be moved to all eternity.
5 Lançaste os fundamentos da terra, para que ela não vacile em tempo nenhum.
6 Thou hadst covered the deep as with a garment: above the mountains stood the waters.
6 Tomaste o abismo por vestuário e a cobriste; as águas ficaram acima das montanhas;
7 At thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of thy thunder they hastened away.
7 à tua repreensão, fugiram, à voz do teu trovão, bateram em retirada.
8 They ascended mountains; they went down valleys, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them.
8 Elevaram-se os montes, desceram os vales, até ao lugar que lhes havias preparado.
9 Bounds hast thou set which they cannot pass over, that they return not again to cover the earth.
9 Puseste às águas divisa que não ultrapassarão, para que não tornem a cobrir a terra.
10 Thou art he who sendeth springs into the valleys, between mountains they run along.
10 Tu fazes rebentar fontes no vale, cujas águas correm entre os montes;
11 They give drink to all the beasts of the field: the wild asses quench thereon their thirst.
11 dão de beber a todos os animais do campo; os jumentos selvagens matam a sua sede.
12 By them have the fowls of the heaven ever their habitation, from between the branches they send forth their voice.
12 Junto delas têm as aves do céu o seu pouso e, por entre a ramagem, desferem o seu canto.
13 Who watereth the mountains from his upperchambers: from the fruit of thy works is the earth satisfied.
13 Do alto de tua morada, regas os montes; a terra farta-se do fruto de tuas obras.
14 Thou art he who causeth grass to grow for the cattle, and herbs by the service of man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth;
14 Fazes crescer a relva para os animais e as plantas, para o serviço do homem, de sorte que da terra tire o seu pão,
15 And wine that maketh joyful the heart of man, and oil to brighten his face, and bread which strengtheneth the heart of man.
15 o vinho, que alegra o coração do homem, o azeite, que lhe dá brilho ao rosto, e o alimento, que lhe sustém as forças.
16 Full of sap are the trees of the Lord, the cedars of Lebanon which he hath planted;
16 Avigoram-se as árvores do Senhor e os cedros do Líbano que ele plantou,
17 Where the birds make their nests: the storkfirtrees are her house.
17 em que as aves fazem seus ninhos; quanto à cegonha, a sua casa é nos ciprestes.
18 The high mountains are for the wild goats: the rocks are a shelter for the conies.
18 Os altos montes são das cabras montesinhas, e as rochas, o refúgio dos arganazes.
19 He hath made the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
19 Fez a lua para marcar o tempo; o sol conhece a hora do seu ocaso.
20 Thou causest darkness, and it becometh night, wherein creep forth all the beasts of the forest.
20 Dispões as trevas, e vem a noite, na qual vagueiam os animais da selva.
21 The young lions roar after their prey, and ask from God their food.
21 Os leõezinhos rugem pela presa e buscam de Deus o sustento;
22 The sun ariseth, they withdraw to their lairs, and lie down in their dens.
22 em vindo o sol, eles se recolhem e se acomodam nos seus covis.
23 Man goeth then forth unto his work, and to his labor until the evening.
23 Sai o homem para o seu trabalho e para o seu encargo até à tarde.
24 How manifold are thy works, O Lord! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
24 Que variedade, Senhor , nas tuas obras! Todas com sabedoria as fizeste; cheia está a terra das tuas riquezas.
25 Here is this great and wideextended sea; therein are moving things without number, living creatures both small and great.
25 Eis o mar vasto, imenso, no qual se movem seres sem conta, animais pequenos e grandes.
26 There the ships make their way: there also is the leviathan, whom thou hast made to sport therein.
26 Por ele transitam os navios e o monstro marinho que formaste para nele folgar.
27 All of these wait upon thee, to give them their food in its due season.
27 Todos esperam de ti que lhes dês de comer a seu tempo.
28 What thou givest them they gather: thou openest thy hand, they are satisfied with good.
28 Se lhes dás, eles o recolhem; se abres a mão, eles se fartam de bens.
29 Thou hidest thy face, they suddenly vanish: thou takest away their spirit, they perish, and to their dust they return.
29 Se ocultas o rosto, eles se perturbam; se lhes cortas a respiração, morrem e voltam ao seu pó.
30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created; and thou renewest the face of the earth.
30 Envias o teu Espírito, eles são criados, e, assim, renovas a face da terra.
31 The glory of the Lord will endure for ever; the Lord will rejoice in his works:
31 A glória do Senhor seja para sempre! Exulte o
32 He who looketh down on the earth, and she trembleth; who toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.
32 Com só olhar para a terra, ele a faz tremer; toca as montanhas, e elas fumegam.
33 I will sing unto the Lord while I live: I will sing praises to my God while I exist.
33 Cantarei ao Senhor enquanto eu viver; cantarei louvores ao meu Deus durante a minha vida.
34 May my speech be agreeable to him: I will indeed rejoice in the Lord.
34 Seja-lhe agradável a minha meditação; eu me alegrarei no
35 May the sinners cease from off the earth, and the wicked be no more. Bless, O my soul, the Lord. Hallelujah.
35 Desapareçam da terra os pecadores, e já não subsistam os perversos. Bendize, ó minha alma, ao Aleluia!
