1 Then answered Bildad the Shuchite, and said,
1 Bildad de Chua tomou a palavra e disse:
2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and let like a mighty wind be the words of thy mouth?
2 Até quando dirás semelhantes coisas, e tuas palavras serão como um furacão?
3 Should God pervert justice? or should the Almighty pervert righteousness?
3 Porventura Deus fará curvar o que é reto, e o Todo-poderoso subverterá a justiça?
4 If thy children have sinned against him, then did he send them off through the means of their transgression.
4 Se teus filhos o ofenderam, ele os entregou às conseqüências de suas culpas.
5 If thou wilt earnestly seek for God, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
5 Se recorreres a Deus, e implorares ao Todo-poderoso,
6 If thou become pure and upright: surely then will he watch over thee, and restore thy righteous habitation.
6 se fores puro e reto, ele atenderá a tua oração e restaurará a morada de tua justiça;
7 And thy beginning will have been small; because thy latter end will grow up greatly.
7 teu começo parecerá pouca coisa diante da grandeza do que se seguirá.
8 For ask, I pray thee, of an earlier generation, and prepare thyself to stand by the research of their fathers;
8 Interroga as gerações passadas, e examina com cuidado a experiência dos antepassados;
9 For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because a mere shadow are our days upon earth;
9 - porque somos uns ignorantes das {coisas} de ontem, nossos dias sobre a terra passam como a sombra -:
10 Behold, these will truly teach thee, they will speak unto thee, and out of their very heart will they bring forth words:
10 elas podem instruir-te, falar-te e de seu coração tirar este discurso:
11 Can the bulrush shoot upward without mire? can the meadowgrass grow up without water?
11 Pode o papiro crescer fora do brejo, o junco germinar sem água?
12 It is yet in its greenness, not yet cut down, when it withereth before any other grass.
12 Verde ainda, sem ser cortado, ele seca antes que as outras ervas;
13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hope of the hypocrite will perish:
13 assim acabam todos os que esquecem Deus, assim perece a esperança do ímpio;
14 It is he whose trust will be cut off, and but a spiders web is that in which he confideth.
14 sua confiança é como filandras, sua segurança, uma teia de aranha.
15 He leaneth against his house, but it shall not stand: he layeth fast hold on it, but it shall not remain erect.
15 Ele se apóia sobre uma casa que não se sustenta, atém-se a uma morada que não se mantém de pé.
16 He is in full vigor before the sun, and over his garden his shoots go forth.
16 Cheio de vigor, ao sol, faz brotar suas hastes em seu jardim;
17 His roots are twisted about a stoneheap, he selecteth for himself a place of stones.
17 suas raízes se entrelaçam sobre a pedra, apóiam-se entre rochas;
18 But when men destroy him from his place, then will it deny him, saying, I have never seen thee.
18 mas se é arrancado de seu lugar, este o renega: nunca te vi.
19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the same dust others will grow up.
19 Eis onde termina seu destino, e outros germinarão do solo.
20 Behold, God will not reject a perfect man, and will not hold fast by their hand the evildoers:
20 Não; Deus não rejeita o homem íntegro, nem dá a mão aos malvados.
21 Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with joyful shouting.
21 Ele porá de novo o riso em tua boca, e em teus lábios, gritos de alegria;
22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.
22 teus inimigos serão cobertos de vergonha, a tenda dos maus desaparecerá.
