1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy with which his mother instructed him.
1 Palavras do rei Lemuel, de Massá, que a mãe dele lhe ensinou.
2 What hast thou done, O my son: and what, O son of my body? and what, O son of my vows?
2 O que lhe direi, meu filho, filho do meu ventre? Que lhe direi, ó filho dos meus votos?
3 Give not unto women thy vigor, nor thy ways to those that ruin kings.
3 Não dê às mulheres a sua força, nem os seus caminhos às que destroem os reis.
4 Not for kings, O Lemoel, not for kings it is fitting to drink wine, nor for princes, strong drink:
4 Não é próprio dos reis, ó Lemuel, não é próprio dos reis beber vinho, nem dos príncipes desejar bebida forte.
5 Lest either might drink, and forget what is written in the law, and pervert the cause of all the afflicted.
5 Quando eles bebem, se esquecem da lei e pervertem o direito de todos os aflitos.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those who have an embittered soul.
6 Deem bebida forte aos que estão morrendo e vinho, aos amargurados de espírito;
7 Let such a one drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his trouble no more.
7 para que bebam e se esqueçam da sua pobreza, e não se lembrem mais da sua miséria.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb, for the cause of all fatherless children.
8 Abra a boca a favor do mudo, pelo direito de todos os desamparados.
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and decide the cause of the poor and needy.
9 Abra a boca, julgue retamente e faça justiça aos pobres e aos necessitados.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman: for far above pearls is her value.
10 Mulher virtuosa, quem a achará? O seu valor muito excede o de finas joias.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, and he will not see his gain diminish.
11 O coração do seu marido confia nela, e não haverá falta de ganho.
12 She treateth him well and not ill, all the days of her life.
12 Ela lhe faz bem e não mal, todos os dias da sua vida.
13 She seeketh for wool and flax, and worketh with her willing hands.
13 Busca lã e linho e de bom grado trabalha com as mãos.
14 She is become like the merchants ships: from afar doth she bring her food.
14 É como o navio mercante: de longe traz o seu pão.
15 And she riseth while it is yet night, and giveth provision to her household, and a task to her maidens.
15 É ainda noite, e ela já se levanta, e dá mantimento à sua casa e tarefa às suas servas.
16 She thinketh of a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
16 Ela examina uma propriedade e adquire-a; planta uma vinha com a renda do seu trabalho.
17 She girdeth with strength her loins, and giveth vigor to her arms.
17 Cinge os lombos com força e fortalece os seus braços.
18 She perceiveth that her profit is good: therefore her lamp goeth not out by night.
18 Ela percebe que o seu ganho é bom; a sua lâmpada não se apaga de noite.
19 She stretcheth out her hands to the spindle, and her palms hold fast the distaff.
19 Estende as mãos ao fuso, mãos que pegam na roca.
20 She spreadeth out wide her open palm to the poor: yea, her hands she stretcheth forth to the needy.
20 Abre a mão aos aflitos; e ainda a estende aos necessitados.
21 She hath no fear for her household of the snow: for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
21 Quanto à sua casa, não teme a neve, pois todos andam vestidos de lã escarlate.
22 Tapestrycovering she maketh for herself: of linen and purple is her attire.
22 Faz para si cobertas, veste-se de linho fino e de púrpura.
23 Well known is in the gates her husband, when he sitteth with the elders of the land.
23 Seu marido é estimado entre os juízes, quando se assenta com os anciãos da terra.
24 Fine tunics she maketh, and selleth them, and girdles she furnisheth unto the merchant.
24 Ela faz roupas de linho fino e as vende; ela fornece cintas aos comerciantes.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing: and she smileth at the coming of the last day.
25 A força e a dignidade são os seus vestidos, e, quanto ao dia de amanhã, não tem preocupações.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and the law of kindness is on her tongue.
26 Fala com sabedoria, e a instrução da bondade está na sua língua.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and the bread of idleness she doth not eat.
27 Cuida do bom andamento da sua casa e não come o pão da preguiça.
28 Her children rise up, and call her blessed; her husband, also, and he praiseth her:
28 Seus filhos se levantam e a chamam de bem-aventurada; seu marido a louva, dizendo:
29 "Many daughters have done virtuously; but thou excellest them all."
29 “Muitas mulheres são virtuosas no que fazem, mas você supera todas elas.”
30 False is grace, and vain is beauty: a woman only that feareth the Lord shall indeed be praised.
30 Enganosa é a graça, e vã é a formosura, mas a mulher que teme o essa será louvada.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.
31 Deem a ela o fruto das suas mãos, e que de público as suas obras a louvem.
